Is saying somebody is better than you saying you are crap??? No, it's not, but I expect no less an assumption from you since my only experience with you was to learn that you take things too personally.

And you can't train a team competitively without training EV's, because EV's are what make a Pokemon something and not something else. You can't train a sweeper without trainign EV's because without the concentration on attack and speed he can't sweep well.

And please God, do not tell me what competitive battling is about when you have no clue. The number one motto of competitive battling is that competitive battling in not the same as the in-game story. The Battle Pike is an in-game function. Clearly you have no idea of any of the clauses for competitive battling either, because there are several that prohibit items and moves that are based solely on luck. Because something is one way in-game, never assume that is what competitive battling is about, because Nintendo did not create competitive battling, the players did.

Lol yeah. Maybe you should reconsider what gyms are staying and who needs to change or revamp their gyms. And be more picky in the selection. Then again, it is YOUR league and whatever you have in mind for the league is what matters the most. Just a suggestion

If you don't know what EV training is or why it's useful, then you're never going to see Greene's point. His point is well made (and kind of obvious, sorry Iyo) and you should definitely think about what he's saying.

In competitive battling, it's not all about type effectiveness or all-powerful moves like it is in-game, it's about creating a team of pokemon with roles and abilities that complement each other and work towards a common goal or strategy. That's not to say that teams are built with one specific strategy in mind (although some are), rather that teams are built to strategically defend and attack threats and opponents of the team.

I'm no buff at competitive battling. But I have been watching youtube competitive battlers all summer long (and into the fall), played on Shoddy for a month now, and EV trained/ team built since the third generation. I'd like to say I understand the nature of competitive battling and basics of said battling.

If you need any help understanding the true importance of EV's in competitive battling then I'd be more than happy to explain. I really think that if you are to become a battler then you should look into guides on competitive battling and participate in the smogon tutoring. I myself am going to sign up for the next round of tutoring on smogon (I've missed it three times in a row now, but they are re-doing the system to make it easier for people to learn).

Don't be insulted by what he's saying, I think he's trying to help you but
A) He's saying it bluntly
B) You're taking the offensive and not really reading what he's saying
C) You have different values in the game than others

I personally think that the EV idea is novel, which matches the theme of the league, but it's not very plausible. It's not competitive battling without EV's. Anyone can just get some pokemon together and some moves and start battling. The next level is to find out what pokemon successfully uses what moveset and what EV stat spread and using it successfully and "correctly" (In the competitive battling sense of the word)

I guess you mean that I shouldn`t have 5 gym leaders which all train pokemon in a different color (one is training yellow-colored, the other red-colored, the third blue-colored, etc.).

No, I mean that if some gym's aren't very creative then you shouldn't just automatically accept them. Again, it's up to you and your standards. And maybe some of the gyms right now aren't very well thought out and half-assed and the gym leaders need to revamp their rules and conditions on battles to make it more creative and entice more people to battle.

Let me say something. Most of my experience in battling off PC has been against unEvd pokes. Unless you constantly hit your enemy over and over again without missing with a super effective move, beating them can take a while. I've had several epic un-EV'd battles. And with no OHKO or Sleep, and quick claw allowed, my challengers will see epic battles.

Edit: EVing takes time. New PC members and battlers often can't do it. They won't be alienated in my gym. EVing doesn't in the slightest more or less competitive, it just makes some Pokes go down quicker, some slower.

But I`m going to ev train some of my old/new pokemon, so they are more resistent against challengers.

If you don`t ev, then you could also go for a shoddy battle.
You can choose your pokemon, legal moves, legal stats, evs and ivs.
Ta-daaa! You`ve got a team with good pokemon.

I'd love to know who these trainers are, 'cause I've battled pretty much every battler on this site with the exception of the ladder people. All the ladder people EV train. And out of every battle I've had here, maybe 8% of them didn't EV train. There's nothing epic about 6 monkeys hitting random attack moves and seeing who luckily got more attack EV's when training, or who the RNG favours best. That's the jungle mate, not Pokemon battling.

P.S. I love how so many people are making arguments about what battling is and how important EV's are when they really haven't a clue.

Rules :
- Battles will be on Shoddy Battle
- No ubers, and only 1 OU Pokemon
- Fair IVs and EVs (read the Baby Gym's rules for examples)
- Only 3 main pokemon (I will only use 3 as well) ~ other 3 must be Bidoof. So once the main three pokemon are defeated, the preson defeated must forfeit the match.

Clauses :
- Uber Clause (Those Pokemon are not allowed : *smogon.com link removed*)
- OHKO Clause (Moves, which kill pokemon with one hit, are not allowed. Those are Horn Drill, Fissure, Guillotine and Sheer Cold)
- Evasion Clause ("Attack-Accuracy decreasing Moves" are not allowed. Those are Double Team, Sand-Attack and Minimize)
- Sleep Clause (You are allowed to make just one of the opponents pokemon sleep - oppenent pokemon using rest doesn`t count)
- Illegal Hacks Clause (Pokemon with 999 HP/ATK/DEF/SP.ATK/SP.DEF/SPD are not allowed)
- Hax Item Clause (Items like Focus Band are not allowed)
