    Pokemon: The New League

    Plot:

Hello, and welcome to Sinnoh, the rather new region of the Pokémon world.

It's the year 1988, exactly 21 years before the time that you know. Sinnoh has only existed as a proper region for about 15 years, but the cities are booming with life, no matter how new that life is to the region of Sinnoh. Many people have chosen to immigrate to the island, either to seek a new life, or because the colder climate draws them.

Naturally, the population of Sinnoh is rather young. There are a few older people, people whose families had lived in Sinnoh for generations, people who have retired but weren't quite done seeing the world. But most of the population consists of curious young adults, or the adults who had come in the previous immigration wave. Sinnoh is quickly filling up with people from far and wide, appreciating the beauty of the island.

Assuming that Sinnoh is behind the times is a grief mistake. Sinnoh has all of the newest technology that the other regions have. The newly introduced red and white Poké Ball are starting to replace the old fashioned Apri Balls. PokéDexes that spill out information like a portable encyclopedia. There are even rumors that some of the professors were trying to develop a talking PokéDex, heaven forbid.

There is lots to be excited about. The new tunnels through Mt. Coronet allow the travelers to go through the mountain, instead of over the treacherous peaks, or around entirely. The semi-nuclear generator by Floarama Town has the people of the town quite worried about the air, but it is promised to be quite safe indeed, and very clean. Sunnyshore's people are experimenting with less dangerous ways of generating energy, but they are a far ways from a breakthrough, and it is the least electrical town of whole Sinnoh at the moment.

Of course, the Oreburgh mines have been providing the citizen of all Sinnoh with coal for ages, and the town is booming with working opportunities. Only Snowpoint city isn't doing too well, most people are avoiding the cold place as much as they can.

Now comes the newest development that Sinnoh is very proud of. Their own Pokémon League. They had it coming for a while, so many people and Pokémon. For the past year, Sinnoh's government had been working very hard on creating Gyms, Centers and Marts all around the island, the word got spread around through all of the Regions. They even employed the already reknown Professor Rowan to collect some Pokémon for giveaway.

After over a year of planning, it was finally ready. The newly employed Gym leaders were buzzing in place, ready to start. The people in Sinnoh were all on end. The Pokémon would all be given away from four points in the continent. Professor Oak flew over to give away the Pokémon in Sunnyshore, Professor Holly from Johto was ready to give the kids in Veilstone their creatures, Professor Maple was stationed in Eterna for this lucky day and the Professor Rowan himself was situated in Sandgem.

    You:

You are a teenager who lives closest to the Sandgem giveaway point, which is the laboratory itself. You've signed up to be part of the first Pokémon League of Sinnoh, and are about to receive your very first Pokémon. You think you're up to the challenge, but there's only one way to find out. Good luck.

    Rules:

    - Biggest one: Be Active!!! I am planning on feeding you at least one chapter a week, but I'd like to do more than that. I want it to go fast paced, if you don't think you could keep up with it, then please don't sign up. If you're going to be away for a while, just tell me, I'll understand. But you'd have some catching up to do.

    - No Godmodding, bunnying, disrespecting your elders and all that jazz. Play nice. Also, all PC rules apply, got it memorized?

    - I am God. I can do anything. Doesn't mean I want to, or I will. But I can.

    - Spellcheck is a rule.

    - If you are trying to capture a Pokémon, I would like to see the post ending with the ball shaking and whatnot. I decide on a capture. I'm really not all too hard on this, but the level will depend on the post quality. Also, check with me before attempting a shiny capture, or do anything that's not in the chapter outline. I won't bite.

    - Legendaries are off-limits.

    - Have fun. It's a rule.

    Name: Selene Bihar
    Gender: Female
    Age: 14

    Appearance:
Selene considers herself average for a girl. She doesn't strive to be too thin, even though it is in her genetics. She has an average body size, though some people consider her to be skinny. As far as her height goes, she stands at roughly five feet and six inches tall. It seems like she hasn't inherited her father's height, which is something she's thankful for. Her chest size is rather small, which is something that she inherits from her mother. This particularly annoys her even though she pretends it doesn't. Selene has very, very light tan skin. It looks like she got a slight tan in the sun really, her tan is so light. As for her hair, it's soft and silky and black. She refuses to use any chemical product on her hair, for fear of messing up its softness. Moving onto her face. Selene's face is a soft oval shape that some consider almost perfect. She has light chocolate brown eyes, something she inherited from her father's side of the family.

As far as clothing goes, Selene gets her choices mostly from her mother's tomboyishness when she was a kid. Selene will often wear a pair of jeans (much like the rest of her family, as a matter of fact) and a simple and random T-shirt. She has recently become addicted to the slightly newer clothes that have been arriving in the region. That being said, she enjoys the jeans that are beginning to come out looking worn when in reality they are new. She also likes T-shirts of famous bands that reside in Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn. Sinnoh's development has sort of stretched her choices in clothing, though she probably won't dream of straying too far from the average shirt and jeans look. For shoes, Selene just sticks with a pair of Converse that her mom managed to bring back on one of her trips to see her parents in Johto. They're black with red on the tongue and heel, and Selene loves them because she thinks her shoes look unique compared to everyone else's. For accessories, Selene sticks with a necklace she got from her father made out of gold, a guy's watch, and two bracelets on her right wrist.

    Personality:
Selene has often been told by her Uncle Chad and her father that she's very much like her mother when she was Selene's age. Selene is rather tomboyish, doesn't like arrogant guys, and is an average person generally. To elaborate on the being average part, Selene is almost like multiple personalities split into one mush of average. She can be very friendly, especially if she's around someone she likes or her friends. She can also be very mean and cold to people, especially if (for some odd reason) she immediately dislikes them. Selene can also get very shy, especially around her peers and people she doesn't know. This occasionally will result in her being known as one of those quiet girls but, unless you really know her, that's a completely false statement to make. Often Selene will be happy go lucky and loud around her friends. She might seem great at first, but she does have quite a few flaws in her personality. The greatest one is her temper. Selene will often get angry about things that she thinks is unfair, or something of the like, and this will cause her to get stubborn. By stubborn, I mean that if someone told her to do something she wouldn't do it, no matter who they were.

To sum her up so she doesn't seem as crazy in regards to personality, here's what she is. All around she gets along better with guys, doesn't like being pushed around, can be shy but is normally friendly, and isn't someone that you would want to make mad. Basically her personality is completely her mom's, the only thing she really gets from her dad is the fact that she's fairly smart for her age. Selene has also lived a good life, so it's stuck with her and has probably molded her personality to the way it is. Selene also is often thinking and asking people questions, but she keeps this to herself. She doesn't want people to really know she thinks this way, because she would rather be known as someone who has just a funny personality rather than a serious one.

    History:
Selene was born in Sinnoh, and has lived there ever since. The rest of her family (her mother, father, uncles, aunts, and brother) all grew up in Johto or Kanto. This annoys Selene a bit, because really she's never been outside Sinnoh but they seem to have all gone out in the world. This is one of the things that stimulated her into becoming a Pokemon trainer. Selene grew up in a fairly average household. Her parents didn't really fight at all, so she is pretty sheltered in that way. Though she may seem naive at first, Selene knows the troubles that the world holds because she's experienced quite a few of these (such as her friend deserting her) already. She is also no stranger to how perverted guys can be. So yes, she's sheltered in a few ways, but not too many.

Many people often say that they greatly dislike having a sibling and such, but Selene actually finds it great to have an older brother. They always got along very well, so she never really thought twice about disliking him. She and her brother often hung out together, especially when they were younger. When she turned 11, however, he began to venture further away from her and towards his own friends. So from then on, Selene was basically on her own and quiet around her family. She grew up though, and they began to get closer again, so Selene is a bit sad that she's leaving him for her journey. As far as her parents go, Selene has a very close relationship with her mother, and a pretty close one to her father. She's also very close to her "Uncle" Chad. All in all, her home-life and past is very good.

    Starter: Cranidos

Sample: Do I really have to stick this in here? How many times have I RPed/SUed with/for you? XD But if you'd really like it, I can add it later.

    Name: Bryce Johnson

    Gender: Male

    Age: 16

Appearance: Bryce is kind of on the short side. He stands at 5 feet even. He weighs about 120 pounds. His build is small. While he's not skin and bones, he does not have much muscle content. He has dark brown eyes. His hair is trimmed short. His skin has a slight tan to it. Once, he wore glasses but stopped wearing them because he thought they made him look weak.

Bryce favorite outfit is a red, black, and white striped polo shirt, tucked out, and khaki pants. He has a black coat that he wears whenever it is cold outside. This is stuffed away in his backpack or draped over his shoulder when it is not cold. He wears all-white tennis shoes. He can always be seen with his blue backpack. He likes to keep it kind of heavy, maybe so that he could maybe bulk up a bit, though this never succeeds. He is one to always keep himself well-groomed.

Personality: Bryce is described as a power hungry tyrant by those who know him. He is very controlling. He would never give up to someone else's wishes if they do not match his own. In fact, if he does not get his way, he throws a fit. Once, his parents tried to send him to a reformatory school, but this only proved to make him even worse. Many people think that he is spoiled but it is the exact opposite. This is explained more in the history.

Bryce's battle style with Pokémon is very aggressive. He will do whatever it takes to win a battle or make his Pokémon stronger. Many times, he disregards even the Pokémon's health. He does care for them, but he would not usually realize this until something terrible happens to the Pokémon. Then, he spends all of his time trying to fix things and promising to be a better trainer, only to revert back to his old ways in a day or two.

History: Bryce grew up in Sandgem Town, where he attended the Pokémon Academy in Jubilife City. As a child, he was picked on because of he was smaller than the other kids. Whether this was the true reason or whether it was jealousy, he did not know. Bryce's family was better off than most. His father had helped to create the Pokedex. He himself knew a great deal about Pokémon and how to exploit certain traits in order to improve upon the Pokémon, constantly playing with and helping to train the Pokémon that his father kept around the house, although he never owned one of his own. He always played either by himself, or with a fellow classmate who was also picked on.

One day, while the local bully was picking on him and his friend, he decided that enough was enough. He decided that only the weak would survive in this world. Only the strong and aggressive would make it and become successful. It was only natural. This law applied to both humans and Pokémon alike. Weak humans and weak Pokémon would only perish in today's world. From that day forth, Bryce devoted himself to surrounding himself with strong people and even stronger Pokémon. That way, he could only succeed.

When Bryce heard of the new Pokémon distribution soon to come to Sandgem Town, he decided that now was as good a time as ever to begin his Pokémon journey…

    Starter: Mankey

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sample: I haven't done many RP's but this is from one that I am currently participating in.

Takumi left the Pokémon Center as if he had just seen a ghost. Why would anyone want to choose him to participate in an elite event? He only had four badges, and he was barely able to get those four. Maybe it was a set-up. Maybe someone knew who he was.

"What do you think we should do?" He asked his two Pokémon. Denki shook her head as if to say yes. Umbreon didn't reply at all. "Well," he thought. "I guess we'll go."

The train ride to Snowpointe City was a long one. The captain had told him that he would have to recall his Pokémon, but a quick look at Denki's and Umbreon's faces told him that a move like that would be terribly foolish.

    "I don't think I can." Takumi replied.
"Well, I'll let it slide this time, but you're gonna have to pay extra fare." That was no problem at all. It was a lot better than getting shocked to death.

While on board, Takumi saw some interesting figures. Maybe they're going the same way as I am, he thought. He looked out the window as Denki and Umbreon slept. I hope this ride is over already, he wished to himself. His vision grew cloudy and the next minute, he was asleep.

Skreeeee!!! The train stopped abruptly. Takumi was knocked out of his seat. Denki and Umbreon both jumped to their feet, ready to attack.

"We've arrived at Snowpointe City," said a voice over the intercom. "Thank you for choosing the Sinnoh Magnet Train." At this, Takumi and all of the other passengers exited the train. The next stop was the Pokémon Center.

As he approached the desk, he noticed that Nurse Joy almost seemed to read his mind. "Lance is down the hall, third door on the right." She pointed him in the direction.

"Thanks," he replied, grateful that he didn't have to say anything. He went in the direction he was pointed towards and entered the room.

Upon entering the room, Takumi noticed that there were many people who were already there. He recognized Lance, a bunch of people who seemed to be his followers, and Cynthia. He grew excited at seeing so many big shots in one room. Then, he saw that there were a lot of not-so-big shots. Oh great, I'm late, he thought to himself. Now all eyes are gonna turn on you and…

"You can sit if you'd like." Cynthia was looking at him.

"Oh, right." Takumi took a seat in the back row. Not until I get to know some of these people, he told himself. He looked around the room. There was one girl with a Sneasel. There was another boy with a Luxray just like his. It was also female. Oh no, he thought. He looked over at his own Luxray. Her eyes began to gleam. Rivalry's effect didn't last long, as Denki and Umbreon had soon relaxed themselves and fallen asleep. He wished he could sleep himself, but that would be embarrassing.

Fenris-omega- - Yeah I now exactly what you're talking about :d Thanks for conveying the message btw, Cranidos is reserved for 24 hours.

Rockman0 - Could you please use the normal font and colour. The fluorescent green doesn't show up well on most Styles, including mine, and the font kind of throws me off. Besides that, you're accepted.

Charzeon and Pikakip, you are both reserved for 24 hours, get your Sign-ups in asap, please.

Drunk -thinger- - I sent you a vm, but apart from the Pokemon issue, you are completely accepted.

    Name: Selene Xanthis

    Gender: Female

    Age: 14

Appearance: The teenage girl is slim and short, blending into a crowd, like an ant blends into a pile of leaves. Her hair is long and silver, the color of a raging waterfall. The sky blue eyes are wide, with youth and innocence. The chin makes her innocent upper face forgotten by the people who can actually see it. Her body is as pale as a winter snowstorm. It looks very malnourished and weak, but in reality, it is actually in fair shape.

Selene usually wears a pale moon colored shirt in the day. As well, she wears a jacket that is violet, a color of the night. Also, she wears black or white pants. At night, she is extremely formal. She wears a black top and a moon-paled yellow tie. Her pants are short and red. She wears a similar outfit at Pokemon League competitions.

Personality: Selene is very quiet and peaceful, like a night on the ocean. She practices meditation daily. She is very shy. However, obedience is in her nature. If she has a job, she gets it done. A very talented teen is she, able to play the clarinet and flute. She is also considered very hard working.

On the downside, Selene is very impatient and is easily angered. Very few take her seriously. They think she is funny when she tries to be serious. The passive teenager easily is led into things, such as alcohol, but she quit after like 3 drinks. In school, her locker is very disorganized.

History: Born in Johto, Selene has lived a life of hardship. The family lived, back then, in a small home in Mahogany Town. They were very poor. As well, the family did not have an education and was divorced, the father living with them. The father was a ski instructor, and wanted Selene to be the same.

Selene was worked very hard by her father on very steep mountains, such as Mt. Mortar. She was very tired chronically, but Mr. Xanthis didn't really care.

    Starter: Shuppet, por favor

    Sample:

Please do not use French around me. I take Spanish!

OK, I'm going to, um, have to finish, em, tomorrow because I have to get of la computadora.

Thanks much for accepting me! I changed the fonts for you.

Infinite Meditation - Declined. Seriously, long and silver hair? Moon coloured shirt? Whatever colour is the moon anyway? You're character just smells of Mary Sue. I have no choice but to decline.

Rockman - Thank you very much, it's much better this way =]

Drunk -thinger- - I sent you a vm, but apart from the Pokemon issue, you are completely accepted.

umm... so i can choose from shuppet or skitty huh?

well, i really am not fond of either one, so if it really is a problem to stay with phanpy, then i'll go with shuppet =S

besides that, thanks for accepting me, i'm looking forward for it =)

    Name: Ethan Sarvais

    Gender: Male

    Age: 15

Appearance: Young as he is, Ethan's body is still growing, but that doesn't stop his height of 5'5" from bothering him any less. He's got long, lanky limbs, as many boys his age do, with a little muscle tone, though he could stand to build more. In simple terms, he's a chicken legs. As a result he prefers to wear jeans at all times, long and baggy, held up by a simple black belt. The exact color of them does not matter. One day he may wear black jeans, the next dark denim, and the next light denim. There's no pattern to it, he just grabs the first thing available out of his closet.

As far as shirts go, he's not particular. He does have his favorites, such as his grey shirt with an abstract art form Gyrados hissing, but most of the time he'll just wear whatever is available. His wardrobe consists of the aforementioned Gyrados shirt and a multitude of other colors, though none too bright. A pair of white sneakers with black soles and laces can be often found on his feet, as they're very comfortable and practical, and he loves them.

Ethan's dark chocolate brown hair does as it wishes. The ends curl slightly and just barely brush the nape of his neck. When the sun hits it at just the right angle, it appears to be black. His eyes are a light grey color and full of pride, for he is a very prideful young man.

Personality: Ethan has issues with arrogance. He believes he has the power to excel at anything he does, and while that sounds good in theory it causes plenty of problems. Often he misjudges his capabilities and lands himself in a difficult situation because of this. Having been slightly spoiled growing up, he thinks he deserves the best of everything, including the best Pokemon team. It may be an issue for him to learn to respect them as living creatures, not just monsters at his command. While he does have the capability to show affection and adoration the ability doesn't often shine past his callous and potentially obnoxious exterior.

As far as interacting with others, he has a problem with respect that can be traced back to his arrogance. Unless someone does something to earn his respect they won't be getting it, and earning it from him is not easy. As a result he isn't often well-liked, at least not to his face. He tends to push his way to the front in every conversation and debate, bulldozing his way to the center of attention. When the spotlight has been securely focused on him he settles down and becomes more like the real Ethan: quiet, calm, and passionate about the things that interest him. Among these is Pokemon battling. The strategy and glory behind it fascinates him, and he wants to explore it further. Of course, nothing but the most powerful Pokemon would be suited for him. Especially not a pathetic Caterpie.

History: Ethan grew up with his mother and father in Canalave City, where his father owned several ships. Seeing as Canalave is a hub of trade they made a fair deal of money, ascertaining that they never wanted for anything. Being an only child Ethan was spoiled beyond what he ought to have been and given anything he asked for, whether it was essential to his happiness and wellbeingwell beingThe family owned a pet Glameow - or more accurately, Ethan's mother coveted a very fat and aggressive Glameow that she insisted was a family pet. Though he never liked it, when he was young Ethan would take it out into the front yard and train it to attack trees and such. That didn't go so well, as it was too fat to move quickly, but it sparked his interest in eventually building a Pokemon team.

When he was ten Ethan's father's business went under, quite literally; a massive population increase of Wailmer caused the sea to become saturated with the spherical fish Pokemon. One by one they sank the Sarvais' ships, along with their evolution, Wailord. With nothing left for them in Canalave they moved to Sandgem. Ethan neither liked nor disliked the move; he never really got along with kids in Canalave. In Sandgem it was much easier to manipulate the more sheltered children into thinking he was a cool rich kid and they should like him because of that. He matured slightly as he grew older, but not by much. He at least learned to be kinder to his peers, to manipulate people less, and to appreciate what he had slightly more. No matter the change, however, he was still a spoiled rich brat at heart. So when the distribution of Pokemon was announced he had to be one of the first to sign up. With his spot securely taken, all he had to do was wait to be introduced to the partner that would be with him, so he hoped, for the rest of his life.

    Starter: Caterpie

Sample: [This isn't Ethan, nor does this pertain to this RP. Let me know if you would rather my sample be more closely related to this, and I'll change it.]

His heart thudded in his chest as he sat on the bench in the locker room. This was what his entire life had been leading up to, or so it felt. For the last four years he had been training endlessly to get to where he was. In just a few minutes his name would be called on the loudspeaker and he would be expected to stride proudly out in front of a crowd of thousands and orchestrate the best artistic performance of his life. Not only would he be expected to battle, but he would be expected to be graceful while doing it, to make it look more like a dance than a fight. It was a challenge he faced with more seriousness than anything else he'd ever done. As a result he also felt more nervousness over it. No matter what happened here today his name would be remembered, either as the young trainer who fought and lost, or the trainer who won. He was going to do his best to become the latter.

From the screens mounted on the wall above the lockers he could see the current battle blazing on the floor above his head. Dust flew around a mightily trained Nidorino's feet as it charged repeatedly at a just as intimidating Golduck. The images did nothing to calm him down, for these were the Pokemon his own would be competing against. These were the trainers that he would have to prove his methods superior to. In a way, he felt sympathy for all of them. Every last one of them, save for one, had to lose, and he intended to be that one.

"Kaspar Hayes, come up into the stadium," the intercom summoned. He took a deep breath and rose to his feet, one hand on the six balls attached to his belt. Today would be the day they proved themselves. With one last glance at the tiled room behind him, he ascended the stairs into the light.

Before stepping out where all could see him he was asked to release his Pokemon from their balls. He did so, calling out a Camerupt, Kingler, Raticate, Magneton, Ekans, and Grovyle.

"Okay guys," he said shakily. "This is showtime. Just give them your best. I know what you can do, now you show them."

There were nods of agreement, though they all seemed just as skittish as he. Shoulders back, head held high, and Pokemon walking next to him, three on each side, Kaspar strode out into the spotlight, just as had been expected of him, knowing from that moment on his life would be different.

Strikit - Accepted. Nice Sign-up, I liked reading it. It should be interesting to see how his journey plays out.

Any chance of reserving/taking the seventh spot? College starts soon so I won't be able to create a decent SU in a half-hour.

I too would like to throw my hat in the ring! If there's any space left when I get home from work, that is. Fingers crossed!

    Could I reserve Shuppet??

Never mind then, let other people have fun.
