I'm going to get flamed for this but the series did not end on a high note for me.
Yes, when it was first conceived it was quite revolutionary, and made action gaming fun again.
And the lastest version is quite beautiful. Actually, most beautiful game on any system to date.
But the gameplay still is hampered by some problems that never got addressed. Why for example does a god die when he doesn't make the jump across a pit? Especially since this god can jump from the highest point on earth down the bowels of the underworld and live? And he's got wings?
And why are we still stuck doing puzzles that involve pulling levers? And why is a god still unable to break some jars and vases? I realize this feels petty, but the problem is that these things feel like a carry over in early game design that designers still seem to difficulty letting go of.
Anyways, not bashing the game, enjoyed it very much. Just don't think it deserves the title of "revolutionary".
