For me, it really depends on the game... Pokemon seems to make it okay, as does some other RPGs where you can defend yourself (instead of taking the hit regardless), but something like 1st or 3rd is more interactive, and befitted much more for the next gen consoles, so I can understand turned base going on to hand helds.

Yeah, games like Pokemon I don't mind.. but turn by turn fighting in a proper console game is just weird and makes the game run too slowly, imo.
