How about you make a topic for the spider stories, so we can get them out of here? ;_; I want to post, but somehow I don't think that a spider on my face would get me over the fear.
I think I've ran out of spider stories now though, and by the looks of it, I'll be the only one that'd post in there. And, hey, you'll never know until you try. XD
You know what they say: "to get over your fear, face it."
Awesome.
Reason's the only reason we even have fear. It's never done anything to help me get rid of certain fears, so jumping head first into something always works for me. Not always actually, more like, 80% of the time, but it's a lot better than why reason and logic.
It makes sense though, the only way you're going to overcome any fear is to deal with it head on. There are two ways of overcoming a fear, gradual progression where you're slowly exposed to your fear, and full immersion, where you're thrown right in. They both end with you doing exactly the same thing, so why bother doing it slowly?
Of course, there's bound to have been one or two heart attacks from full immersion to their fears.
Bugs mind their own business most of the time. With the exception of flies and mosquitos, I really don't mind insects. Even bees mind their own business most of the time. And even if they do sting you, it doesn't hurt that much. I also enjoy the self-satisfaction that because they decided to sting me, they are going to die. XD
Yeah, those tiny little things don't go around plotting ways to kill us. They're just looking for food and a safe place to hide, that's all their lives consist of. They aren't like wild lions who'll rip you to shreds if they see you.
Eww, if I ever had a spider on my clothing I'd literally scream. Well, maybe not really scream but it'd freak me out a lot. I don't know why people are so scared of them really, they're tiny compared to us and only a few of them can harm a human.
I had a spider crawl up my sleeve at work once and I couldn't get it out, so I had to take off my shirt just to find it. I'd love to see that happen to somebody else. XD
I don't know where the fear comes from, or why it's so common. Because it does make no sense. Then again, that's why it's called arachnophobia, a phobia is an
irrational fear of something.
