The Official Shiny Thread

I can't work out how to do the PokéRadar thing properly.. You know, to get shinies?
But! I've been very lucky in my game and encountered three without it.
I've got:
Girafarig
Shinx (now a Luxio)
Ponyta

I was chaining for a shiny budew a week or two ago, and the chain broke after about 20 pokemon, but the pokemon that broke it turned out to be a shiny bidoof. That's the only shiny I've ever randomly encountered. The rest of mine I've gotten by chaining.
 
mmm I'm currently EV training my Riolu and a Shiny Starly appeared like 10 mins ago ^^ i caught it, it's naughty natured and Lv 4 ^^Me so happy, the last time i caught i shiny it was like 3 years ago when i was fishing for a staryu !
 
Well a few years ago in pokemon Firered, i was fishing in the safari zone for a dratini, and a shiny one appeared, and i caught it, but a few days after started a new game not knowing how rare it was :(. But now i have like 50 something shinies from luck, except the shiny hacked darkrai from my cuz

I was playing platinum and found a shiny abra. I had 1 ultra ball i got from the lotto, and i used it, but it failed and the abra teleported away. I was really disappointed as it would be my second shiny ever, and the first one in the 4th gen.
 
Hey I got a Lv100 Shiny Magikarp!
The others I have are a shiny:
Blastoise
Gliscor
Gengar
Crobat
PorygonZ
and thats all...

Are you sure its not just a west sea or east sea shellos?

My first ever shiny in pokemon platinum!
I started a new game yesterday. I played it today. So I'm in Eterna forest with Cheryl. I had just came in the forest. I ran into a shiny hoothoot. I was glad. I had gotten scared that I wasn't going to capture it. But I ended up getting it. It was a really tough capture to tell you the truth.

I forgot to say that my first shiny was a pidgey in pokemon crystal. I had also ran into a shiny tentacool twice in pokemon sapphire.

Today I traded a Murkrow to someone in Japan, and in return, they sent me a shiny Gliscor! I asked for Gliscor, mostly for a Physical Wall, but I never expected to get a shiny out of the deal! Its a Lax nature, so I doubt it is hacked. Its level 11, the place where Gligar is found matches up, and the stats seem to be about right.
 
I chained a Shiny Starly a while ago.
First chained shiny :D
 
Somehow, the very first wild Magmar I encountered in Platinum was a shiny one. Still don't know how that happened. O.o
It also marks my first legit shiny since the red Gyarados in G/S/C. :3

Some shiny colors are awesome like raquaza's black and yellow color and some of them suck and don't have much of a difference as far as color contrast.
