The general competitive standard: Rules

I actually do use Shock Wave on one of my Pokémon for one specific reason, and that's not for its accuracy. But that's beside the point.

Aerial Ace does poor damage, but that doesn't mean it can't take out a Skarmory if you're using a lasting Pokémon that Swords Dances a few times. It's all about strategy: for example, while a Skarmory is using Double Team, switch out to a Scyther with the Technician ability (X1.5 for attacks of 60 BD or less) that knows Substitute, Swords Dance, and Aerial Ace. Use Subs, SD a few times, then unleash Aerial Ace for the STAB on top of Technician on top of the SDs. The damage given is huge, and since Scyther's so fast he can take down multiple Pokes with this technique. Give him X-Scissor and he's an all-around good Sweeper than can be used in a variety of situations, not just against DTers.

In fact, I might just go raise one now.

exactly, common moves that people use like aerial ace, and shock wave will easily break the DT tactic

Some Pokemon really do need DT. Like Ninjasks sole purpose is to Baton Pass DT and a speed boost.

yeah ninjask can pass it 2 shedinja

shedinja is nasty w/ dt... with its toxic move

Aerial Ace after a DD from a Salamence is quite effective. Shock Wave after a Calm Mind from an Alakazam is also hard to take.

Everly

Shedinja is pretty much irrelevant with all of the sand/hail flying around. Not to mention Spikes, Stealth Rock, and Toxic Spikes.

Agreed, You really know your stuff... Pretty impressive.

At least someone here does... >_>

Anyway, Shock Wave 'Zam is stupid. What a waste of a moveset. And what if the DT'd pokemon is Blissey? You're screwed then. Likewise with DD Salamence and Aerial Ace. DT Skarmory walls you, spikes in your face, and laugh at the damage, insulting you further with a whirlwind.

And at another poster, Ninjask is 99% of the time used to pass Speed and Attack, not evasion.

HEY! I know what I'm talking about!!!

Well what is so wrong for a Ninjask who already learns Double Team to pass Evasion along with speed and some attack?

Every pokemon learns double team lol...(as far as i know)

Well I did point out who already learns Double Team (meaning it learns it through leveling up). I'd say it is quite a convenience. Heck I'd make a super annoying one.

-Double Team
-Protect
-Swords Dance
-Baton Pass

Well okay I also see the point. DT is a bit broken. But that is what is so fun about it.

It's not fun if it's used against you. Btw that's a crap moveset, but w/e. Anyway, obviously this all holds true for BrightPowder/Lax Inxense too. I won't even get into the hax of quick claw.

Also, NoS, I wasn't implying you didn't know what you were talking about, I just meant that in general people here don't.

I know man i was messing with you lol

Well you dont have to go around calling peoples opinions crappy. >.>

It was something I conjured on the spot to prove the point why DT is banned.

Yeah, basically any Pokemon that can learn TMs can learn Double Team. So it excludes Pokemon like Magikarp, Ditto, Wobbu, and I think Feebas. Probably a few others, but none of them are really used anyway.

And thanks, but I'm nothing compared to the guys who do the analyses at Smogon. They're really cognizant of everything that's out there. Always manages to blow me away.

Skarmory, even if it DTed, before it can have a chance to use Spikes or Whirlwind (if it DTed first) giving Alakazam a free Calm Mind, then follow up with Shock Wave. The Skarmory would go down right there. Even if it didnt use DT and went straight for Spikes. Still a free CM turn for Alakazam. With other moves it can have after that one Calm Mind, and with Timid Nature, there goes every other pkmn after Skarmory. There isnt just one way to go about doing things. I have noticed that everyone around here battles so robotically. Like what I tell my friend. Just because serebii.net sais that thats a good move set for a Snorlax. Doesnt mean its the only one. I admit my Diamond team isnt one of the best teams around. But I choose to use something different for a change.

My Emerald team is somewhat
robotic, but with its own touches. (ex: Salamence with DD, Earthquake, Aerial Ace, and Rock Slide. A Milotic with, Surf, Ice Beam, Mirror Coat, and Recover) My Emerald Team is pretty tough. Its the only team I have that can take down 6 Legends without much effort. But whatever, I get tired when people say that its all about tactics when there are a crap load of moves and pokemon. Besides a Spike/Whirlwinding Skarmory. (Which btw it so easy to KO) Skarmory is no threat to me at all.

Everly

(its time to think outside the box, this will also be the last time I return here. Way too much of an immature enviroment. Was better off staying in the adult group I was in before)

Who cares? You act like your leaving is some grand gesture and that people actually care if you leave or not. I personally dont. We ARE thinking outside of the box maybe its YOU who isnt. The reason that people have banned these tactics is because they THOUGHT OUTSIDE OF THE BOX OF ALL THE POSSIBILITIES. And thus the reason why those things are infact BANNED in standard play. Now go be an "adult" and get out of here like you said.

As for people who play robotic. I dont play robotic infact i BEAT you with a completely made up team. In YOUR play environment(doubles) I would love to hear the excuse on that one. Oh wait..... YOUR LEAVING.
