Ya know that guy whos ALWAYS there in the gym?

tells you about the gym leaders types and in black and white gave you a fresh water?

what if HE had a bigger part of the story not limited too but such as a secret E4 or him being a gym leader himself?

Um. I guess that'd be cool. But a plot twist?! In Pokemon!? Not likely. lol

I think his role is pretty much as far as it can get. Sure, it would be interesting if he decided to be your agent or something after you're the champion, but it doesn't seem likely. I'd be shocked if he could battle, so him as a gym leader is kind of out the window. But it can still happen and would be kind of... cool?

Well, I guess helping hand Troy surprised us well being the Champ, didn't he?

    It would be intresting.

    I could imagine this now:
At one moment: Thanks for the Fresh Water.
The next moment: WTF, YOUR'RE THE BOSS OF TEAM PLASMA??!?!

If that random gym guy was going to have a role in the story all I want from him is something like Scott in Emerald.

Um. I guess that'd be cool. But a plot twist?! In Pokemon!? Not likely. lol

I would consider Giovanni a plot twist.

I guess that would be pretty cool, it wouldn't really matter to me since I never liked the gym Spectators anyways without a valid reason.

I'd like to think that he's a gossip. Well, I can imagine someone hanging around gyms or the Pokemon League whispering rumors about how Wallace gave up his title as champion to pursue Winona, Roark and his mother still have unresolved issues surrounding Byron, the League officials think that Giovanni's operation of the Viridian gym is fishy, Jasmine received a lot of stress under the Pokemon League to change her primary type from Rock to Steel, Elesa doesn't seem to have a family, and Fantina constantly faces threat of having the Hearthome gym shut down by the Pokemon League due to her prolonged absences.

Uh... I don't even talk to him (when you know every types, this is useless), I hardly see him with a bigger role :pink_confused:
That's just a NPC as another, no more.

it would be an interesting twist but just make sure he keeps giving free stuff. i like it heh

I guess it would be interesting if he turned out to be some kind of 'eye' for a bit throughout the game and be given a role similiar to Scott(like owning some kind of frontier or facility) would help to give him a bigger part. I mean he does seem interested in watching trainers battle after all...would give him more of a reason behind him watching.

He's not that interesting and he's only there to give you an item at times. I can think of more deserving characters to have a surprise plot. (i.e Mum.)

Than an old man who seemingly follows a young teenage boy/girl around and give them gifts? Easy to twist that into a story, though not one suitable for Pokemon.

Or than a talent scout who has seen something special in a person and who is going to enroll them for a secret government agency

Or a gang member who is keeping tabs on top class trainers in order to gain their trust before stealing the champions pokemon

Plenty of interesting ways that you can take the story imo

That'd be awesomeeeee. Right as you're about to battle him, he'll offer you like one last Fresh Water and then proceed to destroy you.

I have a weird fondness for the Gym Spectator. He's there with you, every step of the way, as you climb up the ranks of defeating each Gym Leader and whatnot. If he were to be integrated into the main story further, I'd certainly have no complaints, but it would be weird if it was just suddenly a random surprise at the end. There'd need to be plenty of foreshadowing to come in line with the game's not-so-subtle attempts to let the player know what's coming next. But it'd definitely be cool.

Wow guys, way to not take jokes well. I come back to the thread and everyone bombs my post like Nagasaki. Let me rephrase then:

Eh, not that interesting. I never even talk to him ha.

    There, that better? lol
