Welcome to a little experiment I'm conducting. *insert lightning crashes and maniacal laughter here*
The Introduction
lolwut?
So, basically, it's not really anything new that some of us complain that we never get reviews. Likewise, it's not really anything new that those of us who don't complain read the complaints and then realize that our thread is unloved. And then, there are those of us who are really decent writers (or so we'd like to think) but get no attention whatsoever because our fic is passed over for the same-old-with-bad-grammar that everyone likes to spork, and we complain about that too.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have heard your complaints, and I present you a solution. One that is, admittedly, not entirely my own creation but still tweaked to see what happens on a forum. (And yes. She did give me her blessing.)
It is, put simply, the Trading Center.
How It Works
TL;DR, how do i got reviews?
Okay, so you've posted your fanfiction, and you've already advertised it. But, of course, you're worried you'll never get any feedback, so what to you do? You come over to this little box and submit a post using the form I'll put down at the bottom of this post to make sure you read this crap before jumping the gun. Someone will come along and review it in exchange for a review to their work.
Sounds simple, right?
Okay, so let's make it a bit more complicated.
The first person to post in this thread gets a freebie. He or she doesn't have to review to get on the list of fics at the front of this thread.
After that, things start getting complicated.
1. Second person who wants to use the system has to review the first person. As in, they have to actually go and read and review the first fanfiction before he or she can even apply. How much does the second person have to read and review? Read the rules, kids. It's all there.
2. Third person to come along has to review the first and second person.
3. Fourth person to come along has to review the first, second, and third person.
4. Fifth person to come along has to review the first, second, third, and fourth person.
5. When we've got five stories on the list, everyone after that has to review a total of five fics in either category in order to apply for a place on the list.
That way, so long as you're on the list, you end up getting reviewed in a fair exchange. This is the system we'll be using if we happen to drop below the five-story count. Likewise, if you don't want to submit a story, you're of course more than welcome to review; this also serves as a directory for people who really want reviews.
And yes, despite there being technically two lists of fic, the review count is total. As in, review a total of five fics from any of the lists below, regardless of what forum you're posting your fic in.
Sounds cool, right?
The Rules
This is serious business.
As usual, there's a few added rules to this system besides the obvious review-five-to-get-in one I've been beating into your head with a brick so far:
1. If you wish to add another story, you must review five more fics. No, your earlier reviews don't count for any new submission.
1a. Exception #1: If there aren't enough fics, review the ones you haven't already taken care of.
1b. Exception #2: Revisions and new chapters to fics already on the list don't count towards this rule. You're free to get me to change the link so long as it's pretty much the same story. I'll do that for you without you having to review fics in order to get it. (You could if you wanted to, of course.)
1c. Exception #3: If you review the same story but a different chapter or chapters, that works too. However, the chapters must be after the one you reviewed.
2. Keep your story active. Stories that haven't been updated in more than a month will be taken off the list due to the forum rule that states no one except the author (when posting a new installment) may post in a dead thread. That means in order to get your story back in the list, you have to review five more stories that you haven't already touched.
2a. For this reason, fic threads that haven't been touched in a month will not be accepted.
3. Reviews must be specific, and they must be a paragraph (four lines) or more in length. Sorry, but no shorties because that's not fair to the author of the fic or the other people who want to get on this list. See Reviewing and You to learn how to submit a proper review. Nothing else will be accepted.
4. This is a fair trade. Reviews to one-page installments won't be accepted for requests to review massive works. As in, if you're going to ask that we read over your forty-chapter epic, please don't just read and review five one-shots that come to a total of twelve pages of content. That's not cool, and I will be tempted to blacklist you. Instead, if your work is under thirty pages long, read and review an equal number of pages to the amount you're requesting us to look at. (As in, if your work is ten pages long, for example, read and review at least ten pages.) If your work is over thirty pages, try to read and review at least twenty. (You're certainly free to read longer works.) This means you need to read five works that are at least four to six pages long each. It's not that intimidating, guys.
4a. Obvious exception: If all of the works currently listed have fewer pages than the above requirements in total, just read and review as much as you can.
5. Do not use this thread to whine that you're not getting reviews.
6. Do not flame reviewers through this thread. You will be blacklisted.
7. Do not flame reviewers in your story thread, particularly if they come through this thread. You will also be blacklisted for that.
8. All other general PC rules and fanfiction forum rules apply.
9. Why, yes, we do also accept fics from Other Writing and its poetry subforum.
10. I have the right to not accept any fic from an author who has not read this post thoroughly. Ergo, please read the sign-up sheet, the rules, et cetera carefully.
Incidentally, by "blacklist," I mean "put on a list of fics I conveniently constantly forget to add to the list." Point is, don't break the rules, or no review exchange for you.
The List and How To Read It
The series of tubes.
Stories in the list are arranged by type. Pokémon fics are in the first list, and fics in Other Writing are in the second. After that, they're arranged chronologically by when they applied to the list, with the oldest ones at the top.
If you're confused, just look down, and you'll figure it out.
On top of that, fics with a bold, italicized exclamation point (!) have been updated in the past week, so they're up for being reviewed again by anyone who's already gone through them.
Okay, yeah, all that BS over and done with, the list as of current.
Pokémon
