WHAT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! IT'S ROUND TWO INFO!
For round two, we're spicing things up a bit. The Extreme Speed is about surprises, so here it is: The point of this next round is scrolls. There are two types of scrolls: Time and Space (based on the Diamond and Pearl logos of course.) You'll receive one of these types of scrolls and you have to battle someone with the other.
Here's the catch! 12 people, 2 types of scrolls. We're dividing everybody into 6 teams of 2. Your partner will be determined by a seeded match up, and your seed will be determined by your progress in this tournament. A solid battle record and early entry into round two grants you a higher seed than someone who receives a wildcard or was one of the last few to qualify. The seeds will be posted on Tuesday with the team-ups underneath. Three teams will have a Space scroll and other three will have Time. You want to challenge one of the teams with the opposite scroll that you possess. After the pairings have been posted on Tuesday, you and your partner will have 3 days to decide which team you want to battle. On Friday, challenges may commence. These can happen
only in the Battle Topic, but NOT anytime before 12:00 a.m. EST on Friday, September 5th.
Here's another catch for you guys: challenging the other team is a race. Once you challenge a team of the opposite scroll, they
can't refuse the challenge. So if Bob/Carol challenge Jason/Nancy, Jason and Nancy have no choice but to battle the first pair. To make things fair, however, the secondary team gets to decide who will battle who in the pairings. So if Nancy don't wanna battle Carol, girl don't have to. Mmmmmmhm.
Now onto how the battles will work!
Team A (Bob/Carol) vs. Team B (Jason/Nancy)
Team A has a Time Scroll and Team B has a Space Scroll. Team A logs onto PC early enough Friday and decided they want to fight Jason/Nancy for their Space scroll. They post so in the battle topic saying so and Jason and Nancy comply. So the matches are decided as:
Jason vs. Carol
Bob vs. Nancy
Here's two scenarios for you guys to mull over in your minds to predict how the round might play out:
Jason (B) def. Carol (A) 6-0
Nancy (B) def. Bob (A) 6-0
The B team has stomped the A team flat. Obviously it's the B team that moves on to round three.
Jason (B) def. Carol (A) 6-0
Bob (A) def. Nancy (B) 3-0
Oh snap! A trade off. Well here's how this works. The B team grabs a solid 6 Poke-defeats for Jason's win. The A team grabbed 3 for Bob's win. Since Nancy defeated three of Bob's team, even though she lost, now the score is B-9, A-3. B team moves on with a higher score! So even if you weren't too happy with your partner (don't vocalize that, please..) you still have a great shot at round three even if the match-ups are risky. That's what makes Extreme Speed fun!
Sucks for the A team. Anyway, that's how things would go down with the teams. If we get a draw in someplace, you'll just battle the opposite person and the
combined score from all the matches would determine which team moves on.
