Hey, now. The purpose of that was to simplify the language. Really, there are no need to separate "practise" and "practice", and the u is unnecessary in "colour" to achieve correct pronunciation. Instead of being so reactionary, how about just jumping on board? :P

The language didn't need simplifying though. I mean, does it not even occur to you that it should be sort of offending that people think 'colour' is too hard a word to spell? I mean, even if the u was unnecessary, there are still hundreds of other words with unnecessary vowels that kept theirs.

Not on men. :>

Did you see what I did there? I put that "strike" tag to make it look like "me", but it still says "men". I thought that was rather cleverous of me, really.

Yes, that was. :3 -throws a cookie @-

Hello Pokey! :3 -wave-

Because America has almost everything wrong. May I point to Fahrenheit and the complete lack of metric system in them. Countries even refuse to buy America's stuff unless they change it to the metric system :/

Depends on the dialect. NZ spelling is pretty much the same as British spelling, although we do have the quirk of fjord->fiord. :P
That doesn't count, no one ever uses the word fjord 8P

It never hurts, though. I never said it was too hard to spell for some people if they're well trained in the language. I just think it would be better off to eliminate unnecessary vowels for beginners of the language who are just learning to write. The elimination of "u" itself, however, transpires across a wide range of words.

Now, I'm not saying the changes made were absolutely imperative. I just feel that they should be welcomed if implemented. As someone whose first language isn't English, I appreciate everything that makes it more simple and easy to learn.

We did in Geography when we were studying glaciers etc.! o:

No one uses the word fjord commonly, or anything related to geography in that matter. No one talks about volcanoes, glaciers, islands(excluding island resorts), or waterfalls unless they are talking about things like their homeland or a national landmark.

That's a bit of an unfair generalisation when you think of all the people who study those things for a living.

I had a conversation about a waterfall today- granted that the stimulus was a waterfall within a random island in New Guinea, but you'd be surprised. o:

I also do sometimes ramble on about geography-related things, but I'm just a geek like that.

Now you're just being stereotypical. XD lol
