Actually, China's military has become somewhat of a policing-only force within its own country. After conquering its buffer states (Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Manchuria), China's military has been completely depleted, running only strength on numbers. Its navy is barely existent.....still better than Vietnam's non-existent navy though ;.;

Master failure.

The American army, during the 1700's, was the horrible but large army. (And if that's what you meant, they didn't conquer a quarter of the world. That was more on the lines of the late 1800's to early 1900's, and I doubt what they did conquer would count as 1/4 of the Earth.)
