Before I go any further with my LeafGreen Nuzlocke Challenge, I have a question. What do I do about the Route 1 Pokemon? Running into one of them is inevitable on your way to Viridian City. When you first head through the route, you don't have any pokeballs. You don't even get pokeballs till after you deliver Oak's Parcel to Professor Oak. So are the Route One Pokemon unavailable to catch once you get pokeballs if you had ran into them on your way to Viridian?
Yes, I do believe it counts as the first Pokémon. It shouldn't matter much since Route 2 contains pretty much all of the same ones as Route 1 does anyway.

Thanks for clearing that up and I actually took that as what it was before I read your response. Now onto my Nuzlocke Challenge.

Prologue: The Introduction
Spoiler:
Another boring passed by in the boring Town of Pallet for a bored thirteen year old boy named Artemis. Even his dreams themselves were boring themselves. Who in the world dreams about what they had for dinner? Oh wait, that would be me. The young teen thought as he snuggled up underneath the sheets of his bed, hoping that excitement would grace him tomorrow morning aka. his fourteenth birthday
"Hello, there! Glad to meet you!"
That voice, it was one that the young boy knew pretty well. Who was it again? It happened to be the the voice of professor Oak. Why is Professor Oak in my dream and why isn't he shirtless? Artemis was rather shocked when he heard himself think that. Sure, he knew that he was gay for a two years now but Professor Oak really? Wait a minute. Got the wrong Oak for a moment there. Anyways, moving on.
"Welcome to the world of Pokemon! My name is Oak. People affectionately refer to me as the Pokemon Professor."
Why are you telling me this? I know who you are and how could someone not know about Pokemon? Artemis asked in his head. It's not like it actually mattered anyways. It was only a dream after all.
"This world.... is inhabited far and wide by creatures called Pokemon."
Seriously? You'd have to be living under a Geodude not to know this. If this was an anime then the hero of our story would had a giant bead of sweat suddenly appear on his brow. Occasionally this could be followed by a palm to the face but our hero decided to go with annoyance for this is not an anime, this is a videogame. ...Since when did I have a narrator and did he just break the fourth wall?
Yes, yes I did.
"For some people, Pokemon are pets. Others use them for battling."
Reminds me of that Dog Fighting Story with Michael Vicks.
Quiet you. Apparently our young hero is getting annoyed with me.
"As for myself... I study Pokemon as a Profession."
Yes, I already knew this. Do you forget that you live next door to me.
"But first you must tell me a little about yourself. Are you a boy? Or are you a girl? I must know."
Creepy much? Also that's not his programmed text... oops.
Don't be ashamed. Breaking the fourth wall is fun.
"So you're a boy. Now what is your name?"
How don't you know my name is Artemis?
"Your name is Artemis, is it?"
I never said anything...
"This is my grandson. You two have been rivals since you were babies."
What in the world are you talking about? I don't see Gary anywhere.
"...Erm, What was his name again?"
Oh you poor, poor senile old man. I see that the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease are taking effect. How can one forget Gary's name?
Funny. I love a main character with a sense of humor.
Thanks... Artemis could just imagine a fanged grin coming from the mouth of the narrator of his story. The narrator had a pretty handsome grin if he did say so himself.Don't flatter yourself.
"Artemis! Your very own Pokemon Legend is about to unfold! A world of dreams and blah, blah, blah, blah. You know the rest. I give out this spiel too many times in these games."
Oh wow, the npc broke the fourth wall.
Now enough of that silly NPC. Let's get back to our main character now. As the rest of Professor Oak's text faded away, Artemis's mind scape was slowly filled with a bright white light. To our hero, that could only mean one of two things. Either he had died in his sleep and that explained all the craziness that was going on or maybe just maybe the light to his room was turned on. Turned out to be the latter when his eyes snapped open. It was early in the morning of his fourteenth birthday. What could happen on this day? Find out next time on-
"If you're going to narrate this story then I better not read anymore cliche chapter endings." Artemis commented with an icy glare that pierced through the very soul of this narrator. I like this kid already.
Introduction /skipskipskip/
Hi, Prof. Elm.
- Choosing the starter was a tough decision. This is the first step on a tough journey with an uncertain ending! In the end, I opted for Chikorita, seeing as she was my first starter a long time ago on Silver, and I remembered her having tough defenses. Also learned Razor Leaf at Level 7. I named her Sunny, vowing to protect her no matter what, and carrying this from beginning to end. *determined face*
OUT New Bark Town!
I looked at the grass and set the first foot, then the second. I was frightful that my first battle could end in desperation, but luckily I had some Potions Elm's partner gave me.
Nothing on the first patch.
Nothing on the second patch.
I ran to get a pokeball which was luckily a potion. I thought "meh, what can go wrong with this many potions.." and I threaded gloriously on the patch. BATTLE!
... I should stop at this point to say I had never felt so alive in a pokemon game since the first Silver game, and that the music never seemed lively as it did at that moment. A Level 4 Hoothoot. I wasn't going to back down from my first battle, so I did what I had to do: endlessly tackle the hoothoot. Luckily, he didn't hurt me much and so I rejoiced when he fainted. The second step was done. I had defeated my first pokemon and was alive. Hooray!
The rest was pretty much straightforward until Mr.Pokemon: got the running bag, and the apricorn shoes (I mean the running shoes and the apricorn bag). Also was surprised Mr.Pokemon healed me (oops, not my fault. Oh well). I grinded enough so that Chikorita would survive the first Rival battle and she did amazing: Lv.9 sunny won against a Lv.5 Cyndaquil, only barely scratched.
returning to Prof. Elm, got pokeballs, and decided to strategically structure my captures so that I got a Bellsprout on Route 31 and a Hoothoot from Route 29. But before that, since it was day, I caught a Modest (ugh) female Pidgey at Route 30. I named her Grace, seeing as how she seemed more gracious than other Pidgeys. Maybe I was wrong.
I got to Violet City and walked around a bit, before returning to look for the pokemon I had to catch.
And this is the end of the first chapter. At this point, I'm fairly happy, but also scared of what happens if I run out of moves. This means my grinding has to be strategical, at least until I get Ethers. And since I can only heal in battles... ... I wonder if there is any real way around this.
Chapter 2
Spoiler:
- Caught Lv3 Female Hoothoot, serious Nature. Nicknamed Holmes.
- Caught Lv3 Male Bellsprout, Jolly Nature. Named Bellie at Route 31.
- Caught Lv3 Male Geodude, Serious nature. Named Rockhard at Route 46.
- Traded the Bellsprout for an On- wait a second. I'm not allowed to trade, am I? ... Bellie has ran out of moves. I am doomed.
-Hoothoot was killed by a Stupid Lv3 Sentret. Crit hit Scratch.I mourned Holmes loss and proceeded to take mighty revenge on the Sentret.
- Entered the Bellsprout Tower. Defeated some guys. Got Flash. Captured a Lv3 Rattatta, nicknamed him Rabioso, serious Nature.
- Trained Rabioso and Rockhard for Falkner. Got to his gym. Faced Flakner with Rockhard, which leveled to 11 and learned Rock Throw at the best possible time, skewering his Pidgeotto instantly.
- Received the Togepi Egg at Violet City Mart. Will be named Fairytale.
- Caught a Lv6 Gentle Male Wooper at Route 32 nicknamed Blues.
- Caught a Lv5 Zubat at Union Cave, nicknamed him Genesis.
I did the chapter like this because for some reason the post killed himself and I had to redo it.

I tried to make it my own way, for example livening up the Pokemon's appearance a bit unfortunately spriting is not my strong point..
Hello again fellow challengers, I deleted the old leaf green save file (transferred my shiny Caterpie!) and I decided to begin once again the Nuzlocke challenge on my leaf green. So, here are the rules I'll be following:
1. If a Pokemon Faints, its dead, release it. 2. You can only catch/recieve one Pokemon in each Area. A town is one area, a route is one area, a cave is one area, etc. Should you fail to catch a Pokemon for any reason (other than game corruption) than too bad.
3. You must nickname all of your Pokemon (optional, but highly reccomended)
4. No catching legendaries.
5. Trading is disallowed, but the reasons following this clause are allowed. Egg trading is okay, same thing with Pokemon that can't have eggs. (optional) Trading simply for the purpose of evolution is perfectly OK.
6. Change the battle style to SET. (optional)
7. You can only use normal Pokemon balls to capture Pokemon (Safari balls are the only exception)
8. Though gyms - once when you enter a gym, you can't go out unless you beat the gym leader and you have to beat all trainers
9. You can't run away from wild Pokes unless your Pokemon's ability is Run Away (self destructing Geodudes will be a pain in the neck)
I am gonna try this nuzlocke challenge. Its is my first time and id like to sign up. I shall be doing it on myPOKEMON YELLOW The RULEZ 1. If a pokemon faints i must release it 2. the first pokemon i see in each new area will be the only pokemon i will be able to catch in that area. if it dies, runs away then im out of luck. 3. No LEGENDARIES 4. Must Nickname All Pokemon 5.No items Outside of battle. 6. I must make a diary of what happens. (i will post some up soon) 7. The game ends after the defeat of my rival in the final battle of the pokemon league. 8. Cannot Leave A Gym For no Reason. Once i set foot in it I will Have to either blackout or win to exit 9. if i run out of pokemon to use because theyve been released it will be considered a permanent game over.
I'm going to do a Nuzlocke challenge in Emerald. About time I'm doing this... I always thought it was too hard for me but I'm going to do it now :)
Below are the rules I'll follow.
(optional)
I might make comics if I have extra time on my hands.
Caught Lotad (Rainy), evolved into Lombre
Mudkip (Nigel) evolved into Marshtomp
Beat 1st Gym
Caught Poochyena (BlackHyena), but boxed after because it was frail and weak.
Meh, I've completed White once. I'll do the Nuzlocke challenge on that one, if you wouldn't mind. I'll be following rules 1, 3, 4, 5 (Except for Zekrom- there, I stand resolute, plus you have to), 6, 7, and 8- Although my comics will be more on the line of a fiction narrative- I have no idea how to upload pictures. The first installment will be up... At some point.
Beat May in Rustboro City
Caught Makuhita (Sumoman) in Granite Cave
Beat Brawly, but Sumoman fainted in the process :(
Caught Electrike (Wildy)
Grinded a bit on Cycling Road and Route 110. Now about to take on the 3rd Gym.
i think i've tried this several times already but never managed to finish... i'll try again.
Version: Yellow
Rules: 1, 3, 4 & 5
i can't make comics to save my life xD but i'll try to type a short and sweet story with every update. thankyouverymuch.
just one thing... when i move through route 1 before i get pokéballs, does that mean that the pokémon i encounter there are the first pokémon and the only pokémon i would have been able to catch there? like, can i go back later and catch a pokémon on route 1? i think i can.

I think the rule only applies after you get your first pokeballs.
Anyways here's my progress
Defeated Wattson with ease (Thanks to Nigel's Water/Ground typing)
Caught Replacement sumoman (Makuhita), Machop, and named it Muscle (I know... so creative)
Wildy evolved!
Encountered skarmory at route 113... but had no pokeballs left :(
Finished the meteorite quest, and now at Lavaridge Town.
What is your name? Uh... it's Boy. What is your rival's name? Hmm… it's Girl :D fits him right.
Boy gets his first Pokémon, since Girl snatched the Eevee from right under his nose… and it's the Pikachu that Oak caught earlier. Boy is naming it Abraham! The very first of his Pokémon.
Abraham thundershocks Girl's Eevee into oblivion, but somehow it apparently survives. Sneaky. Anyways, Abraham the Pikachu grows to level 6 and learns Tail Whip.
We move north and kill some stuff on route 1 before hitting Viridian City and getting the parcel from the store. We fry some more Pidgeys on our way back to Pallet and get the pokédex from Oak.
Then we kill some more things back to Viridian and Abraham grows to level 7 :3 And now we can FINALLY buy pokéballs. So we do. And of course, antidotes.
Boy goes back to route 1… and encounters a Rattata! Named it Brew. We go out onto route 22 and find a Mankey. Bingo! We call it Cowbell. What a team already, two rats and a pigmonkey. Did some training, during which Brew grew to level 6 and… Cowbell died. Boy wasn't paying enough attention… stupid stupid Boy :,(
Down to two rats now. And all hope of defeating Brock gone.. unless we can find a Caterpie in the forest. On route 3 or something, we found Dino the Pidgey. Aaand entering Viridian Forest, we did indeed meet Esekiel the Caterpie! We went back and trained until Esekiel evolved into a boring Metapod. Inside the forest, Esekiel grew to level 10 and evolved into a bbbbeeautiful Butterfree :D Abraham grew to level 10 and Brew grew to level 7. Aaaand I actually didn't care much about Dino. Even if having a bird called Dino is pretty awesome.
When we reached Pewter City and the gym, Esekiel single handedly took on the trainer inside and grew to level 11. Then she (Esekiel is a she now) took on Brock and won that too. And grew to level 12. Marvelous!
As Boy walked out from the gym, he thought about Cowbell… he did win against Brock even without the pigmonkey's help. Never give up hope! Cowbell was with him.
Back on route 3, Boy did some training so that Brew could also join the club of level 10+. On the route east of Pewter, Brew fought some trainers and grew to level 11. Then Abraham stepped in to show who the strongest mouse was. He grew to level 11 and learned quick attack.
today was greeted by prof. oak. It was strange enough he forgot his own grandsons name. Being arrogant i kleft the town in spite for adventure...at least i tried anyway. that old man stoped me and hear comes a wild pikachu. The man had skills. He captured it like it was a magikarp. Anyway, he brought me to his lab and my rival "jack" was there. *sigh* such a rude child. Not only did he steal my soon to be evee but he also stole my dignity. So porf oak gave me my first pokemon. i named it "Maus". i challenged jack to a pokemon battle and paralyzed is evee with thundershock. =D he was so mad. I taught that spoiled brat a lesson. He left the lab in disgust. This day has been AWSOME!!!! We ventured into route 1 killing pokemon as we pleased. Maus finally reached level 10 and we arriveed in viridian city. Maus was healed and the first stop....POKEMART. The Proffessor must have alzheimers. forgetting both jacks name and his package. I guess i better return it. I finally gave it to him and now Jack wants to show up being douchey. Is he stalking me? o.o Ill keep my suspicions to myself for now. Anyway ive got a pokedex and my adventure is a GO GO GO!!!!
I've gone through a lot between 4th gym and now... about to go into the magma hideout.
run-down of what happened
Spoiler:
-Beat Flannery easily with Nigel (Marshtomp).
-Muscle evolved into Machoke, then I spent quite a time trying to get trades to work, then evolved it into Machamp.
-Beat Norman with Machoke fairly easily... preparation helps :)
-Met tropius at Rt. 119. Was quite surprised because Tropius was quite rare. I got it down to about 60% HP, then Crit killed it... no HM slave :(
-Wildy (Manectric) fried 3 of Winona's pokemon, and Rainy finished off the rest.
-Caught Oddish in route 120 and named it Flowerweed... It died the next battle (Lost pictures for these)
-Nigel evolved into Swampert!
-Caught Vulpix at Mt. Pyre. Named it firefox :)
-At this point I needed a pokemon that knows Fly. So I went back to Route 115, then encountered a Taillow, then which I caught, and named it "Bird." (I'm so creative, eh?)
-Did some grinding. Bird (Taillow) evolved in the process.
-Saved at Mt. Chimney
