The Flame in Charmander's Tail

Im sure it will DIE, kinda obscure for a kidfriendly franchise like pokemon. Talking about it's flame, what would happen if it's flame get's bigger than it's hole body?
 
I agree with the Flame being a sign of health argument. It makes more sense considering the events of the anime.

As for the Pokemon Dying discussion, didn't Blue's Charmeleon cut Koga's Arbok in half in the Adventures Manga?
