The Flock (A Maximum Ride RP) ~ PG-16

Flurry whimpered frightened but stood and nodded. As much as she wanted to stay she knew she had to listen to Apolla and without looking back the seven year old ran away from danger. Sadly though she wasn't far before another eraser jumped in her path and as it lunged at her Flurry jumped back making a scratch that was supposed to be on her chest go on her stomach. She yelped out in pain but quickly froze over the wound to stop the bleeding as she stood ready to fight this time.

Apolla kneed the Eraser in the stomach causing him to double over. Over his shoulder Apolla could see Flurry running away, being stopped in her tracks by another Eraser. She was about to leap up and assist her, but Flurry was holding her own.
Apolla burst with pride. Or, she would have, if her opponent hadn't swiped at her, creating three parallel cuts sliced across her chest and missing the wolf by less than an inch. The blood soaked her t-shirt, and in turn the white fur of the wolf, but Apolla didn't care.

She transferred the dog to one arm, allowing herself to punch the Eraser in the nose. She felt it break, and the Eraser's blood soaked her in addition to her own.

The people around her in the street were gathered in a loose circle, as if watching some insane street show. If they knew this was real blood, they'd freak.
Apolla had barely enough time to think it before the Eraser came at her again. She blocked his punches almost effortlessly with her left arm, then kicking him in the groin and then the chest so that he landed in the crowd.

They ooh'd and applauded her. Idiots.

Flurry whimpered in pain blood soaking her dress as the ice on her wounds melted. The eraser jumped at her again. Flurry whimpered and kicked the eraser in the gut and jumped away from it. Like Apolla she had attracted a crowd and felt unease at that fact. This unease distracted her and within the next few seconds she let out an ear piercing scream as the eraser snapped her arm breaking it.

Flurry's scream caused Apolla to look up in panic. Her arm was at an odd angle, apparently broken.
Apolla rushed to her side, as the Eraser she'd just knocked down groggily made it to his feet.
Two Erasers, two mutants with one arm a piece. She didn't like to admit it, but Apolla knew this fight was lost. She ran forward and kicked the nearest Eraser in the jaw before grabbing Flurry's good arm.

"Up and out on three. One, two.." And as they had practised, the two jumped in the air on two, wings spread wide. Apolla conjured a gust of wind which hindered the Erasers' vision, and the people cheered at the publicity stunt they'd thought they'd seen.

--------------------------------------------------------

Apolla and Flurry sat under a tree in a small wooded area, the wolf next to them. Apolla's hands had completely healed now, and so she didn't hesitate in holding them over Flurry's broken arm.

"Stay still, it won't take long." She said with a smile. Her healing was much better now; she hadn't fainted since they'd left the house. Fixing an arm was different though. Much bigger than anything she'd done before.

Apolla's hands began to glow, and Flurry's arm began to re-align itself. Apolla grinned, but she knew what would come.
She breathed in sharply through her teeth as she felt the bones in her hands break, but she continued until the job was done.

She then looked at Flurry's stomach, and her own chest. Flurry had done a brilliant job in stopping both their bleeding, but with hindsight, maybe Apolla should have started on the cuts before breaking her hands.

Flurry sniffled starting to cry when Apolla fixed her broken arm. "y..you hurt yourself by doing that" she whimpered trembling slightly. Flurry was glad she had managed to stop their bleeding but her dress was ruined from blood as was Apolla's shirt and she knew when the rest of the flock found them they wouldn't hear the end of questions on how they got hurt. Flurry looked at Apolla as she cried. "Mommy I was so scared...I just looked around and I couldn't find you!"

Lance couldn't handle himself in a city. If he would have trouble handling himself with the flock, handling himself around a city full of people would be unbearable. Lance was struggling to focus, but with different raging emotions, it was hard for him to think straight. Eventually out of mental exhaustion he had to sit down on the floor, and Lance then waited as he lost the remaining two of the flock, and then erasers came after him.

Lance then got into a battle position, and then, the eraser tried kicking him, in a way that favored speed, not strength, but hit the wall behind Lance. Lance suddenly opened his eyes, and the irises of his eyes expanded to take up his whole eye, and Lance replicated the kick, hitting the eraser and sending it back to hit the wall as bricks fell on the eraser.

Lance's eyes were still completely black as he then used the wall as a springboard to cannonball on another eraser, and then looking for the rest of his family, he jumped up and flew.

A dead erasor lay in the streetm some sraric still sparki un its fur. Seto's arms still coursed with electricity, and one could see that his hair had grown a bit longer, and also darker. He sighed and walked away from the lifeless body, looking up to the sky. During his fight, he had lost track of the Flock, and they were never easy to find. His wings began to move, lifting him higher in the air before he angled his body and flew to the top of a motel, searching the crowd for them.-

-----Silver awoke with a start, sensing that he was under a tree, and only Flurry and Apolla remained. He whined as searing pain seemed to rip at every muscle in his body, but he stood. His eyes were the same empty purple and blue irises. Think, how did I take this form, how do I go back...? He focused intently, and surely enough, he was back in angel form.
-----His clothes were really torn, his pale skin almost covered in various wounds and injuries; some from experiments, some from his reckless escape. But his eyes shone only happiness as he knelt down and picked up Apolla's broken hands. He placed them flat in the grass, and lightly jabbed various points with his fingers, healing and fixing her hands. He hugged both Flurry and Apolla. "I really missed you guys..."
-----He tried to listen around wildly, shocked. "W-where is brother!? And Father!?" Meaning Seto. "And Lance--" He was cut off by a loud growl. From his stomach. He clutched his stomach through his torn clothes, and whimpered. "Where is everyone!? What happened...?" By now, tears were streaming down his cheeks as he cried...

Flurry's eyes widened in happiness when the next thing she knew the wolf turned into Silver. She watched as he fixed Apolla's hands before hugging both of them. The next minute he was asking where the other's where and he started crying. When this happened Flurry hugged him tight cuddling with him not caring if her blood got on him. "I don't know where the other's are....me and mommy got separated from them and then I got separated from her. I got jumped by an eraser and while mommy found me and saved me from that one another one cut me and broke my arm." she whispered sniffling. "that's how mommy broke her hands from when she healed my arm" she added crying as well. "Oh Silver I was so worried.....an-and scared....I'm so glad your back with us."

(grr you guys are way too fast for me)

Lysander nodded as Apolla walked towards him, and he moved his wing away from the sleeping Flurry. As Apolla scooped her up, she took off once again, leaving him alone once more. Rather used to this happening, he got up, flapped his wings once, twice, thrice, then jumped, his wings taking him higher as he leaped.

Before Lysander could do anything, the others were always quicker than him (curses!), and Lysander could only follow and watch things from behind. He wasn't really needed in the Eraser fight either, Apolla could handle herself just fine. He felt like an outcast once again. Looking around he saw Lance up in the air, observing and scanning the place as usual. He was like him, rather ignored by the Flock, but was it because of his personality?

Lysander noticed some blood on his fist so he was in the fight too. Stopping in mid air, next to him, he started, "Don't you feel you're left out sometimes...?"

But he stopped when he heard his brother's name and looked down. Flurry was with him, hugging him lovingly. Lysander decided not to bother the little love scene and just smiled from above, picking a larger feather on his wing, and let it float down onto Silver's hands. Silver would know that it was his, and he'll know that Lysander's there.

Daedalus was shocked as Silver broke out. He didn't know that his powers had improved, and Sonora looked even more confused. Smirking Daedalus smiled as Silver escaped, not planning to stop him. He wanted them to be free, after all.

Go free, Silver. Go Free.

Apolla saw Flurry's eyes widen as she looked at something behind her. Following her gaze, Apolla saw she was looking at the wolf. Except now there was no wolf, and in its place, sat a very bruised bird kid.

Apolla looked on with shock as Silver healed her hands, not wanting to get her hopes up. But when Silver's voice poured out of the small boy, and tears ran from his blind eyes, her doubt melted away.

Still without a word, Apolla hugged the two 7 year olds together. She stroked his white hair which had traces of her blood in, and kissed him on the head. She would have cried, if she wasn't as tough as she was.

Silently, Apolla lifted her hands to heal Silver's cuts and bruises. She felt that her most treasured power wouldn't be in much use any more, as Silver's was a lot more honed.
She vowed to keep using it, as a way of showing her Flock that she would always save them before herself. And it was kinda poetic that by sacrificing herself, she was saving her family.
The Stigmata-like marks on her hands were almost sacrilegious, especially considering that they were a result of a few scientists playing God. She wasn't a fan of irony, but still she kind of liked them.

She looked up to see Lance and Lysander hovering above. She gestured them over, hoping that Seto would arrive soon.
Her family was complete, and she wanted them together.

-----Silver was having recurring memories of the School; Now, both old and new. He remembered the feeling of seering pain as a large syringe injected something into him and he almost whimpered at the thought. He shuddered at the violent thoughts he was unfortunate enough to hear from the scientists. He trembled a bit and sat down in Apolla's lap, shivering. The wind was blowing a bit chilly, and Silver's clothes were torn to shreds.
-----"Mommy... Flurry..." Tears rushed as he closed his empty eyes and hugged them both, crying. His stomach was growling now, frequently and loudly. He was starving, which was understandable, after being in the School. He continued in an attempt to ignore it. "Wh-where are we...?" He sniffed, smelling and hearing and sensing the area. It was a large tree they were under, in an open field, somewhere in a city.

Flurry sniffled crying as well as she hugged Silver tightly. "we're in some city" she whispered trembling and shivering as she hugged him. "your safe now Silver...mommy won't let anything happen to us" she whispered as she hugged him. While this was going on she couldn't help but wonder something. Should I tell Silver what happened to Lysander? she thought as she cuddled with Silver. She looked down at her dress and shivered again seeing the icy blue fabric coated in her blood. She sighed sadly that was my favorite dress...stupid eraser

-It wasn't too long before Seto spotted the family reforming around some tree in a park. He jumped, scattering the gravel on the roof, and even carrying some with him in the air as he took off. He swerved through buildings and dodged incoming birds, then landed on one of the branches of the tree, staring down at the people below him.-
"Yo, whats up people, and I see you've found Silver... is he okay?"

-Seto didn't like being called the father of the Flock, even if he was the oldest, but still they seemed persistant in calling him that.-

When Seto arrived, Apolla's smile exploded into a grin on her face. They were all here, they were all where she could look after them.

"He's doing great!" Apolla said to Seto. She wondered if he had heard Silver calling him father; he wasn't too fond of that. In all honesty, Apolla didn't know whether being called Mommy was something she liked or had just come accustomed to, but she allowed the youngest to call her whatever made them feel safer.

Apolla saw Flurry sigh at her ruined dress, and was aware that Silver was shivering in his tattered clothes. Her own top was soaked with blood, with three angry slashes across the chest.
Dressed like this, they were sure to attract unwanted attention; they needed clothes, they needed food, and they needed money to buy it all.

Hmm. It can wait until tomorrow. Apolla hugged Silver close, reaching out to hold Flurry's hand.
Tonight, they will sleep in the park. Together.

Flurry yawned sleepily taking Apolla's hand before cuddling close to her. Flurry yawned again and rubbed her eyes still needing to catch up on some sleep. Looking up at Apolla she smiled softly hugging her "I love you mommy" she whispered sleepily eyes starting to close from exhaustion and the weakness that came with blood loss. When her stomach growled she ignored it and slowly allowed herself to start ever so slowly falling asleep still not completely sure whether the nightmare was really gone or not. Flurry sighed again looking sleepily at the other members of the flock glad that everyone was together again as her vision blurred and she let sleep take her as she cuddled with Silver and Apolla.

-----Apolla answered for him. "Um, I don't know... They injected me with different stuff, and said I was 'special'... I-I don't know why..." He stammered. Now that he thought of it, it was pretty creepy.
-----"Why do you hate being called father?" He asked Seto, his blind eyes piercing the elder angel's, so directly that, for a moment, you'd think he really could see. He stood up warily, still shivering, and hugged Seto's upper legs. "I don't call you father because you're oldest in the flock... I call you father because I consider you my father... Even when you're all quiet and distant... And angry..." He added, remembering a past incedent where Seto reached an anger level and, well, changed.
-----Silver let go and crawled back to Apolla's lap with Flurry, who seemed to be asleep already. He looked up at Apolla, his blind stare, soft and gentle, questioningly staring at hers. "Mommy, how will we get clothes and foods with no moneys?" He shivered, so he pressed close to Apolla, and beside Flurry. He felt sleepy himself, as he sat, leaning back against Apolla.
-----Silver pulled Flurry closer and let her head rest in his lap. He gently stroked her hair, finding it rather soothing at times to brush her hair. He waited to hear Apolla's reply.

Ah, the innocent lack of tact that comes along with seven year olds. It seemed awkward after Silver had mentioned Seto's 'anger', so Apolla prepared to change the subject. However, Silver beat her to it.

"Mommy, how will we get clothes and foods with no moneys?"

He waited patiently for her reply, his unseeing eyes focusing on hers with bizarre accuracy.
In truth, Apolla had no idea, and there is only so much that a Flock of starving mutants can gain from garbage. She contemplated pretending she had an idea, but even without telepathy Silver was smart enough to know she was lying.

"We'll think of something." She said, touching his hand in the way she'd always done to show him that she was smiling.
"Right now, I think sleep is in order. We've got a busy day ahead tomorrow."

The Erasers knew they were here, and even sleeping in the trees tonight was a risky decision. But they were all too exhausted to make a move just yet.
She healed what was left of Flurry's wound on her stomach, and then her own, kissing the two youngest on the forehead.

Apolla turned to Seto, Lance and Lysander. "I'll take the first shift; y'know, lookout. Get some sleep guys. 'San, Silver'll want you nearby, so you don't have to take a shift tonight if you'd rather not."

Apolla flew to a branch above them, where she could see all five flock members and the surrounding area.
She made herself comfortable. It was going to be a long night.

-----Silver felt Apolla fly up to stand watch. Silver sighed and flew up after her. "I can keep watch all night..." He paused, realizing the irony of what he had just said, and smacked his own face. "Y-you know what I mean... I don't need to sleep... That and I can use my hearing and smell and sensing to protect everyone..."
-----He paused for a moment; He sounded really brave, up until this. "B-but I would like company..." He whimpered, laying close to Apolla and hugging her waist. "Please don't tell me to sleep," He pleaded, "I've been all alone in the School away from Mommy and Daddy and Brother and Flurry and Lance...!" He sounded desperate now. He absolutely hated being alone.
-----"P-please...!" He whined again, hugging Apolla's waist as he started to cry. Eventually his crying was severe, and he obiously was not going to let go of Apolla now. "O-oh yeah.. And I heard someone... At School... Daedalus..."

"Shhhhhh now," Apolla said soothingly, squeezing Silver's trembling shoulders. "You can stay with me if you want, I'd love to spend the night with my favourite little boy."
She stroked his back, scratching him where his wings joined his body.

"I've missed you so much."

Silver was now crying hysterically, and it was heartbreaking. She was about to say something reassuring when he said something that distracted her attention.

"O-oh yeah.. And I heard someone... At School... Daedalus..."

Daedalus. The name caused fury to course through Apolla's veins. The man who had saved them, taken them to their house in the forests, risking his own life.
Daedalus, the man who had left the Flock to fend for themselves, to return to his precious school. They'd been betrayed, and Apolla had thought on numerous occasions since Silver's capture that it was he who had given away their location.
She'd figured it all out on the night Silver was taken. Daedalus was the bad guy, the one who made them mutant, ruining their lives. She'd come to the eventual conclusion that freeing them was all some sort of test, and that he had intended that they all returned to the School at some point.

Apolla's fury reached boiling point; she could practically feel herself getting hot under the collar.
She could feel herself getting hot everywhere else too, as her hands burned a scorching white, singeing Silver's jacket before she pulled them away.

What's happening to me?
