You do need to do some serious grinding in Chapter 11 I think. XD

It can take a while to get through the whole game. Most Final Fantasy games do, and this one takes a little less time. Really it only takes a really long time if you do the side missions. They can keep you occupied for a bit, and it can be a lot of fun if you really enjoy the battle system and all of that.

FF is a RPG, that's what makes it fun. well for most rpgers anyways. the new one apparently takes hours before you even able to do some free roaming

^ It does take a long time before you can do some free-roaming. If you don't play it constantly it can take a couple weeks to get up to the chapter that you can actually walk freely in. It's a good break from the same old stuff that you go through at the beginning of the game and gives you the opportunity to just do whatever and go around and get CP or whatever else you want. Treasure hunting, item farming, whatever.

too long for me. i get why people play it for hours trying to complete everything. after i finish the story, i try to complete everything too but i usually switch to a new game as soon as i can get my hands on it. i guess that's why i like pokemon, the story is too long for the first part, and there's an actual benefit to trying to get everything. i can battle other people with all the items and trained pokemon. for most console games, it doesn't work like that, completing the game has no benefit for the competitive online stuff

Am I the only one here who isn't a mindless Final Fantasy drone? Am I the only one here who shows proper appreciation for Western RPGs?

Calling Final Fantasy fans "mindless drones" is a bit much, imho. It's a popular franchise for a reason.

I'm a terrible gamer, really. There aren't a lot of games that catch my interest, and those that do usually have to involve really really interesting and/or unique character/environment designs. I think Amano and Yoshida did great jobs in III and XII respectively. I didn't like VII because I already knew the entire story and what to expect, which made it really dull.

I don't have the consoles for most modern western RPGs, but I've seen Fable, Oblivion and all of the Diablo clones out there. I played Mass Effect at a friend's house and loved it. KoTOR would probably be one of my favorite games given that I grew up watching Star Wars and love the franchise. I'm more than sure that I'd prefer WRPGs over JRPGs for the simple fact that most WRPGs don't use a turn based system.

An open minded individual would be able to appreciate both genres. It isn't as they they have much common ground these days; they're fundamentally different now.

Besides...

Dictionary said:
drone |drōn|
noun
1 a low continuous humming sound : he nodded off to the drone of the car engine.
• informal a monotonous speech : only twenty minutes of the hour-long drone had passed.
• a continuous musical note, typically of low pitch.
• a musical instrument, or part of one, sounding such a continuous note, in particular (also drone pipe) a pipe in a bagpipe or (also drone string) a string in an instrument such as a hurdy-gurdy or a sitar.
2 a male bee in a colony of social bees, which does no work but can fertilize a queen.
• figurative a person who does no useful work and lives off others.
3 a remote-controlled pilotless aircraft or missile.

I don't like being called a parasite.

But you clearly have a PC; contrary to popular belief, PC gaming is, in fact, a viable alternative to console gaming.

Turn-based combat has largely faded out, actually. Most JRPGs are action-based these days. A JRPG isn't defined by the combat, really; it's mostly about the Eastern storytelling methods.

I send messages to websites with my mind.

Actually, I only have a MacBook right now. As much as I'd love to build my own gaming PC or get an XBox, I simply can't afford it. I'm even happy that they announced they're releasing L4D for OSX, but I really doubt my laptop would be able to handle it.

Same goes for my computer, it can really do the bare minimum... it can't handle much... if it would load L4D I would have like 30 minute start-up, loading, and like two minutes between each step..

Blah, I hate the normal Final Fantasies. They're too mindlessly repetitive. Well, the old ones, at any rate. I don't have the consoles for the new ones, so I dunno about them. The random encounters get so annoying after a while, because you can't block them out and the Run system is stupid.

Really, I never got into Final Fantasy. I can appreciate the people who are into it, but I never understood the hype.

Plenty. Scribblenauts almost did, and I really hope this Scribblenauts 2 will. D=

I havent played Scribblenauts, probably because I dont use my logicality that much. XD

damn this is a great post whoaring thread

Damn, Geometry Wars is a good game.

yeah, so great for post hoaring. almost at 4k!

I have this urge to play computer-based single player FPS's.
