[PKMN OPEN] The Pokémon Trainer Academy (T) [Best Veteran 4Q '11]

Holly Amarosa

Holly whimpered as the boy gripped onto her tightly, growling softly. "...Fine," he said, letting go of Holly. He glared down at her and Blaze. "But this isn't over, you hear me? Sooner or later, you'll run out of people to protect you." He took out Blaze's Pokeball and threw it on the ground. Holly frowned as he stomped on it. "And when that happens, I'll get both of you. Holly and that worthless Growlithe," he huffed.

Holly stared after him as he left and felt tears forming in her eyes. What's wrong with that guy? He's crazy... she thought. She looked down at Blaze and petted him, crying. The Growlithe whimpered and licked Holly's face.

"We're safe now," she murmured, sniffling. Molly frowned and floated down to her. Holly smiled slightly at her. "I'm fine, Molly... I just need a minute..."

Kayla Makihatayama

Kayla huffed as she sat down on a bench near the dorms. "Where is she?" she asked, sighing. "I've looked all over for her. Yuri, can you find anything?" The Lillipup shook her head and laid down at Kayla's feet. Kayla groaned and looked down at her Xtransciever. "I should call Amy about this... Holly can't keep ignoring me like this..." As she said this, her Xtransciever started to ring. Kayla gasped and answered it, smiling when she saw Amy.

"At least someone's answering," Amy said, biting her nails. "Have you seen Holly at all?"

Kayla shook her head. "She ran out of class... I'm really worried about her, Amy. She wouldn't even talk to me, and I can't find her anywhere..."

Amy frowned. "I'm going back there," she said as she turned away from the camera. "Chase, pack your bags! We're checking on Holly!" Kayla heard an audible groan and frowned.

"No, Amy! I don't think that's the best idea," she muttered. "I have to deal with this. I'm the reason that she's like this."

"We're coming, Kayla. That's that. I hope your father lets us borrow his Pokemon again... We have to get going now. Bye!" Amy said as she hung up. Kayla groaned and buried her face in her hands.

"How did this happen?" she asked.

Dalex Yukashi - Dorms

Dalex walked into the dorm area. Treecko, as always, was right at his feet walking.

"Treecko, why do you always seem to stay out of your pokeball?" Dalex asked.

'Treecko Treecko.'

"So you just like being out in the sun with me?"

'Treecko.' The green wild gecko nodded as he put a twig in his mouth.

"Why do you have a twig? Only one other Treecko I know of does that, well it is a Sceptile now."

'Treecko Tree?' The pokemon looked in question.

"I guess you don't know him. I have heard of him. His name is Ash. He use to be Gary's rival. He is a very strong trainer. I have learned about him from TV every now and then. I remember my father telling me about him as well. I hope to some day meet him and battle him, but I know right now I am completely out classed." Dalex explained to Treecko as they continued to walk.

'Treecko Treecko Tree Treecko.' The Treecko shrugged.

"Ah never mind, I guess it doesn't matter." Dalex said.

As Dalex was about to enter his dorm for only the second time, he heard a groan that seemed down or something in that nature. He looked over, there was a girl, maybe a year or two younger than himself, sitting down with her face hidden in her hands.

"How did this happen?" He heard the girl ask herself.

The girl was blond with hair that went just a little down her neck. It also seemed like she had a headband to hold her hair back. She had a little Lillipup laying down at her feet.

He thought about leaving her to her own business, but he didn't like seeing people sad, and he had already avoided one girl and guy today on the road. He figured it was about time to start talking to other people. He walked over to the girl and about ten feet away, he finally said something.

"Hey, everything ok?" Dalex asked the girl on the bench as he adjusted his berry bag and camera to a comfortable position.

Kayla looked up and blinked. She wiped away a few tears that she hadn't even noticed were falling and tried to smile. "I'm... fine," she said softly. She frowned slightly and sighed. "It's just... There's family issues going on. My cousin hates me, and now her pregnant sister wants to get involved and travel all the way here and it's just a huge mess..." She looked down and frowned more. "Sorry... I shouldn't be telling you all of this. It's... It's nothing that you should be worried about."

Yuri frowned as Kayla talked to the boy and kept her guard up. She barked softly and jumped up next to Kayla on the bench. The girl ran a hand through the puppy's fur and smiled before continuing. "So... Why did you decide to talk to me?" she asked, looking up at the boy. "Did I really look that sad? My name's Kayla, by the way..."

Dalex Yukashi -

He listened to the girl, Kayla, as she explained. His face began to heat up with embarrassment, thinking he had offended her.

He watched as the little Lillipup jumped up and barked, watching him, as if ready to attack. He slowly reached into his berry bag and pulled out a red chople berry and slowly placed it next to the Lillipup.

"Don't worry little guy, I mean no harm." Dalex said, as he slowly moved back to his original position.

Dalex then turned his attention to Kayla and smiled.

"No big reason. It just sounded like you were sad by the tone in your voice, and I don't like leaving anyone sad if I can maybe help. My name is Dalex by the way. Pleased to meet you Kayla. Don't worry about the berry, it is a gift to your pokemon to show I mean no harm. It is a berry that protects a pokemon from super effective, fighting type moves." Dalex explained.

Treecko climbed up on Dalex's shoulder, no longer having the twig in his mouth. Dalex figured that Treecko didn't want to be known as a copier.

"This is my friend Treecko. He can be stubborn at times, but he is a great pokemon. I just got here not long ago." Dalex continued.

'Treecko.....' Treecko sighed.

"Oh stop you know you are stubborn at times." Dalex smiled at Treecko.

'Treecko-Tre.' Treecko nodded as if agreeing.

He then turned his attention back to the girl, letting her talk next.

Amber Frost

Amber watched Sammy's seething anger with curious indignation. Honestly, she hadn't even gone that far! She was quite disappointed that Sammy could barely stomach a little warning shot. It hadn't even been directed at her and she was huffing and puffing like a pissed off Mankey. She made a note to subtly work on Sammy's tolerances. Still, she supposed she'd better try to make peace. Although... Sammy was kinda cute when she was angry...

Amber followed Sammy's example and took out the Poffin from the paper bag. She held it out to Valor, who had emerged from his wings at the smell of food. She held out the Poffin to him with a grin. She spoke to him with a "stern" tone, putting specific stresses on her words.

"Okay Val, Sammy bought this Poffin for you, so be nice, and don't cause trouble, alright?" she said. Valor nodded solemnly, preparing to do the exact opposite of what she had said. He lightly gripped the Poffin in his fangs and fluttered down to the ground a few feet from Pancham. He sniffed the Poffin first, then ran his tongue along it, tasting for various poisons and other substances. Once he was content that the Poffin was not contaminated, he sunk his fangs into it, and found it was juicy like a berry inside. He registered Pancham's response while sucking the Poffin dry.

"You're welcome, lout. No need to fear me choking, there's plenty of space in my esophagus. I'd be more concerned about you; it's easy to choke when one's throat is so full of hot air."

Samantha Felicity Cooper - Too Far?

Sammy smiled down at Pancham as he gobbled up the last of his poffin, the diminutive Fighting type belching crudely before he chomped back down on his leaf, leering at Valor. He was definitely rough around the edges, but so long as he was being nice she didn't see the need to try and make him behave with too much decorum. It wasn't like she could talk! Most days she could be as boorish as the sailors she'd grown up around, just because she was making a special effort for the day didn't mean she had to berate Pancham.

"The only thing I might choke on is my vomit at having to look at you and your ugly human. Why don't you be a good bats, grab the poffin bag and put it over her head so we don't have to look at how disgusting she is. She looks like her face has gone through the wrong end of a Muk."

"I think they're getting along better," Sammy commented unwittingly, "Maybe they were both just hungry. I know I'm a nightmare when I don't get my square four meals a day - even Elvis stays out of my way in the mornings until I've had breakfast."

It didn't feel natural calling Crawdaunt by his new name yet, but she figured the best way to get over that would be to keep using it. She still hadn't seen him in action since his evolution - not properly anyway. A brawl against a gang of Cubone and fighting for their lives against Team Rocket. She turned her eyes to Amber. Maybe a battle before the tournament wouldn't be such a bad idea... she needed to test the limits of Elvis' new strength, see how Cubone performed with his Thick Club, try out Ponyta's new strategy, find the effectiveness of her new Onyx in battle...

She suddenly realised how woefully unprepared she actually was for an official competition but quickly jammed that thought and her self doubt back where they came from. There was no time for that, she was going to win, even if the odds were stacked against her. Her only real competition was Mark anyway. With her mind wandering (again) she didn't realise that she was now staring at Amber for rather a long time.

Amber Frost

Amber watched Valor as he finished drinking the juice out of his Poffin and began to take small bites out of the dried fruit-like Poffin. So far it seemed as if the two Pokemon had made up, much to Amber's chargrin. Had there been a miscommunication in the duo's normally solid partnership?

Valor's wings stiffened and his body tensed at Pancham's insults. He tried to calm himself down as he took an abnormally large bite of his Poffin. Getting angry would only prove that Pancham had managed to get under his skin. If Pancham was going to insult his trainer, he better be ready for Valor to respond in kind. Valor swallowed and politely dabbed away any food residue from his mouth with a wing before speaking.

"Say what you may about her beauty; an entire ocean full of paper bags couldn't cover up the pure incompetence of your trainer," he remarked. He warily watched the Fighting-type Pokemon, a constant stream of mostly inaudible noise giving Valor a nearly perfect image of the Pokemon. It was tiring on the tongue, but Valor wouldn't put it past Pancham taking a cheap shot while he was eating.

Amber barely registered Sammy's comment at first; she was preocupied with watching the two Pokemon interact. What appeared to be civil seemed to be rapidly desolving; Valor looked tense and irritated with the other Pokemon. When the comment did register, it seemed strange. Couldn't she feel the hostile air between the two Pokemon? Perhaps she hadn't had Pancham long enough to learn all of his body language yet.

She looked up to find Sammy staring at her. Amber flushed and quickly looked back at the two Pokemon. She took a moment before attempting to meet her gaze. "W-what are you staring at?" she asked with an attempt at her usual bravado and hostility, cursing her voice for failing her. It was rather uncomfortable; Amber was definitely starting to prefer the over-confident, angry Sammy to the lost-in-thought, calm Sammy. She mentally pleaded for Valor to escalate things more quickly; she found a twisted, sadistic joy in the anger of others, and Sammy was certainly no exception.

In fact, Sammy might just be the most fascinating target yet.

Pancham snorted out a laugh, standing up on his short legs and stretching his arms above his head. "I gotta admit, it'd take a certain amount of stupid to think hangin' around with you and your Trainer, but I'm not gonna fault The Coop for that. She probably just feels sorry for your Trainer - anyone would when she raises Pokémon as badly as she does." He waved dismissively at Valor and turned away, scratching his behind. If The Coop didn't want him causing trouble he could be smart about it...

...Pancham tried to learn Parting Shot!

...Pancham is too low a level!

...Pancham did not learn Parting Shot!

Sammy blinked and came back to herself, blushing at the direct question. She hadn't meant to stare! She probably looked like a total creep right now. "I, uh, I was just - you..." She trailed off lamely, looking down at the Pokémon. Even she couldn't miss the fact that things were devolving again - the only problem was she couldn't tell which one of them was at fault. Was Pancham being rude by turning his back, or was he taking the high road and trying to ignore a confrontation? She quietly admitted to herself she was going to need to slow down on capturing any new Pokémon for a while, she had her hands too full as it was. Plus she still had the Egg and the Fossil...

"Right," she said sharply, apparently reaching a decision. "This isn't working. Either your Pokemons a jerk, mines a little **** or both, and after his earlier behaviour I don't think Pancham here is entirely without blame." Pancham looked up at her, his wide eyes and naturally cute features feigning innocence. She just shook her head, not believing him for a second. It wasn't like her to try and play peace maker so much and that was probably why it hadn't worked. There was only one way to get through to her little scrapper it seemed.

"You need to learn to know your enemy, no matter who starts it. Valor there is a Flying type, you're a Fighting type. If you want him to kick your ass so bad, let's go then." She said firmly, looking back to Amber. "I don't know which of them is behind all this, but I think Pancham needs a lesson in type match ups and knowing when to pick his fights. These two are just going to go for each other eventually, so how about we get it out of the way? We challenge you to a Pokémon battle."

Ellie Ward - Outside the school

Ellie walked slowly down the streets of Oak Town, Looking in store window to store window at the various things they had for sale. "Huh, there are a lot more stores here than back at home." She said out loud impressed.

After about fifteen minutes of window shopping she came across a particular store that really peaked her interest. Several different colored poke-balls decorated the display shelves, Shining so brightly that if it Weren't for the tinted glass she would have a small case of flash blindness. Curiosity getting the best of her, Ellie enters the store.

"Welcome! How may I help you?" A Man behind the counter announced as she entered the store. They seemed to be the only ones in the store currently.

"Um, Yeah, I was wondering. Do you Paint Pokeballs here? How long does it take?" She asked the store owner, Getting a confused look in return.

"Paint pokeballs?" He asked "Well, I know another guy nearby if you want a job done but we don't do that here, Sorry."

"But what about all these balls around here. They're all different colors." She asked, Referring specifically to a Blue ball with black bands across the top.

The shop keep was dumbfounded for a moment. He's used to some clueless students coming in to his store but she was obviously an Entei student. She has to be kidding right? "T-That's a Net ball Ma'am. It makes it easier to catch Water and Bug Pokemon." He said in slight disbelief.

Ellie looks at him confused again. "What do you mean by easier? I thought you just threw a Pokeball and you were fine."

This guy has had it now, He's convinced that she's playing a prank on him now. "Look, I can see the color of that jacket, I'm not Color Blind. You can't tell me that you don't know how catching Pokemon works."

Ellie shakes her head. "No I don't, I just got here recently. I used to live in Phenac City in Orre, Where I come from Wild Pokemon are very rare. Almost all Pokemon are already caught." She explains. "My mom and dad didn't even put pokeballs on display, There was no need for them."

The shop keep, still suspicious, decided to play along for now. Her story seemed to be true but he still found it hard to believe that a student wouldn't know something as basic as what poke balls are out there. "Well, Pokemon aren't just caught, You have to tire them out first through battle, that way they won't break the ball as it's capturing them. These balls help with that." He begins to explain. "Some of these balls work better in certain circumstances though, The net ball works best on Water and bug Pokemon for example while the Dusk ball works better on Pokemon that come out at night."

"Well, I'm going to be here for awhile, Do you recommend anything?" Ellie asks.

Over the next hour or so, the Shop keep explains what each ball does, The shop was surprisingly slow, most likely due to the tournament that's coming up soon. Ellie picks out several that sound like they will be useful.

"Um, Sir, I have one more question" Ellie asks.

"Alright, Go ahead."

"Is there anyway to swap a Pokemon's ball?"She asked looking over to the Luxury ball.

"Well, You would have to recapture them, But that should be no problem if your Pokemon likes you. they should happily accept a new ball, Especially if it's that Luxury You're Eying at." He answered her.

Ellie Sighed to herself "Always the hard way huh?" She whispered under her breath as she picked up Seven of them. "I'll take these as well." She said as she added them to the pile before taking out the money her parents left her.

The shop keep looked at her oddly before finally calculating the total cost and completing the transaction. "Why do you need Seven of those?"

"Because I don't Expect Nellie to easily accept being re-caught" She replied.

"Well, Good luck then" He said, Waving her bye, Figuring it was none of his business. Happy that she almost single-handedly turned this from a bad business day into a good one.

"Thanks, I'll need it."

Amber Frost

Valor quickly finished off his Poffin as the uncouth Pokemon turned his back on him, a rather overconfident move for the disadvantaged Fighting-type. He gave himself a small, dignified shake and drew his wings in close to his body as he stretched up to his full height. "Well, at least my trainer raised her Pokemon with some decent manners," he remarked, disgusted at Pancham's crude behavior.

Amber watched as Sammy seemed to come to some sort of decision. She tilted her head slightly as Sammy reasoned out loud, then grinned at her challenge. Inside she was rather nervous; she couldn't remember a time when she'd ever had an official challenge. Most of her battles weren't battles at all; they were mad fights for survival, her Pokemon blurs of teeth, hooves, and wings, doing whatever had to be done to prevail. Still, if she was going to participate in the tournament, she'd have to learn sometime. With a determined nod, she accepted the challenge.

"You're on!" she declared, her confident attitude returning. Valor perked up and turned toward Amber, a bloodthirsty grin slowly spreading across his features. He took flight, landing neatly and elegantly on Amber's shoulder, proudly drawing himself up to his full height. If that little brat wanted a one-sided fight, he'd give him one. No one turns their back on Valor.

Samantha Felicity Cooper

"Alright then," Sammy nodded, "There's an outdoor arena not far from here. Follow me."

She turned and led the way, Pancham trotting on his short legs to keep up. What was The Coop playing at? Didn't she think he could beat the bat? And, y'know, even if she did think that... why wasn't she taking his side anyway!?

"We'll use two Pokemon each, that way after Pancham here learns his lesson we can have a proper battle. You can continue using Valor or swap out straight away, I don't mind. How does that sound?"

She forced herself not to look down at Pancham as she walked. Doing so might make her lose her resolve, it was hard setting your Pokemon up for a deliberate loss... she just had to hope it would help him realise not to go picking fights with every Pokemon out there. If she didn't stop him with a simple Zubat he'd be challenging Rhyperior to headbutting competitions next. She couldn't understand where he got this insanely competitive spirit from, but damnit, she was going to beat Amber in that second round. If she couldn't deal with a new student she wasn't anywhere close to good enough to beat Mark yet.

Amber Frost

Amber nodded and followed Sammy towards the arena, Valor chattering excitedly on her shoulder. He'd been waiting for a real challenge for a long time. Sure, they knew practical fighting, but he had always preferred a more tactical and honorable method of battling to the kinds of fights Amber landed herself in.

Amber wondered about which Pokemon she would use. Valor was an obvious pick, but she wasn't so sure about the second. She supposed it would depend on what other Pokemon Sammy sent out after Pancham. She knew Swindle could use the experience, as he was one of weakest on the team when it came to battling. However, using a less trained could end in a loss, and she definitely didn't want to lose Sammy. She had to prove she could win against these veteran trainers; she'd have no chance in the tournament if she couldn't win one measly battle, skill level difference aside. Spirit was another good choice, as he was her second Pokemon and had been trained much longer than Swindle had. Of course, there was always her newest wildcard...

She followed Sammy to the arena in pensive silence as she thought about how the battle was going to go.

Samantha Felicity Cooper

Sammy led Amber a small distance away from the edge of Oak Town towards a cleared space containing a red clay rectangle not entirely different from some kinds of tennis court. There were white chalk lines drawn on the surface indicating the edges of the make shift arena as well as the Trainer boxes at either end. It wasn't the most impressive battle arena the island had to offer but it was the closest one to Oak Town, so it would have to do.

Sammy marched with purpose to the furthest Trainer box, Pancham jogging to keep up. She turned back to face Amber and nodded, her expression set. "I don't know where you think you're going, you're up first," she said to her punchy Pokemon. "Get back out there."

Grumbling to himself about injustice Pancham turned back around and walked out of the Trainer box onto the arena proper.

"I'm assuming you want to use Valor first," Sammy said, "but you can pick someone else if you want. I should warn you that I'm not going to leave Pancham out to dry either way. Whoever you pick I'll make sure he does his best."

Amber Frost

Amber entered the flat arena, surveying its details, especially the white lines drawn. She watched Sammy enter one of the little white boxes on one side, and spotted a similar box on the other. After a brief pause she went in stood in the one opposite her, hoping that's what the other box was for. She'd never been in a real arena before; most official places kicked her out before she could even get near them. She looked at Valor on her shoulder; he was clenching and un-clenching his talons on her shoulder, anxious for battle.

She nodded as Pancham went out onto the battlefield. Valor grinned, exposing his fangs. Amber chuckled. "Well, I'm not gonna deny Valor this battle. He seems pretty pumped for it," she remarked. Valor took that as permission and gracefully launched off her shoulder into the battlefield. He turned his head to take a look at his surroundings; it seemed mostly flat, and most importantly, had empty sky above it. He was gonna show that pathetic Fighting-type just what the power of flight could do.

Samantha Felicity Cooper

"I'm sorry to hear that," Sammy admitted with a devious grin, "Because as much as I want Pancham to learn a lesson that doesn't mean I won't stand by him as his Trainer and support him in this battle. Sorry Valor - Pancham, Circle Throw!"

The diminutive Fighting type let out a less than impressive battle cry as she charged forward towards the airborne Valor, his short legs allowing him to propel himself quickly even if he didn't cover much ground with a single stride. As he closed the distance he crouched briefly and took a leap through the air towards Valor with his hands reaching in front of him, easily reaching the modest height Valor had begun the battle at. After all, he had no reason to elevate immediately, how could he have known this was coming?

If Circle Throw was successful then Pancham would grab Valor - probably by the convenient handle of his wings - and flip over the Zubats head, releasing the other Pokemon at a critical moment to send him hurtling back towards Amber. Some hidden quality of the technique would cause a different member of Amber's team to replace Valor on the battlefield. It was the perfect move for a Pokemon with a type disadvantage to use, the worse that could happen was that the next Pokemon would still have an advantage. But with any luck it would even Pancham's chances for a time.

Or he'd fall flat on his face.

Amber Frost

Amber watched the battle begin, a bit puzzled by Sammy's confident attitude despite Valor's clear advantage. Her confusion faded in an instant as the small Pokemon launched into the air after Valor. She opened her mouth to call out a warning, but there wasn't enough time.

Valor watched Pancham for the first move, before readying an attack of his own. Charging the attack left him without a constant stream of noise, affecting his vision as he had to rely on ambient noise to give him an idea of what was happening. Thankfully, Pancham gave him some advanced warning, but not nearly enough to fully prepare the Zubat for the surprise attack.

As Pancham's cry rang out, the sound quickly revealed his position. Unfortunately, that position was in the air, right in front of Valor. Valor's reflexes kicked in, and he gave a powerful beat of his wings, pushing them down and forwards, sending him away from the incoming Pokemon, releasing circular blue and yellow Supersonic waves that he had been charging at him. However, this put his wings in the optimal position for a quick handhold, and Valor found himself being whirled through the air by his wings and thrown violently towards the ground. He painfully flapped his wings, desperately trying to slow down his air velocity. His landing was slightly softened, but still he tumbled towards Amber, his landing knocking a new Pokeball into the air.

The Pokeball opened, releasing a tan and orange figure onto the battlefield. Spirit snorted at the sight of a somewhat dazed Valor lying by Amber's feet. The Ponyta rolled his eyes at him before turning towards the battle. The Pancham didn't seem too threatening, although if it managed to get the upper hand on Valor, he wasn't going to underestimate the Pokemon's potential.

Amber took in what just happened with surprise. She'd never heard of a Pokemon move that could do something like that. Still, she knew she better help Spirit out before the Pancham made his move again. She wasn't sure if Valor's Supersonic attack had worked, but they didn't have time to wait and see. "Alright, Spirit. Run through the usual deal, but keep an eye on him. He's sneaky, so brace yourself for a quick dodge," she instructed. Spirit whinnied in ascent, beginning his first attack.

He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. When he opened them again, there was a faint glow in them. He called out to the Pancham as the glow expanded in the direction of the opposing Pokemon. "That was a good trick... You must be a really strong battler to pull that off... It must've left you pretty tired though... You should take a nice, long nap... Just forget the battle, you've earned a rest..." he called out, his voice soothing and musical. Waves of power seemed to emanate from the words and mix with the glow, washing over Pancham.

If it worked, Pancham would be a perfect sleeping target for Spirit's next move. If not, well, Spirit had better be prepared for a quick escape.

Samantha Felicity Cooper

Pancham landed in an ungraceful roll, staggering back to his feet in an unsteady circle as he tried to regain his balance. That damn bat-brain had done something to him, he couldn't get his bearings! He tottered around foolishly even as Spirit took to the field.

Sammy however was... laughing? She seemed to be enjoying herself a great deal, even if things weren't obviously going her way. "Don't forget to eat your greens Pancham!"

Pancham lurched forward drunkenly and grimaced as he bit down on the small green berry folded into the leaf he seemed to be constantly gnawing. The sharp flavour of the Lum Berry instantly brought him back to his senses and he turned his attention directly to Spirit... just in time to be hit full in the face by Hypnosis. His expression turned slack as he listened to the suggestive power of the Ponyta's voice, falling onto his side with a soft thud as he succumbed to sleep.

"Grah, c'mon Pancham!" Sammy yelled, her previous elation vanishing. "What was the point of the freakin' Lum Berry!? Wake up, give 'em heck!"

Pancham was oblivious to her calls however, dreaming dreams of marmalade sandwiches as he lay defenseless on the battlefield...

Amber Frost

Amber smirked at Sammy's irritation. She called softly to Spirit, trying not to make noise loud enough to wake the sleeping Pokemon. "Good work! Phase two is a go..." she called. Spirit smirked and flipped his mane in elation, sauntering around as he built up the next attack. A soft pink glow grew around his hooves as he walked, then trotted, then pranced in circles, jumping and spinning around. Each contact with the ground shot pink hearts out like sparks, and they swirled towards the sleeping Pancham.

The hearts spun around Pancham, slowly draining his will to fight and weakening his muscles. Spirit grinned as he danced, his Charm attacks seeming to hit the immobile Pokemon. He wondered how many he could pull off before the lazy lug decided to wake up from his little nap. He really only needed a few, but it was fun to see how high he could get his highscore to go.

Samantha Felicity Cooper

Sammy balled her hands into fists as she watched Pancham succumb to two bouts of Charm before finally snorting and sitting upright, looking around blearily.

"About time! C'mon, get back in the fight, Comet Punch!"

Pancham got his feet back under him and charged for Spirit, his small fists blurring as they lashed out multiple times. The little bruiser knew one thing, and that was how to throw a punch. Thanks to his Iron Fist ability Comet Punch had its power boosted, limiting the damage caused by Spirits Charm, but not negating it entirely. With those attacks Amber had prevented Pancham from possibly beating Spirit, despite the fact that Pancham was the more trained of the two Pokemon. All Sammy could hope for now was to wear the Ponyta down.

Amber Frost

Spirit was still spinning when Pancham woke up. At the sound of Sammy's voice calling out a command, he froze and quickly spun towards Pancham, just in time to get punched in the face. It wasn't a particularly hard punch, as Pancham's attacks were significantly weakened, but hard enough to get a bruise. Spirit reared up in pain, hopping backwards as another two punches collided with his chest.

How dare Pancham bruise his beautiful face?! Spirit snorted and pawed the ground in anger. "Don't let him get away with that! Show him what real speed is!" Amber called out, feeling confident that any sort of mark on Spirit's pristine coat would be enough to enrage the vain Ponyta. While the moves they had planned out worked well, it was too risky to try repeating the same strategy twice. She felt heat roll off of him as his mane grew into a blazing inferno, and he charged. The inferno bent, forming a cyclone around him. As he neared Pancham, Spirit jumped, the cyclone of fire spinning around him as he fell towards Pancham, the spinning wheel of flame working with gravity to propel him down onto the Pokemon. If it missed, the Flame Wheel attack was likely going to be a very hard landing.
