What's the best way catching shinies?

Honestly, the best way is using the poke radar. I've collected over 100 shinies in my time. Once you get the hang of it and get into a routine, keep patient, you'll find that it is the best way. You can also shiny hatch but it could take days to get a shiny of non stop hatching. Random encounters are fun but they happen rarely. The best way to get an honest shiny is honest work! Or of course you could just trade with people on PC as there are many manyshinies available, just keep an eye out for hacked ones.

Ah I just gotta share my story. So I have been playing the games since gold came out. I had not caught a shiny pokemon until I got diamond and then, I caught two!

My first was a shiny starly but I accidentally traded it on the gts thinking It would only be trade-able for another shiny. My second was a few days ago. I had tried the radar shiny hunting a day before with no success and had given up. Just randomly going through some grass I caught a shiny ponyta!

Both of these I go just walking in the grass, no hunting, no repels, no cheating, no hacking, just random. I was so happy :)

So I started my chaining debut yesterday.
I was getting chains of around 15-20 regularly.
I got to a chain of 30 zigzagoon's but then made a really stupid mistake.
But I continued, my next chain got to 40 and that's when I saw my first shiny patch. My first ever shiny, a naughty zigzagoon.
woo hoo!

I only have one shiny pokemon, my krabby which is now kinglers in my leaf green, I caught it randomly while fishing.

just secured a shiny houndour and another shiny cubone today :D

Just got a shiny Rhyhorn :D My FIRST shiny in my Platinum

Yay for RNG abusing! Shiny Ralts ^_^

Omg random shiny?!
I was just about to chain larvitar, when this shiny kricketot bumped into me, I was like wth?

Its the first random shiny I've ever caught.

I can't seem to get the hang of using the PokeRadar. I turn it on, go into the shaking patch, then when I defeat it, I go into the next patch that is shaking and it's a completely different pokemon! i need help!

On a lighter note, I encountered a Ditto on Pearl and takes out 3 of my lvl 50 pokemon. I had him in the red but he kept on escaping from my Ultra balls.

My chaining has Produces about 5. Ill try and name them..

Happiny
Larvitar
Elekid
Geodude
Miltank :)

Uh...Soft Resetting is boring. I'm Soft Resetting for a shiny Charmander(FireRed) and Treecko(Emerald). Is it true that, in Emerald, IDs starting with a 3 has better luck? Many YouTubers have told me this, but so far no luck. BTW, my ID is 33953 in Emerald.

I've only encoutered one Shiny, a random Wooper while running around in the Great Marsh in Diamond. I haven't gotten anything yet in Platinum, FireRed, or Emerald.

A while ago I caught a shiny Zubat. Not the best random encounter I could ask for, but still acceptable. Now, she's a happy Crobat. ^_^

By the way, is there a general method for searching for shinies on water, in caves, etc places like that?

In water, caves, and areas such as these that do not carry visible square tiles like grass there is no way to search for a Shiny Pokémon other than the natural shiny encounter rate. Within grass areas you can of course use the Pokéradar. Other than that however, that's the only way you can get a shiny pokémon easily [besides hacking for one].

What about the Masuda method? Or whatever it's called? Just trade with someone internationally, and make an egg. Although the odds are still pretty slim (1/2048), they're much better than the natural rate (1/8196).

Don't ask me how I memorized that.

LG - Random encounter Shiny Raticate on cinnabar island
D - Random encounter Roselia Route 209

Isn't it SPACIAL pokemon not Spatial?? (PALKIA)

Only shinies I have are those I traded for or saved. (Shiny Meta and Lucario are smexy) Pokeradar is to darn complicated and I've never encountered one randomnly.
