This is being done to help me try and get back into 9 Lives. I really want to finish it but I am struggling with getting back into the story. Hopefully writing this about my favorite villain in it will help me get my 9 Lives mo-jo back.

Spoiler:
1.
Name: Mercury (mer-CURE-ree)
Age: 3 years (starting age)
Gender: male
Appearance: A black backed Cyndaquil (evolution will occur in the story) with a darker tan coat. His fire is also of a darker color than normal, throwing him into the path of the Father (high priest) as an unnatural demon.
Personality: Extremely rebellious and questioning of everything. As the story progresses, his personality will begin to take a turn towards the one seen in the 9 Lives story.
First Appears: Chapter I - Birth (infant in this chapter)
2.
Name: Volcanous (vol-CAN-nus)
Age: 31 years (starting age)
Gender: male
Appearance: Average Typhlosion but a tad more frail looking than most. That doesn't mean he's weaker, just his build is slightly thinner than the normal build of a Typhlosion. When he reads he wears a pair of frameless glasses.
Personality: Calm and understanding, he is dedicated strongly to family and friends. Though there can be times when he'll want nothing to do with them, he never lets that emotion take him over. Creator wise, he's not as religious or following of him as others. He tends to keep an open mind to how the creators acted and does his best to stray from the prideful and blind to reality stereotypes of the fire type.
First Appears: Chapter I - Birth
3.
Name: Father Othereo (oh-THEAR-reo)
Age: 43 years (starting age)
Gender: male
Appearance: A regular Typhlosion. He wears around his neck sacred cloth passed down from priest to priest. It's said that the cloth itself was once apart of a larger piece worn by the Pyriss himself. Same goes for the sash around his waste. The two are white with orange tints and symbols on them. The symbol is a vertical line with two circles at the top (the top most smaller than the second under it) and an arch at the bottom of the line. The meaning of the symbol is unknown, however it has been seen in depictions of what Pyriss look like.
Personality: A very strong follower of Pyriss. He's like your overly religious christian. When first seen he is very overpowering, coming off as incredibly intellectual and heavily connected to something great. He carries with him a type of dignity that can be seen in they way he walks, and he never takes no for an answer. He'll do everything to try and push his beliefs on others to create a unified understanding of the world, and will never turn against what he says. On top of that he's very stubborn and can even be vindictive at times. He'll go to any lengths to protect his race, literally.
First Appears: Chapter I - Birth
4.
Name: Celia
Age: 30 years (starting age)
Gender: female
Appearance: a normal Typhlosion. She stands just a few inches shorter of the average height and has copper colored eyes.
Personality: Extremely sweet and very understanding. She's pretty much a pacifist, not liking the idea of fighting. There have been times where she's questioned how children play because she's worried that they may get hurt. She loves to help out others and tries her best to get them through personal situations (if she's allowed to that is). Since she's normally not one to assert herself, it's very easy to push her around. She's even a bit naive (due to her overly caring nature) and has been a victim of usage (where others have used her good nature to their benefits).
First Appears: chapter III - Thoughts of a Father (a.k.a Temptations and Consequence)
Charizard
1.Name: Davido (dah-VEE-doh)
Age: 34 years (starting age)
Gender: male
Appearance: A Carizard that's missing the left horn on his head. There is also a long scar stretching across his left side to the middle of his back, just below his wing. This scar was caused by a Scyther seven years ago during a tournament in Battle City.
Personality: Honorable and loyal. Though Davido will question authority at times, he is never one to outwardly disobey it. If a higher power tells him to do something, he'll do it despite any skeptical outlooks on what's been ordered. He's also a very different fighter from most Charizard, using cunning and wits to succeed in battle rather than power and intimidation.
First Appears: chapter III - Thoughts of a Father (a.k.a Temptations and Consequence)
My Fire Type
I based the Fire Type off of early Christianity. A time when the people were so proud of themselves, they thought themselves closer to god. It is also why the priests in this story have such a high command over everyone and why they follow them so aimlessly.

Wheel Flame State
Information
Wheel Flame State
Information
Description
A large city that from above is shaped like a circle. It was built this way to represent the Flame Wheel attack that it's founder, Bainsly Wookcrow, a Typhlosion, could use. In the exact center of the state stands a tall tower that stretches over twenty feet into the sky. This is the Tower of Pyriss.
The buildings here are made out of brimstone and have only one floor. This is done because the majority of fire type Pokemon are either on four legs or have wings, making second level access very difficult. The only building that has multiple levels is the Tower of Pyriss.
Homes and schools are situated closer to the center of the state while office buildings and stores sit near the outside. It was done this way so families aren't at risk of being attacked by outsiders, making this state the safest in all of Eucser for children to grow up in.
The Tower of Pyriss
Stands over twenty feet tall. At its tip are two golden spheres, the top most sphere smaller than the one beneath it. At its bottom are two curved unconnected arches. They are decorative only. When looking at it from a distance, the building resembles the famed symbol of Pyriss.
Districts
The state is split into three separate districts; Pure, Duel, and Secondary. The Pure district takes up more space than the other two because it's member count is much higher. The Duel district and Secondary district share an equal amount of space. Being a very proud type, there tends to be more judgment and discrimination within it than in any other type (which was the cause of these districts having to be made).
Those who are only fire tend to see themselves as the true purists of the type. Extremists of this belief in placement will often remark as to how their flames are untainted by a duel-type. In fact, they are so proud of their purity that if any of their evolutions were duel-typed, they'd make sure to always be wearing an Everstone. Thankfully though the extremist number is low, consisting of only 20 - 30% of the pure fire types.
Members of the duel-type (or half type as others call it) tend to be more accepting of difference. Though still proud in their own rights, they do not often discriminate against Secondary District types as the Pure District would. They are more open to relationships with them and to seeing some of them taking shelter in their part of the state. However they are not without fault. They trust in their duel types and seek power over the Pure, claiming it is their right to be seen as the stronger for the second type gives them an advantage. Though that may not always be the case, it is what they believe.
The Secondary District is small and meager compared to the others. With so little members in it, the Secondary District has less righteous self pride and more defensive protection. They make themselves stronger and act more powerful for protection. They are looked down upon the most by the Pure Types and despite being proud of their type, will do everything to fight whomever challenges their authority.

Mercury 101
Everything he did back in the first version of
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Team 9 Lives to the Rescue!
Just so you all can see why he's one of Eucser's most wanted criminals... C8< and why he's uh-freaking-MAZING!!!!
In the first version of 9 Lives Mercury hadn't become an ultra consistent character. He was first introduced in chapter 34 ~Team Mayonaka Tsume Reports: One Down~, through a mission report Ko-gasu was giving to Harry. In that report it was told that he murdered (with the Grass Orb) and ate one of Ko-gasu's team members (a Kingler named Hasamu) right in front of their eyes. It was then revealed in that same chapter that Mercury was also responsible for murdering literally everyone within the Wheel Flame State (I'd also put that he ate everyone but... that's highly illogical so yeah, that fact is now null and void. xD)
A reason for this mass murder was never given. Only an assumption by Ko-gasu.
What Ko-gasu said
"A rare colored Typhlosian. The only one of his kind colored like that. His front was tan like a normal Typhlosian's was… but his back was black. He was always shunned for being so different which is probably why he did what he did to the Wheelflame state. You see… Mercury, that's his name, had attacked the Wheelflame state four months ago. And Harry," Ko-Gasu paused with what he was saying. This was the part everyone could tell wasn't going to be good. "Everyone in it is gone."
Then came his next act of villainy. In chapter 36 ~The Chorbeeka Disappearance~, a letter arrived at the Rescue Force from Sirus, the mayor of Chorbeeka Town. His kids, Jackal and Star, had been missing for quite some time (a full twenty-four hours) and no one knew where they were. Harry sent Ryu (a Salamence and apart Rescue Force staff - not a team member) along with Team Verzer to handle this mission.
Unknown to them, located in Boulden Valley were the two Umbreon, Jackal and Star. Mercury and his accomplice Perio (a Rhyperior - this is his introduction into the story) had them chained to the ground. Mercury had Perio break and rip off more than one of Jackal's legs because he was hungry, and had him heal the wounds so Jackal wouldn't die (he liked his food fresh). Mercury had also hired Frost (a Sceptile) and Sumi (a Sneasle) to capture a member of the force. They returned with Ryu (all of Team Verzer died fighting them).
In chapter 38 ~Force and Gain~, Mercury pretty much tortured Ryu, tearing off one of his wings and having Perio smash in the head of Star (whom Ryu saw as family). This was all to try and get the location of the Dragon Orb of elemental creation.
His last act was in chapter 41 ~Rising and Falling~. Team Wingsky, a Rescue Force team that had been kicked off the force, were flying through the desert in search of a crystal when they came upon Ryu alone in a cave. Mercury had done more damage to the dragon, breaking off every horn on his head and tearing out a thick chunk of flesh from one of his back legs. Mercury then came back and had Perio throw Jackal to him. He finally kills the Umbreon and when still refused the orbs location by Ryu, proceeds to threaten him with Wingsky.
Sadly the first version kinda ended on a giant WTF moment that will happily be resolved in the newer version (you know... once I get back into it, XDD). To get the information out of Ryu, figuring that he still wouldn't speak even if Wingsky was murdered, he deployed his secret weapon onto them. What was that weapon? Well... since you can always just go back and freaking read the chapter I guess I can say it. Not like it'd be much a spoiler.
The weapon was Groudon himself. Yes. Mercury is so epic that he captured Groudon and was now going to use the mighty legendary to get the info from Ryu. And there you have it. Everything Mercury ever did in the first version of 9 Lives.
=P From what you know in the rewrite I'm doing now, his introduction was hella different. Drastically toned down, Mercury is introduced in a cave and at the mercy of Redblood. Dang... you'd think with all the stuff he did in the first version that I'd at least give him some dignity? =3
It was also revealed in the rewrite that he was the reason for Pinpoint's (a Nidoking) current appearance. He attacked the Nidoking with his signature Black Flamethrower, burning the Pokemon's entire right side (to this day it's still black from charring, and this was years ago in the Nidoking's life) while also ripping out one of his eyes.
He is currently on the hunt for a shiny so he can get Perio back (who is now in a psychic coma induced by Redblood herself). So there you have it. Everything he's done.

Chapter 1
Birth
Location: Wheel Flame State
Pregnant with her first child, Sapphira the Typhlosion, alongside her mate Volcanous, awaited the joy of bringing life into this world. When the day came and Sapphira went into labor, the only thing they hoped for was the moment to end. The labor was unbearable even when Sapphira was put into a hypnotic amnesia to reduce the pain. Volcanous stayed by her side through the whole ordeal as Father Othereo, another Typhlosion (a high ranking priest), and a few others watched in wonder.
It lasted for hours.
Sapphira's screams echoed throughout their home until finally, the baby was born. Born on March 23rd, 3,518 at 3:33 a.m, the expecting family was blessed with a healthy baby boy. The only problem... he was of the truest unnatural color. Unlike most shiny Cyndaquil, Quilava, or Typhlosion who had a salmon pink backside, this baby's backside was a smoky black while the rest of him was a darker tan. When his fire was tested by the doctor to see if it was healthy, all were shocked when the infants flame was of darker color.
Father Othereo stared at this infant as he was placed into his weakened mothers arms. She'd been drained completely of her strength from the birthing process and needed Volcanus to help support the child in her arms. Smiling, she named the boy Mercury, after her father Memphis who'd died the previous year due to *OverRus. She handed her son to Volcanous who fondly cradled the child in his arms. No longer able to keep her eyes open, Sapphira closed them and fell into a deep sleep. Volcanous gently placed Mercury into the lava rock crib next to his mate and covered him with a *flame blanket. He then turned and escorted everyone out. They all gave their congratulations (though the ones from the priests seemed fairly reluctant) as they headed out.
The only one to not give his congrats was the head priest, Father Othereo. What he gave instead was a word of caution. The boy was so far was unnatural and therefore a threat. His word was taken seriously by Volcanous as he left, and it never once left his thoughts. Two days passed by and the doctor returned to check up on the infant and mother. He never expected what was to await him upon entering the household.
Volcanous was sitting in a corner near the door with bloodshot eyes. He head was elevated so his gaze was locked on the ceiling. Individual smoke rings were being blown out in equal intervals. The doctor tried to talk to him to find out what was wrong, but all Volcanous could say was, "I tried to stop her. I tried to stop her." He repeated these words over and over in a stiff and quiet voice. Worry now pressed into his chest, the doctor ran to the back bedroom where the mother and child were. What he saw threw him for a loop.
Blood was splattered all over the walls and ceiling. The curtains over the window were ripped and pulled from the bar that held them up while the chair in the corner was charred black. Scratches traveled the walls of the room in a way that looked like claws had been jammed into it and dragged. On the bed however was the site that made him throw up inside his mouth. Laying on her back was Sapphira, wide eyed and stiffer than stone. Her claws were locked in a way that looked like she'd been holding a ball in each one while her mouth lay open from what seemed like screaming. Her body was covered in blood including her own claws. The source of the blood... an open wound in her throat and stomach looking to be caused from relentless ripping of the skin.
The doctor knew from just looking at her that she was dead.
He then ran to the lava rock crib to see about the baby. He was shocked even further when discovering the child in perfect condition. Not a single scratch or drop of blood was on him. A further check up on the child said the same thing. There was no sign or trauma or injury on him, no scent or fear and no health issues. The doctor went back to Volcanous to ask him again as to what had happened. Had someone broken in? Were they attacked? What? Finally the father explained, though his words were hard to understand from how shaky his voice was.
"She exploded. Don't know how else to explain it. She slept... she woke... she ate... slept again... then the screams."
"Screams?" the doctor asked. He'd knelt down to try and put himself at eye-level with the father.
"Night terrors. Can't wake up when night terrors come. Jumped out of bed, ran around room... screaming of power. She scratched the walls, tore the curtains, burned the chair, and then... then she attacked herself." The doctor heard his voice now filling with sadness as his eyes became shiny. "Tried to stop her... I tried... couldn't. She clawed her stomach open and then ripped at her throat. Couldn't stop her... couldn't stop her... couldn't stop her..." Volcanous was again repeating his words.
Without any more explanation the doctor ran from the house to get the priests and medics. They returned not even a half-an-hour later with a stretcher, three other medics (including the doctor the went to get them) and five priests with Father Othereo at the head of the whole group. When they got back to the house the medics did what they were there for. They placed Sapphira onto the stretched, covered her with a blanket, and then took her away. Three priests stood outside the house and spoke prayers to it to cleanse it over the ordeal that happened while the fourth and Father Othereo went inside. Father Othereo headed to the child while the fourth helped Volcanous. Enraged, Father Othereo picked Mercury up and took him out of the building.
"W-wait Father... what.. what are you doing to m-my son?!" asked Volcanous as the fourth priest used himself as a leverage to help hold the weakened father up.
"I told you to watch for this boy! He is unnatural! He placed a curse upon your wife and used it to force her to commit suicide! He must be slain at once!" bellowed Father Othereo. Volcanous, though respectful of the priest, pushed away from whom he leaned on and ran out of his house. He fell to his hands upon reaching the holy Typhlosion, his exhaustion from last night still claiming him. He reached up, knowing well to not touch the sacred cloth that the Father wore around his neck and sides.
"No! No it was not him. Sapphira's dad had OverRus a year ago that virus... that virus is contagious! Symptoms... her symptoms... they were like his! My son did nothing! Please!" pleaded the dad. Father Othereo looked to him and squinted in pity as the child in his hands began to cry and wail. "PLEASE!" repeated Volcanous.
"It is true that OverRus can be both genetic, contagious, and spontaneous Father," added the doctor. Father Othereo looked at the baby as he cried out and squirmed around. He stared at it for what seemed like hours before coming to his final decision.
"Virus or not, this child is unnatural and still a threat! He may stay with you but it will be required that upon three years of age that he be taught by me through all his schooling years. He will be moved to a location away from all other children and taught the ways passed down to us by *Pyriss! Until that day comes, you, Volcanous, will not be permitted to leave this State. You will be checked up on weekly by myself and the other priests. Is that understood?" asked the Father as he looked at Volcanous, Mercury still in his arms crying and kicking. Volcanous stared a broken stare as he felt the chains of his sentence being shackled around his ankles. He agreed to what was said though, knowing well and good that he couldn't fight the word of the head priest.
He weakly took his son as he was handed back. He then watched as the priests finished their prayers on his house and gathered back together around the dead body of his wife. With Father Othereo at the head, they walked away with Sapphira to take her to where she could be properly cleansed before placing her in her casket to be buried. Volcanous knew he'd be called when the ceremony of her burial was to be held. Until then, he was left where he was, on his knees with his baby in hand.
Terms
*Flame Blanket: a heated blanket that always stays warm. It's mainly used to help newborns and infants keep warm at night because unlike children and adults, their flames aren't able to fully circulate a warm enough temperature to sustain them. This blanket is also just good to sleep with on cold days.
*OverRus: a virus similar to PokeRus. The difference however is with OverRus, too much power is given to whomever has it. This causes the Pokemon to loose control of itself. There is a high risk of serious injury or death to whomever has it as well as to those near the infected Pokemon.
*Pyriss: one of the 17 Original Creators. He is the creator of fire.
