Hope you all had a nice christmas.

Latis might appear at battle tower.
Thanks and can you post a new topic about Latias and Latios, Skii?

Should the Latis be able to breed like Manaphy?
No, I don't think so. Because Latias and Latios can't breed with other Pokemons.

Erm, I don't really understand that question. By "breed," do you mean "create some watered-down version of the bred Pokemon *koff-Phione-koff* just for the PokeDex and truly epic lulz?"

Because if so, I strongly disagree with that question.

About the current question, I think the tradition of no breeding legends should be continued.

As for the Japanese intro to Heroes, I read about it, but I haven't actually seen it. There's no explanation of where the Dew comes from, except that the Latis have it, so we're only left to guessing.

I suppose Phione is just copied off Manaphy.

A baby of the Latis could look different though.
I am not sure about a baby Latias/Latios. Does it need one, Skii?

~Rene~ :t025:

Nope it doesnt need one.

I was just being more detailed with the topic.
I see, I agree with you. Because the Latis can't breed.

You know, this topic is making me realize that Nintendo is quite contradictory about the tendencies of the Latis. Although one cannot breed the Latis in the games, there's evidence (even in the games) to say otherwise.

Here's a quote from the Emerald PokeDex about Latias:

"They make a small herd of only several members. They rarely make contact with people or other Pokémon. They disappear if they sense enemies."

The unedited Japanese version of Pokemon Heroes also shows more than one of each Lati in the legend described in the movie's first two minutes.

The only logical explanation for this is seems to be that the Latis cannot or will not breed in captivity. If we really want to get scientific, I know a story about how a wealthy man kept several cheetahs of both genders in captivity. However, for some reason, the cheetahs lived long lives and died without breeding.

The reason behind this was that because they were caged, the female cheetahs could not run. Apparently, running causes the female cheetahs to ovulate, allowing the species to breed.

Do you guys think that something like that applies to the Latis and maybe even a few other Legendaries?

Yeesh! Sorry for the inactivity guys, recent computer upgrades meant I was very busy and my internet was inaccessible ^.^;

Should the Latis be able to breed like Manaphy?

Well, I wish they could breed, but they cant, and they have a legitimate reason not to (gameplay-wise, that is). Being legendaries ("good" legendaries, not like Manaphy), they are already powerful when you catch them. Because you only see them once in your game, their stats and nature are random, and if youre lucky, then you get a good legendary. But if you could breed them, then you could breed to get the perfect nature, moveset, IVs, etc. and they'd be too powerful desu~ And then also their rarity would be diminished. =/

From just a non-gameplay standpoint, yes, I think so, because all surviving species of sentient beings can breed (unless they're immortal o_0, which, we already know, the Latis are not), and they all need to breed to keep the species and gene pool alive. It's basic Biology! D:

Nice answer, Ratiasu-kun. I will post the next topic now. Here's one:
Did you use your Latias/Latios in battles or contests?

~Rene~ :t025:

I know I do. I have a level 100 Latias pretty much permanently in my party. It doesn't have that great of IV's or any EV training, but it has a rather nice moveset and can still bring on the pain.

Did you use your Latias/Latios in battles or contests?

I'm so close to catching a Latios! So, no, not yet.

Did you use your Latias/Latios in battles or contests?

Why taunt me with these 'Did you use your Lati In...?' topics. :(
Sorry, Skii. I will change the topic about Latias and Latios.
