Apples. The latest, pretty much. And although I prefer Dells over them, at least we get them, right...? I don't have to bug my parents about using their laptops, either XD

And besides, not like this is a cruddy public school. It's a magnificent private school. Tops public school every time~

As you might've noticed, I had a bad experience in public school.

*Fumes with jealousy*

I want to go to your school. All the schools I've ever been to are so lame... But I am going to a new one for senior year after I move to Maryland during the summer.

I was the product of a public school, and all things considered, I actually turned out quite well.

No Advanced Placement and no tests, yet the school can afford to issue laptops to its students. Sickening.

*sigh* I wish they have laptops at school...

They only have plain P4 Intel computers whos memories go loose.. :(

P.S. Technology! :)

I wish my school gave out free Apple labtops. All we get to use are Dell computers that all share the same internet connection.

There is atleast two hundred of these labtops running at the same time, so you can imagine how slow it could get...

Well... It's only the high school's second year. My class is gonna be the second graduating class there, so... And it's not like we DON'T have tests. We just don't have STANDARDIZED tests.

And it's private school. There are SEVEN people in the entire 9th grade, and even still, only five laptops were bought for them (since I was supposedly supposed to be gone, and another kid came in later, though he had his own laptop).

But I have to admit, you really are the exact product of a public school that I'd expect. Criticizing everyone and always thinking you're right, and even seeming to be rude. Yup, that's a public school kid all right ^^ 'Tis why I left such a horrible place... Aye, everyone in my public school respects each other, and nobody's ever rude, and nobody ever thinks they're the best. No one's perfect in it, but they're a lot better than the public school kids. Even the kids that come from public schools into my private school change for the better, and they become awesome.

No offense to the pwnsome, non-stereotypical public school kids out there =D You guys are awesome.

What's this? A private school and public school stand-off? BRING IT ON! =P (But...what do we do when someone who is home-schooled comes along?)

I myself go to a selective school, and am now in my final year. Apparently some of us might actually get laptops by order of the (state?) government, but if this ends up happening or not is another matter.

My school mostly has non-Apple computers - the ones we do have aren't very good. Outdated and fat and all. The rest aren't that much better but at least they work most of the time.

I honestly don't want to start a flame war, to be honest. I was just stating my opinion, so... Besides, fighting over something like this is pointless. Everyone has their own views, their own opinions... In the end I think anyone involved would lose. I'm just saying. Not saying, just saying.

So, how's everyone's weekend so far?

I'm a private school girl all my life (b'-')b
Even going to a private college, haha. The majority of public schools in Florida are F rated schools...so if you want a real education, you've gotta pay. Yet...I feel like I'm a bit socially naive when it comes to things. Drugs and sex aren't prevalent topics at my school seeing that we have such strict codes of conduct. College I'll probably see things that won't be near my moral standards but I'll just have to adjust.

i love my public high school. it might not be as 'good' or have the most classes but i've learned things here i can't learn anywhere else, and i still feel like a well rounded person

;) private schoolers

My first 8 years of school where private. Going to a public school has actually been tougher then you can imagine. I got so used to wearing casual clothes like button down shirts that I actually go to school sometimes like that and people look at me like what the hell? And cell phones are popular and such but I am so into them since 7th grade that I always wanted THE phone that my friends look at me like a crazy man when I want to buy a 450 euro phone with 8MP and a nice big screen and made out of metal. I always was for the high life but I go to school low profile. Its kind of fun actually. Going to church and all with my friends in jeans and me in nice pants and shirt and shoes.

My friend goes to a private school. He slagged it off completely, but when I asked if he would sent his kids private, he said yes. I don't think it really matters where you go. If you want to learn, you will: if you don't, you won't. Both public and private schools where I live all require you have a uniform, so dress code isn't a difference between the two choices. Though I guess public schools here do have a high rating compared to other counties.

I've never even stepped foot in a private school in my life. :( But all things considered, I have a pretty good education, so it's all good.

When I lived overseas, there were only two options: the DoDDS schools (which were public), or homeschooling. Makes me wonder if it was ever possible to go to schools off the base. That'd be interesting, at the very least.

Both of the schools I've been in have been public. I was originally going to go to a private secondary, but then we decided it was too far away so I went for the public. I don't really care, to be honest. So long as I have enough points in my leaving cert to do English in university, I'll be fine.

Speaking of doing English at university, someone on my MSN messaged me, who wishes to study English at York, and it amazes me how they're expecting to do a literature degree when they can't even understand the difference between "you're" and "your" after 18 years.

yeah well you dont need good enlish to study english you just need DETERMINATION

There's only like 2-3 private schools in my area, and they're obviously outnumbered by the amount of public schools scattered around. I've only seen one of them, but never have I stepped foot on it, as it was from a pretty far distance.
I've probably been in a private school back in Europe, but that's something only my parents can remember.

Naturally you need that too, but I'm sure it would be extremely useful to understand the basics of the language before wanting to study it at such an extensive degree. It's like studying computer science but not knowing how to use a mouse. It's sort of expected if you're going to specialize in that subject, no?

I've been in Public my entire life. My parents had offered to send me to a private highschool in 9th grade, but it was a catholic school, and that...really isn't my thing.

Plus, I didn't like the atmosphere there. It was a uniform school, which I am totally against (I'd rather be seen as myself with my own sense of style going on, than just one in the masses), and...I don't know. It was just too much of a transition at that point, I guess.

Haha. Nice analogy.

But yeah, one should indeed learn to swim before jumping into the deep end.
