Yay! Another Kalkulai among us, XD.

I dunno what "calc 2" is all about, as Canada names their classes differently, but it's probably something like our "Avanced Functions and Introductory Calculus."

I dunno, but I got to skip "calc 1" due to my high grade on my advanced placement test. So now I'm on to calc 2...I'm assuming it's just higher level stuff beyond simple differentiation and integration stuffs =P

Oh God. If my brain implodes by simply seeing a "Calculus for Dummies" book, I'll probably be attempting mental suicide if I see a Calculus II book O.O'.

I'm glad that sexy is being brought back by the DCC =)

This is how it went in my school:

Algebra 1 --> Geometry --> Algebra 2 --> Pre Calc --> Calc (if you were a year ahead)

@DCC Thread Title: I never knew I left O_o
xD

My math life has went like this

Alg -> Alg 2 -> Geometry -> Trig [FUTURE COURSES] College Algebra -> AP Trig -> College Trig [If I make it that far x_x]

Mm..sorry Sublime, it means me. Hate to break it to you. =/ You just lost teh sexy.

Since I went to Aura's school the same math path applies XD Though I'm taking Introduction to Statistics and Probability this semester, I'm taking Calculus I with a friend this summer. My parents aren't liking the idea considering neither of us excelled in Pre-Calc and we never took college Pre-Calc either. >_>

Why so many trigs? And has anyone passed all of them?
I've never looked at a trig problem so I don't how hard it is, but one of my friends said it was really hard. I suppose I might take it in the future.

The extra Trig courses took the place of our high school Pre Calc for some reason :/

One of our students graduated at 15. He passed all of the courses I mentioned above and more o.o I swear, he is a genious.

He skipped middle school all together..

Aren't I supposed to be tutoring you guys? Surely my supreme math skills will be able to help you out ^___^

My Mathematical course goes like this:

Algebra ─► Geometry/Trigonometry ─► Algebra 2 ─► Pre-Calculus ─► Calculus ─► College Stuff.

Pretty much the same around Texas, I believe.

Uh, could someone tell me what age are people normally around when they take calculus? And what exactly is calculus, differentiation and integration?

Same here in Ohio, except Trig is grouped with Pre-Cal.

I'm stuck in Algebra 2 because I effed up the placement test in elementary school. That was back when I had some personal stress issues and got nervous at the thoughts of tests. I had that problem fixed by myself when I entered the middle school and it eased out in my Freshman year, but I can't wait to break out of my class and jump into some higher level mathematics...

We have
pre Algebra/algebra - geometry - Algebra 2 - Algebra 3/Pre-Cal - Calculus AB - Calculus BC

Depends on your level of math. There were also lower courses I don't know about. XD; I took the upper ones and finished through Calculus AB. We only needed 4 math credits. I took extra. XD;

And this is in KY, though it's different for different schools. I went to a bigger school. XD;

o.o

The American system is like Martian Math. Seriously, XD.

Grade 9 Math -> Grade 10 Math -> Functions/Statistical Crap(only need one) -> Advanced Functions & Introductory Calculus/Geometry & Discrete Mathematics/Data Management(you can graduate without taking any of them, but to get into a Math/Science course in university you need the first two) -> University(in which trigonometric calculus and integrals are first introduced to us, XD. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you learn these things in American high schools.)

The math courses at my school are pretty similar, except Geo/Trig and Algebra 2 are learned at the same time and more advanced Trig is included in PreCal. However, it is said that my school is very different from the other New York City public high schools, so I can't say anything else on behalf of the rest of the city's learning system.

Well as for me Here in California (or LAUSD) my path to Math is: (I'm in 10th Grade right now. =P)
(Grade)

Pre-Algebra (7) > Algebra 1 (8) > Geometry (9) > Algebra 2 (10)

Future stuff, I hope:

Pre-Calculus (11) > AP Calculus AB (12) or I could also take Statistics in Community College. =/ But too much school time! XD

Well thats it?
