"I think we'll win." Travis muttered.

<Hmm? Nii-san, what are you talking about?> His Pokemon replied.

The two were stretched out in the stands, chatting while the rest of the team prepared for the match- in the corner, Trodite and Raidon were playing a game of "Oicho Kabu", a sort of Japanese blackjack, with Mahiru, who seemed to be winning. Meanwhile, above them, Alice and Hikari were laughing about something or other, as usual. Ryota continued sucking on his egg, while waiting for his "brother" to answer.

"I mean what I said- we won't lose. It's like, you know, I've got this amazing feeling that our opponent, no matter how tough she is, can't win. It'll be a battle made in heaven for you, I think. After all, she is female- which almost gurantees at least one Pokemon will be a girl..." Travis teased, winking at his partner.

<Now we're talkin'! Lead me to her!> The mongoose-like Pokemon grinned. <By the way, can you predict who'll win the next round?>

"Um, yeah. I bet that it'll be... Artemis! Yeah!"

<Would you stake your left arm on it?>

"Um.. yeah! I'd definitely stake it on Artemis-kun winning!"

<Well then, I won't take you up.>

Meanwhile, Alice groaned. <Amateurs. Not a proper gentleman in this bunch, except for Travis-sama. I'm displeased.>

Her friend, Hikari the Absol, stared at her with deep, coal-black eyes. <You know, you've said that same thing since you came with us, Alice-onii-chan. I am beggining to doubt your belief in that statement.> She replied softly, as the breeze traveled through her pearl-white fur. ((Can you tell I like Absol yet?))

With a huff, her jade-green "sister" drew herself to her full height. <Of course I mean what I said! You know I would never say it otherwise!> Her voice was laden with outrage, but her eyes seemed to be unsure. Hikari calculated the odds of her next comment producing its desired effect, weighed the consequences, then changed the wording a bit before replying <Of course, Alice. Forgive me for doubting you- and yet, forgive me for saying that if you truly felt as deeply as you do, would it not be prudent to leave? Travis-sama has given us permission to do so at any time, you know.>

Her Sceptile comrade relaxed visibly. <I apologize, Hikari-chan. Gomen Nasai- I am sorry. I really do think that Ryota-kun and the rest could use a bit more civility- but I love them as they are too. Forgive me- I will not speak so harshly next time.>

<There is nothing to forgive.> Her Absol "Sister" murmured, nuzzling the gecko-like Pokemon affectionately.

Meanwhile, below the two female Pokemon, a different sort of drama took place.

<Oicho! Beat that! I guess I finally win!> the small, mouse-like Pokemon grinned, spreading his cards on the stand-bench.

<But Raidon-kun, I have Oicho as well.> The red and white, ball-like Pokemon beside him commented, gently lowering the metal-backed cards he had been using his electricity to keep aloft onto the table.

<Ee? Nani!?! We tied! Well, I guess we split the pot, my genderless buddy!> The Raichu grinned, rubbing his paws together.

<Wrong- you both lose.> A spectral voice entoned. Both Pokemon turned to see their partner, the oddly-named Mahiru, floating in place as she spread her cards along the table. <Kabu. I take the pot again- which means both of you lose, and you all have to go out first. Again.>

<NANI!?!? YOU CHEATER!> Raidon shrieked, as Trodite did its best to keep him from leaping at the gloating Dusclops.

The announcer had stated "Three Pokemon aside," he began, looking back and forth between the two trainers, "the first to knock out three of his opponent's Pokemon or has the most number of Pokemon remaining after the match has ended, is the winner. Understood?" Then the two trainers started the battle

Cain was looking at the battle at hand. He was wondering what pokemon would be used in the pokemon league. He wondered if people here had beated 8 gyms like he did. But if they didnt Cain knew he had an advantage against them since he had more experience.

After the guide reminded the 15 trainers of the rules, a lady came up and lighted a giant torch which lighted up the whole stadium- finally, the Pokemon League had started. The crowd went wild.

He looked throughout the stadium and saw somthing amazing- his two best friends, Cameran and Katie. Cameran has been Andrew's friend since preschool. Cameran had a variety of Pokemon. His main team is Hitmontop, Rhydon, and Tryouge. Someday he wishes to be part of the Elite Four. Katie had been Andrew's friend since seventh grade. In the middle of Andrew's ninth grade year he asked her out. They have been together eer since. Her team consists of Chancey, Roselia, and Vaporeon. She wishes to be a Gym Leader.

Andrew couldn't wait until he could go say 'hi!' to them. But, the first battle begun right after the giant torch was lit. Luckliy Andrew wasn't in the first battle. Andrew and the other trainers gathered into the locker room. Ready to watch the first battle of the tournament.

CK had an early night the night before. There wasn't much to see at the festival, and if her Pokemon stayed out any longer than they did, Balos and Psi were going to be at each other's throats. Balos had wandered off to where an unstable tree branch was, and a Pokemon walked under it just as it fell. Balos' smile faded when Psi Teleported the Pokemon away from the danger without it getting hurt, spoiling Balos' fun. Then an argument broke out and Balos attacked Psi, who Teleported up on CK's head to get her attention.

That pretty much explains the early return to the solitary cabin for CK. Now she was waiting in the locker room with twelve other trainers, as two trainers had gone out to the arena for the first battle. CK sat by the sideline with Psi sitting on her right shoulder. They looked around the room at all the other trainers, wondering how strong each of them was. CK didn't care if she won or lost, as long as she had fun and her Pokemon benefitted somehow.

OOC: Wait who is going to win Yoshi's battle Toom? Since I cant post anything about my character at the moment that wont be pointless spam that will be irrelivant to the point. Are all the characters besides Yoshi in the locker room?

IC to come later

OOC: Due to some circumstances involving YoshiRiRu he will no longer be able to post in this RP. Because of this, we'll just assume that YoshiRiRu's character and his NPC character have finished the match in a tie, eliminating both of them from the competition. So now Grim your match against your NPC character will start. The NPC battles are just for filling purposes and all non-NPC characters will be declared the winner. Grim, you can now start your match off and follow along the lines of YoshiRiRu's character's tie. And yes, at the moment all other characters except YoshiRiRu's Artemis and Blue are in the locker room.

"Wow- a tie! That was unexpected..." Travis murmured.

<Well, now I wish I had taken the bet! Artemis never won.> Ryota humphed indignantly.

"You be quiet you great furry lump." Travis said, before giving his dissapointed Zangoose a friendly punch in the arm, "Besides, it's almost our turn!"

<That's what I'm afraid of- ten bucks we're up against that girl who fined us earlier.>

"I hadn't thought of that. Oh, well, at least we can apologize again, right?"

<You say that like it's a good thing.>

Miles stood up as the battle's conclusion was announced by the adjudicator. He had not expected that the match would have ended in a tie and found the prospect troubling. The tournament was far more serious than he had first imagined. He knew that the trainers were some of the best in the world, but the match between Artemis and Blue completely took him by surprise. The sheer skill, strength, and bond that the two trainers shared with their Pokemon were amazing. He would not have believed the outcome of the match without seeing it for himself. It was truly a memorial battle.

Around the room, the other trainers had grown silent during the match but had again begun conversing once the result was announced. Upon the screens, Artemis and Blue regrouped their parties, shook hands, and to the cheers and applause of the crowd, left the arena. The board of directors quickly made their comments on the battle and the adjudicator soon continued with his introduction for the second match of the tournament. "Now, let's introduce the next to trainers to the arena. Please welcome Pokemon Trainers Cain Ritham and Roy Langdon!"
The crowd rose into applause again as the next two trainers entered the main arena. The adjudicator confirmed the rules once again for the two trainers before instructing them to take their places. "Let the second match begin!"

OOC: Toomi. My character was speaking to yours and you completly ignored it. Either that or you didn't read the post above. I can't really post anything until you reply.

OOC: Well finnaly

IC:
The view screen said my name. So Cain proceeded down to the arena. He was so deathly nervous that he almost collapsed. But he still kept going and made it to the Arena. Cain went to one of the ends of the battle area and waited. Eventualy Roy Langdon apeared. He looked like he was going to win this himself. So he unsheathed a pokeball

One of the people beside the arena started to speak. "Three Pokemon aside," he began, looking back and forth between the two trainers, "the first to knock out three of his opponent's Pokemon or has the most number of Pokemon remaining after the match has ended, is the winner. Understood?"

Roy then got into position for battle and as did I. I was waiting for the match to start

OOC: Okay, Pokemon battle rules have altered again, sorry. The maximum limit is 20 posts since 30 would be really long. Of course, you don't have to finish the match in 20 posts. You can conclude the battle earlier if you wish. And @Hyuuga Neji, sorry, I had fallen back and lost sight of what was going on. Although your OOC post would have be more beneficial if you had sent me a PM, just so that there isn't any disruption during the RP posts.

IC: He watched the second match unfold as the two trainers known as Cain and Roy entered the arena. Artemis and Blue had returned to the locker room where the other trainers gave them their support and congratulations. Before Miles could greet them he noticed that the adjudicator for the next match had announced for it to begin. Both Cain and Roy grasped their first Pokeball from their holsters and revealed their first Pokemon for the match.

Miles returned to his seat after greeting the first two trainers and was approached by another, Xtian Lyke. The trainer appeared anxious and appeared to be making small talk to ease the situation. He introduced himself and made several statements that Miles felt uncomfortably familiar with.
"Well, I suppose it's a little strange to help the other trainers out and whatnot, and then having to find myself in direct competition with them later on..." he began, scratching his head, "but I've kind of found myself looking forward to meeting new people and seeing all their different kinds of Pokemon. Plus, making friends is kind of hard for me, so being able to spend time with other trainers on and off the field is always a positive to the job." Miles faced Xtian as he finished his sentence before realising that Cain and Roy had already begun their much anticipated Pokemon battle for the tournament.

Roy took out his pokeball and yelled "Go Gengar". Gengar jumped out of his pokeball after a few seconds. Then Cain grinned. He had a pokemon to counter that. "Go Alakazam". His Alakazam jumped out of the pokeball in a flash of light. Roy started first with a night shade. It missed Alakazam, then Cain knew what else. Alakazam was weak against ghost moves. But Gengar was weak against psychic moves. "Nows your chance Alakazam use Psybeam". Alakazam used Psybeam against the Gengar. It weakened it but didnt faint it. Cain knew it would take more blows.

All of the sudden his Gengar started to use Hypnosis. However Alakazam plugged his ears and used a Psybeam. This shuddered Gengar enough and he fainted. Roy started to look very afraid at that point. So he took out another pokeball. He released an Electrode. The electrode then started too look very happy. It seemed it was an easy target so Cain ordered his alakazam to use a simple Psybeam. But it was a trap. The Electrode used Selfdestruct and it blew up. Alakazam was caught in the blast and fainted. Cain was scepticle. It was strange he would sacrifce his pokemon just to take out the opponents. So he took out another pokeball and his Magmar jumped out. Cain reached for another pokeball. He threw it and his Tentacruel jumped out. Magmar started to look very hesitant at this point. Reluctantly but surely he used firespin. This hit Tentacruel right on the head. Though it wasnt fatal it still burned it badly. So with one last move Cain ordered Tentacruel to use Hydropump. The blast was so effective that the Magmar was blown away by the water. The stadium announcer then blared "WHAT AN AMAZING MOVE BY CAIN. THE MATCH IS OVER AND CAIN IS THE WINNER." Cain smirked. If the pokemon league was this easy he would be champion in no time.

<Wow- you were right. He won.> Ryota commented, staring at the locker-room closed circuit television, which had just broadcast the match live. <Guess we'll be next, huh? Did you get the dirt on our opponent?> He muttered, dropping his voice.

"Mahiru will be back with it in about- oh, say, five minutes." the Pokemon trainer replied under his breath. Sure enough, a moment later the Dusclops in question walked through the locker behind the two.

<I got the information- bad news. Not only is our opponent a skilled trainer, and a former champ, I believe this is one of the trainers whose Pokemon were molested by Ryota here.> the Dusclops intoned, her voice tinged with amusement.

<Molesting? I beg to differ! I was only giving her some attention- maybe a bit too much, I'll admit, but it was well deserved!> the Zangoose hissed, baring his fangs.

<Deserving or not, a gentleman never lays hands on a lady. You ought to be ashamed of your actions.> Alice chided from the corner, while a slightly blushing Hikari nodded in agreement.

<Okay, I've had it with you miss prissy-tile! Let's go at it, right here!" Ryota growled, as Travis and Mahiru pulled with all their strength to keep him from launching himself.

<Hmph! Well I never- I don't fight with common ruffians.> Alice replied, huffily turning herself away from the still screeching Zangoose.

"Nevermind that- Ryota, Raidon, Hikari, come with me. It's time for the battle to begin." Travis pointed out. Immediately, the three Pokemon in question lined up behind him as he marched toward the arena. It wasn't time for arguments anymore- it was time to fight.

OOC: Wow, this is about dead. Lets revive before its to late! I want to RP!!

IC: "Wow...that was...fast." Xtian spoke softly. He looked down at Miles, "Did you see it ending that fast?"

< You know you could prep your team so we are ready. > Ralts spoke to Xtian in a rather loud voice. Xtian smiled and replied.

"You all are ready. I dont need to prep you. You all can take on anyone here and you know it. You just want some attention dont you." Xtain laughed as he grabbed his pokemon hugging it tightly.

< Me...I...Oh...I CAN'T BREATHE!! > His pokemon screamed. Xtian laughed and placed him back on his head, < Thank you! > His pokemon spat as it grinned watching the trainers walk out of the battlefield.

OOC: Forgive me if I've forsaken the setting, I'm assuming that you're all in a trainers backroom and there's a sort of tournament ring like... THE GRAND FESTIVAL. :xx

IC: A group of voices erupted into laughter outside where a number of scattered people and trainers alike stood watching the big screen. The only voice that wasn't laughing at the poor Shuppet who was as red as a tomato was the metallic ring of Metagross, who simply let out a heavy sigh at the dorkiness of his partners, or, to be specific: Elic, the Jolteon, who was currently rolling around on the dirt, laughing at Shuppet's story.

<'It's not funny!!'> Shuppet stammered at top speed, making Elic laugh even harder then before. Toin's purple jaw had fell to the floor in his laughter as well, with Riddel fanning herself with her hand, trying to catch her breath as she used her other arm to hold her cramping sides which were heaving with tomboyish laughter. Shelldon, who was presently taking a good long nap in his pokeball, was completely undisturbed by this sudden outburst, while Shuppet was suffering all the taunts a normal Haunter would give someone for a story like the one Shuppet had just embarrassingly admitted, especially since Toin was just as ghost, and usually, normal pokemon couldn't even get to ghost pokemon.

"Oh hey, it's our turn guys. Ready to whoop some pervert ass?" Riddel grinned at Shuppet, who simply hid inside her pokeball for the time being. All at once, 4 beams of red light returned to the pokeballs resting on the thick black belt, their normally rep tops sharpied black out of Riddel's own boredom. Taking long strides with her arms swinging lazily, she re-entered the waiting room and folded her arms, fixing her steps into the usual distance. She ignored all the trainers in the room, not even trying to pick out the face she'd seen on the megascreen, instead, heading straight for the arena. She didn't care, she wanted this to be done with, so that she could laugh at Shuppet again, with Mach and Elic and Toin.

Standing at her end of the arena, dark glossed lips curled into a smirk, with her lanky arms still folded, hip jutting out to her right while the rest of her body stood to the left. Confident, was an understatement. Losing, well, as unlikely as that was, losing was exhilerating. It told the wild girl that she still had her right to walk around the Safari Zone just to train- and not to catch any pokemon. It told her she still had the right to put off doing any kind of research or crap for professor's who'd given her Mach.

But ready to lose, was not apart of Riddel's plan's today. It wasn't a year ago, when she stood here in the exact same pose, and it wasn't today.

Cain went to the lockerroom again. Surprised that people acknoledged him as the winner. He of course liked all the attention devoted to him. It was a tough battle however and he didnt know how he won so easely. Cain assumed that it was based completly on pure luck so he needed to train more efficiantly. Then Cain looked at the screen that showed the next battle. He saw the two trainers get into a battling pose. It was the start of the battle

As Travis and his Pokemon exited the locker room and entered the arena, the first thing that hit them was the light- not surprising, since they had been sitting in a dimly-lit locker room for the past hour, and the sudden sunshine was a bit of a shock. The bigger surprise was the number of people packed into the stands. Travis couldn't help but stare. He had never seen this many people at one tournament in his entire career as a trainer. "I had forgotten how big of a deal this tournament is," he whispered to Ryota under his breath.

Ryota nodded. <I hope you aren't too nervous, Travis-nii-san. It's gonna be hard to battle if you choke up on us.> he replied, giving his trainer a playful cuff on the arm.

"Well, with people as crazy as you behind me, how can I lose?" Travis asked, allowing himself to dissolve into quiet laughter as he and his Pokemon ascended the stage, and stared across the battlefield at their opponent. Travis was a bit surprised that he had been matched with a girl in his first fight, and one that Ryota had molested the Pokemon of to boot. He sometimes wondered if God was playinng games with him, setting him up with people like this. Ah, well, it was time to get started. And what better way to begin then a little friendly banter? "Ay, hello! My name is Travis, and I am honored to be fighting a trainer of your caliber today!" he shouted, "I'm sorry for whatever Ryota-nii-san did but if I win I promise to help pay for any therapy your Pokemon may or may not need to go through!"

<Travis, shut the heck up! She might take you up on it!> Ryota hissed.

"It's the only gentlemanly thing to do! If you hadn't molested her Pokemon, we wouldn't have this problem!" Travis hissed in return, flashing a glare at his Pokemon. Ah, well, the announcer was droning on- it appeared to be time to let out Pokemon number one. "Alright, Hikari, you're up!" he commanded. The pearl-white Absol nodded, and jumped into the arena with a flying leap.

Riddel waved her hand as if swatting a gnat away, "Trainer of my calibur?" Riddel smothered her laughter with her hand and called out, "Nevermind whatever your pokemon did to mine, it was hilarious- Toin, feel like avenging a friend?!" Tossing out the pokeball, a large purple haunter was still laughing his head off from the story, before he realized he was on a battle field, and even then he didn't stop his silly antics, reacting simply by pulling at the corners of his mouth until his mouth was as big as a door, his long pink tongue sticking out and blowing spit everywhere in a wet raspberry.

"Toin!" Riddel snapped scoldingly, "Get serious!"

However, the Haunter simply spun in circles in the air with his door sized mouth, and only powered up his shadow ball after Riddel had had to say it forcibly- "GODAMMIT TOIN, SHADOW BALL!!" Ignoring the annoying announcer that was saying, "It seems as if Toin doesn't want to respond to his trainer's commands! Well, I suppose not much difference from last year, eh folks?"

But he was quickly silenced when Toin hurled a shadow ball at the absol, Riddel huffing in satisfaction, while she grumbled, "About time- Scary Face!" Immobilize the opponent, and give the shadow ball a straight target, that was Toin's battle strategy.

Hikari stared. This was... nuts. The Haunter appeared to be attempting to drive its trainer mad. Slowly, a drop of sweat began trickling down the back of her head. This was almost laughable, and she might have sat down and started belly-laughing right then and there if it weren't for the fact that a large ball composed of dark energy was hurtling towards her. Tensing herself, she kicked off and leaped directly over the shadow ball, bringing her face to face with "Toin." Growling, she lifted her eyes to make contact with his, only to see the face he was making. Almost immediately her courage began to disappear like a vanishing magician, and a small yelp arose from the back of her throat. She attempted to stifle the fear, but it was no good. She felt everything spinning- there was nothing but Haunter, laughing, getting ready to finish her off...

<HIKARI! SNAP OUT OF IT, DAMMIT!> Ryota shouted, stamping on the floor of the arena.

"Hikari! Don't let him get to you! It's just a trick!" Travis admonished.

Hikari shook her head. Trick? What trick? The Haunter was tricking her? What was going on? Where was she? Slowly, her head turned- directly behind her, she could see Travis and Ryota frantically waving their arms.

Trick... fear... trick... fear... Scary Face! That's it! But then... if I messed up I looked bad in front of Ryota-kun... what? I'm not going to let anyone do that to me! Out of my way!

With a roar, Hikari broke out of her reverie. Snarling like a wildcat, she didn't stop to wait for an order, but instead gathered the dark energy to her mouth and began firing one shadowball after another at the floating ghost.

"Wow! It seems that Scary Face has backfired, and that Absol is getting ticked! Was this Travis's plan all along?" the announcer was screaming.

Hardly- but if he wants to think that, let him. I'll tell the truth if anyone asks me. Travis thought, smiling to himself.

Toin, being an experienced pokemon, but never being the one who'd show it, began to freak out. And I mean freak out. He let out a high pitched girly shriek and shot up in the sky, flying in circle's to "Avoid" the attack. (Succeeding in a very showy way,) I clenched my fist in annoyance, knowing he was only doing this to put on a show and get me pissed, before I shouted, "Toin!! Destiny Bond!" Toin stopped his show to fly back to his place in front of me, with a sinister grin that was practically wider then his face as he shot out his purple hand shot it through the absol, cackling like a witch as he entwined their fates.

I folded my arms and tried to regain my calm, knowing that Toin loved giving himself handicaps like a ruffled trainer, and I drummed my finger's on my arm. Now, how to get rid of the absol without getting rid of Toin? That meant Mean Look was definetely out of the question. Not that I really liked that move anyhow. Spite was inaccurate, but without Shadow Ball, that would get rid of one powerful attack.

"Add a Spite to it." I said off-handedly, as if I wasn't really interesting, and Toin cackled, <'Roger that!!'> as he reached out to rip the attack away from the absol. I was half expecting the move to miss. If it did, then all the better- Toin wouldn't care if he was sacrificed to get rid of that absol. He seemed to have already gathered that we wouldn't attack the absol physically again in the entire battle.

In fact, even if the absol didn't attack us, we could make it attack. I smirked and waited for the result of Spite. Whether it remained the same on playing grounds or took me a little step higher, it made no difference to me. Patience, was a virtue. Even Toin had a little patience.
