Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. So, here's 2000 words:
    Spoiler:

What do you think of the logos for the games this time around? Do you prefer the English versions, or the Japanese versions? Do you think there is anything we can learn about the game's plot or features from the logos? In particular, what do you think the Prism in the Japanese logos will be - a new key item for Prism Solgaleo/Lunala, or something more?

Too bad the English versions omit more of the logos, but I do like them better. Didn't they also have a prism or something like that in the logos for the original SM? Which, now that I think about it, is probably supposed to represent the Z-Crystals. Maybe there will be an alteration of the Z-Crystals..?

I think that prism in the Japanese logos might be the item that activates Solgaleo and Lunala's new forms, much like how the OR/AS Japanese logos had the Red & Blue Orbs which activate Groudon and Kyogre's Primal forms.

I prefer english logos. I can't understand other languages without translating them by phone.

I prefer the Japanese logo. i mean the English one seems monotone with the same font, same style of word on "Pokemon". that's why i am playing in Japanese instead of English even though the one i play is Asia/US region.

I prefer the Japanese logos, honestly
The English text seems so slapped while also covering the legendary icons (? icons? logos?). The gradients on the bottom text is also appealing! As mentioned before; I appreciate the prisms in the Pokemon japanese text.

I think the English logos have better text, but the Japanese logos are better presented - there is a more individual feel to them; they're customised to fit the game theme, rather than simply recoloured the way the English logos are. Over time the latter have gotten better, but the English logos still miss out on the little things, like the Prism in the Japanese logos.

Given past trends I'd expect the Prism to be a key item of some description, especially considering its the same across both of the Japanese logos. It looks vaguely reminiscent of Necrozma's "face" area, so it seems likely. I'm kinda disappointed that it isn't star-shaped though; evidently its not that missing piece of Necrozma on its back. Which is a shame.

A little black (or a lot of black) works wonders, though. Aesthetically I find these more appealing than the SM logos because of it.

Even B2W2's logos had a crystal triangle the second main color of the dragon absorbed. And now that I think about it, the triangle shape might've been a refrence to the DNA splicer which is a triangle...

And there there's XY with the Mega Evolution DNA helix.

EdIt: Wait a minute... another game with possible fusion and a triangle prism on the logo? xD These really do sound similar to B2W2.

There's those alright, and S/M's logo having Z-Crystals in them. It's a common trend that the Japanese logos hint towards an item that will be prominently featured in the game.

Yeah, they either reference something in the story, or reference the game's name (more so the older games pre B2W2), or both (B2W2 and beyond).

Japan always gets the better logos because they've allowed the shape of the title to change over time. The English version has stuck with the same "Pokemon" logo in the same yellow-and-blue font for years, and end up having it clash with Japan's new, different designs. The English approach is better from a branding perspective, honestly, and it's not so big a deal that you really notice, but it does mean that Japan gets more visually consistent logos.

I do like the Japanese logos better as well, and I think that's because of how they change the text visually when a new generation starts. They had one style of the "Pokemon" text in Gens 1-2, then changed it for 3rd Gen, then again for 5th Gen, and so on.
