What is it, and who did it?

My best friend once gave up the chance to see her favourite band playing live to come visit me in hospital on my birthday, but other than that I can't really think of anything big. x]

I have no stories. Not one. Not one selfless thing anybody has ever done for me (except of course the usual parental sacrifice stories that don't really count since being selfless for your kids is kind of a parents' job). I just realised, thinking about this question and looking at all the people in my life, I am the one that makes the sacrifice and does the selfless stuff in all of my friendships. Man, my friends suck.

Though I guess I've never really been in a situation where I needed anything from anybody, so they haven't really been given the opportunity to be selfless. I might test them one day.

OHWAIT. I do have this one friend who sees movies with me when nobody else wants to see them... even if she doesn't want to see them either. That's pretty much it though XD.

I have given up the chance to go see one of my favourite bands, because my mate broke up with her boyfriend and she was heart broken... SHE STILL OWES ME FOR THAT!

Only thing I can think of currently.

Certain parental sacrifices can go beyond mere 'job description'. There's things like putting off prior engagements to go to a piano recital which, yeah... that's sort of the job description; but then there's literally putting one's life on hold for your children. My mum, for example, stopped working completely for five years to look after my brother and I. She didn't have to do it, by any means, but she did. And to this day I'm ridiculously grateful for that sacrifice, as it was pretty much entirely for our benefit.

Wow is it bad that I can't think of anything? I'm usually the one who considers doing something selfless for my friends, but then remembers that I'm always the one who does that and they don't necessarily (haha, this post is 100% self-contradicting but w.e) so then I don't.

idk if this counts? But my best friend looked for job openings in the city I'm in, and well lol my best friend is in another state. Even though nothing really came out of that, it still meant something that he looked...I thought it was sweet. He looked in the neighboring cities too (they're all in pretty close proximity of each other)...and he changed his mind about a certain issue we struggled with a lot, and still kinda do. Even though nothing is happening with that currently, maybe someday something will. Hi I like being vague.
