I usually let my Mudbray learn Heavy Slam before evolving it.

Dewpider and it's evolution have an Ability called "Water Bubble", which doubles the power of Water-type moves, and that's before applying STAB, boost by Rain and held items such as Mystic Water or Life Orb.

They can even dish out strong Special attacks, even though they have a low Special Attack stat.

Water Bubble also prevents Burns in addition to weakening Fire-type moves used on it.
