4th Gen The 'Pokemon Following You' Discussion Thread

That riding pokemon idea has given me a thought.
What if you could actually see your pokemon performing the HM moves.

Example: Rock Smash
You talk to your partner pokemon (or select it from menu)
Partner pokemon/other pokemon walks in front of player and visibly smashes rock
Partner pokemon walk back behind/ other pokemon fades out as if being recalled into pokeball
 
That's a pretty cool idea, Nocturne.

I've thought for awhile that there should be a Pokemon race thing, kinda like the beauty pageants but less stupid. Just something to chill out and do. You could enter in a Pokemon, and then it's speed would be max speed, special attack acceleration, defence endurance, attack ability to smash obstacles or jump over them, and special defense stamina or something like that. And it's type could have a bearing on its obstacle weakness or resistance, like fire types would do worse in water, flying types could jump higher, things like that. I know it'll never happen, but it just seems like it'd be kinda cool.

Sorry for deviating from the main topic for a moment. Where did everyone hear about the Pokemon following you? I didn't know until yesterday that Nintendo was actually remaking G&S.

The news about the remakes were probably starting to hint off from late April to early May with the new theme of the Pokémon Sunday show. After that, it was basically a wonder to the fans until finally revealed not too long after during that week. So, many people have known about the new remakes for awhile. There are also more included features and information received since then that you would like to catch up on using the Official Information Sticky.

Anyway, as for the Pokémon following you, it was seen with the starter at first. However, it eventually moved on to us knowing it was all 493 Pokémon about earlier this month. So, it is basicly old news, but I understand you now learning about it.

However, the idea of riding your Pokémon. This leads me to think that the previous idea of surfing on your "Surf" Pokémon's OW sprite would make perfect sense. I wouldn't mind seeing this happen, but only time will tell. Other than this and the Pokémon tagging behind us, they may include other events within the game that might take part in this feature.
 
This and a few other features will make Soul Silver my fav pokemon game! I can't wait to see my Celebi, Lugia, or Chikorita following behind me when I walk. It seems like they are trying to make this game a little more personable than the last few.
 
I agree, Beauty. You know, that's why I like to do PBR double battles. The Pokemon feel more real, and seem so much less lonely.

I'd have my Typhlosion behind me mostly, but I wouldn't mind chillin' with my bro Gallade either.
 
I definatly think having my favorite Pokemon (Ninetales) would be cool. Of course if I wanted to keep the game classical then there will hopefully be an option to return your Pokemon.

(A little off topic but I realized I havent been posting here at all for months now!)

I would like to see my level 100 Dragonite and level 100 Togekiss follow me in this game. (Right now, they're in Platinum.) I'd like to see some of my contest champs follow me as well. Magcargo, Venonat, and Milotic.
 
Which Pokemon will Follow you?

As most of you must know by now, all 493 Pokemon in the world can now follow your character in the brand new Pokemon games, Pokemon Heartgold and Soulsilver.

But which Pokemon will you let walk with you in the game?

Me, well it would have to be Mightyena. :P. I'm it's #1 fan. lol.

So, who will follow you?

This is a stupid question since who follows you is dictated by which Pokemon is first in your line up.
 
Well if it's following YOU around, maybe mightyena's your number 1 fan, eh?

Uhmm..... I really don't think I'll like this feature. It was so annoying in PKMN Yellow and I always evolved the pikachu to get it to leave me the hell alone. I hope they give us an option to not have them follow.

Anyways if I HAD to choose, it would be.... Scizor. He's my favorite pokemon. (That's subject to change once I play platinum)

By the way, I THINK that this has already been discussed in a previous thread, or maybe the speculation thread...
