Just as a recap, I just got 4th party member, Mara (Maractus) and managed to level everyone up to Lv. 30 just for safety measures. The abundance of trainers in the Desert Resort helps alot.
Nimbasa: N and Elesa
Team Plasma was making trouble again, terrorizing old people. They were pushovers; so was N, who was swept by Sandra. Kinda weird to go on the ferris wheel with another guy though...(in game male protagonist).
Elesa was just as much of a pushover as the last gym. This time I had a Ground Type, and an Electric Type to resist her main stab. No problems so far.
Route 5: Alder, Cheren and an old friend
Cheren was even easier to take down now that Mara can heal herself off Dewott's Water moves. It really helps to have a something to deal with water types (since Poka/Sandra have that common weakness). I was really worried about the double battle, since Cheren isn't much of a help. Takedown hits for alot of damage too. Mara saved me though...thank god for Giga Drain.
New Member: Katerina
She's a homage to an old team member who we lost to Panpour in the first gym. Sniff...I miss you Katie.
Charizard Bridge: Red Wings (of Baron)
Well I guess its no surprise what pokemon I got from this area, given the 100% encounter rate...
Ah the swan pokemon...I have a soft spot for this little critter, so its getting promoted to the 5th member of the team (Katerina's on backup). Its also evolving soon, since its defenses are too bad to use before that.
Driftveil City: Its Freezing Cold
Just as I get here with Cheren, Clay ropes us in into finding team plasma. Sheesh, I know we're older than the usual 10 year olds but really! Who sends kids to capture criminals. Off to the cold storage; new area means new pokemon.
Patrice the Herdier:
Another backup member, nothing special but not too shabby either. Its just that two normal types on a team is too much.
Clay: A Facepalm and a Loss
Well Mara managed to take out his Palpitoad due to 4x stab, and Krokorok went down easily enough. That said Excadrill was a pain. I sent out Doc to get a reflect for our team, and he starts to set up Hone Claws. Doc has some defense so its still not even a 2HKO. I chose Dig for the Super Effective damage and it did a little over half. I could still take a hit, though...one more dig would KO. Stupid me clicked on Heal Pulse and that healed Excadrill up to near full HP. Crap...
I used Dig one more time, but Doc was close enough to a K.O. So I did what I had too...send in Scrappy (Pansage) to take a hit. Regenerator healed me just enough to survive. I pulled out the win, but it was close...
