The Inheritance Club ~ Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr...

id like to join :) wat got me first interested in eragon was the film. from that i started reading the books and thats about it

All right, welcome to the club shot571! I never saw the movie, actually. I might rent it when I get the chance.

The movie sucks. It is rubbish and is nothing like the books. Actually, not one bit is the same in the movie as in the book, so if you have read the book, only get the film if you want to see how rubbish and far fetched it is.

Yeah, I've heard bad reviews for it from other fans of the books. I saw the trailer for it and it looked odd... The thing I hate about watching movies about books is that my interpretation of the characters and how they look is way off. (The only movie that was spot-on for my visualizations of the book was Harry Potter.)
Anyway, I might rent it just so I can see it. Then I'll post a lengthy rant here...

The only film I've ever watched that is pretty much the moving version of the book is Holes. That film was excellent, and the things they said were the same as well. That was the only good book film for me. Harry Potter is the same, but they cut short a lot of the action. In number 5 the battle with Voldemort could have been a lot longer and better.

Well, I finished the movie :P It wasn't actually that bad, but they made it too short. Also, it barely followed the book. In the beginning, the narrator kills the mood of the story. This would have been the perfect beginning:

A short montage of Arya and her team fleeing the Shade, then the egg being teleported. Then, Eragon wakes up, and for a few minutes, we just get a picture of everyday Carvahall life. Then he goes hunting, and the egg appears before him. etc. etc.

In all, the movie was just too rushed. I heard that Christopher Paolini wasn't there when they were filming or writing the script. If he were there, then the movie coudl ahve been better.

Right you are Flash; the movie could've been way better! I think they did a decent job on Saphira though....

Yes, Saphira was teh good, but the way teh movie went away from teh books was bad,,,,books > movie.

(I am not member, and don't intend to be. Just thought I'd post since I LOVED teh Inheritance cycle, and I wanted to share a view. Carry on. I'm not here. XD)

I would like to join. I am a huge fan of this series. I can't remember how it started, I think that it had something to do with my dad getting it...

I will say that my favorite book was Eldest(Roran FTW), however, as I can't remember much of Eragon, I'm gonna have to say my second favorite was Brisingr.

Another thing is is that I saw the movie. Worst waste of money ever, was so not worth going to the theatre for. They could have done much better.

The only bit I liked was Saphira. She was good, but not like the illustrations on the books, which are better. All in all, the film is not worth buying, and it was too short, and it leant nowhere near the books.

All right, welcome to the club Missingno.7-4468!
And I agree with everyone's criticisms of the movie :/
In my opinion, the actor who played Brom should have played Galbatorix. Arya's ears weren't even pointed. Overall, I can tell that they didn't make much of an effort. The trailer looked better than the movie, though.

I think it's time for a new topic! (P.S. Anyone can make a new topic, in case I haven't mentioned that already.)

Do you pronounce any names differently than they're supposed to be?
I pronounce Arya 'Ar-eye-ah' instead of 'Ar-ee-uh'
I pronounce Saphira 'Saf-eye-rah' instead of 'Suh-fear-ah'
I pronounce Glaedr 'Glah-dee-er' (It's ridiculous, I know :P) instead of 'Glay-dr'

I think that the guy who played Brom was perfect. They did really have to make up what Galbatorix looked like, I don't remember him ever described in the books.

Anyway, I don't think I pronounce anything differently...I may pronounce a few Ancient Language/Dwarven words wrong though...

I would like to join ^.^

At first i didn't like it because the movie is crap but when Brisingr came out i thought "Meh, may aswell read it" and i have enjoyed it every since.

I enjoy thing about my joke of what Galbatorix's true name is (i say D***head) :D

I got a question.

Who do you think the third egg will hatch for?
Personally I have no idea so i was wondering what others thought

another question

Where do you think Eragon will go once he leaves Alagaesia?
I think it is not that he will leave alagaesia but simply will not walk there as he will be riding Saphira instead

All right, welcome to the club, Lockmaster24!
I almost always read the book before watching the movie, and this was exactly the case in this series. I got Eragon at a book fair, and I've been interested ever since.

Who do you think the third egg will hatch for?
I actually have no clue :P I used to assume it would hatch for Arya, but if you see my spoiler a few posts ago, you'll find out why I don't think that anymore. Whoever it is, I guess I'll be satisfied.

Where do you think Eragon will go once he leaves Alagaesia?
Probably Vroengard. Either that, or a different land across the sea.

Spoiler:

I think he and Arya will get married (or whatever its called) and have a child. They will then move to Carvahall, rebuild the farm, and live there. Saphira will fall in love with the next Dragon (a male green dragon, is my prediction).

Eragon tried to teach Roran magic in the third book, but he didn't have any progress at all. I think if he was destined to be the next Rider or whatever, he would have shown at least some progress in magic.
But then again, maybe the power resides in him already, and he hasn't learned to tap into it yet. Remember all those things he went through in books 2 and 3? That would be nearly impossible for a normal human. Of course, he was driven by love for Katrina, but maybe a certain power exists in him that he isn't aware of yet.

Yeah, I agree with you guys. It would be unlikely...but i think it would be kinda cool to see Roran as the next Rider; it would be a huge syrprise anyway.

It would make sense for Roran to be a Rider. It would be kinda cool if the three new riders were all related to Eragon. (Murtagh is his half-brother, and Roran is his cousin)
Christopher Paolini said that the next Rider would be a 'surprise'... so the next Rider will be who we least expect it to be. But anyways, 'surprise' is a vague term, and all we can do is theorize :P

Who do you think the third egg will hatch for?
Personally, I don't really know, but I don't think that it will be arya or Roran. Since Arya is a princess and all, plus with the whole genre thing it would really be to cliche of Christopher Paolini.
