And if you choose Mawile, iirc you can only use Ruby. (Saphire doesn't have Mawile, Emerald gets it later). If you really want a Steel type, why not just use Aggron?

Finished Victory Road with the help of repels and beat rival. I had a lot of luck, his Torterra used Earthquake and no Grass move, and his Floatzel used Brick Break.
Graveler is still somewhere in the low 90s, and I accidentally leveled up and evolved my Starly into a Staravia in a double battle, I had no way to kill it because my only moves left were Rock Slide (can't hit own team) and EQ (obvious)

Oh ok i started my game gold picked name Gold.
looked out window of elms lab picked Cyndaquil as my first.

- Got out of the first route lv 8 1hp
- took down a pidgey and got my pokedex lv 10 now!
- Beat up silver got back to Elm i got poke ball! and lv 11
- Now i got a Sentret and heading to the next town!
I got a pidgey! It usually hides in tall grass. because it dislikes
fighting, it protects itself by kicking up sand.

Sorry it seem like i am not following the rules but my pokemon keeps on dieing so I had came up to put them in to the pc in till i need for the hm hunt this sould make it fair.
- pokemon in party butterfree I am staying with at too.
- I took down bug guy and it was not easy.
- Kicked sliver's but once more and now the forest.

Ok it's on to tips on using such a a bug type first get it as an medapod this way its def grow more so it can take fire and ice moves. The hardest pokemon that red had was his snorelax to not get in to what i got in to pick moves with a lot of pp keep moves that can put the other one asleep. I had to look out for dark types don't pack your moves with stuff that only one wide range instead pick many move this would of made it a lot easier on me I guess. The elite four was almost a breeze so use it lv Instead of just wining this way I could one hit kills was more possible. And dragon types where no problem but lance's areo was the a big pain so you sould get a lot of hyper pitons to me it was close it a max.
that's all i got to help you when you try something oh like Beedrill hehehehe.

OH this is fun I guess I'll do pokemon Red Pidgey next!
- Ok i just beat Green
- Got to lv 20
- took down Brock (Even with my high level my moves did close to nothing on his onix)
- Mt moon was no trouble
- Took down Green once more almost 2 hiters
- Took on Misty and won no sweat
- Got to Bill need to stop using 100x speed
- Took down the hole SS. Ann in one try
- Over came LT. Surge I thought he be hard
- Pidgeot lv 40 next plant gym
- It was nothing to my Pidgeot the move fly is nice to me
- Took down team rocket no problem
- And got the poke flute it was nothing lets hope the gym is nice
- and the last gyms where nothing to me Lets see if the elite four can hold there name

Update: Beat Elite 4. It wasn't that hard, I beat everyone on first attempt.
Aaron: Rock Slide.
Bertha: 2 X-Attacks (I only wanted to use 1, but Quagsire used Dig, and I forgot about EQ hitting Dig users at that moment)
Flint: The only annoying thing was that many of his Pokemon outspeeded Graveler who took some serious damage
Lucian: The hardest. I used only 1 X-Speed for Set Up because Mime did heavy damage with Psychic. Bronzong lived as long as hell despite being a lot lower than Graveler. Luckily the 1 X-Speed was enough to outspeed Alakazam.
Cynthia: Embargo does hinder the use of X-Items. But by the time I found that out, Graveler already had +3 Attack and +2 Speed. 6 EQs later, I was the champion.
I'll edit my final stats into this post later

I have a lot of work to do... thankfully, I'm lazy! :P
However, something I DID do was finish my own challange. What was left? Well...
- Defeated the remnants of 1 island.
- Did the 4 island quest.
- Did all the stuff on 6 island. I decided that Alfred (who was a gloom) needed to evolve, so it became a Bellosom.
- Completed 7 island.
- 5 island, which was saved for last, was done.
- I defeated Mewtwo. Right before it, Robin hit the magical level 100. I gave my EXP share to Dodou so it could evolve.
- Defeated Loreli.
- Failed at Bruno. Turns out that Hitmonchan can survive a level 100 Blastoises Return and KO back with Counter... (reset 1)
- Redefeated Loreli.
- Killed Bruno. The horrible sight gave Batwoman the ability to evolve, so I let it, and it also allowed me to give my EXP share to Alfred. It would end up at level 33, one higher than all my other slaves.
- Took down Agatha and Lance.
- Let it be known that I hate Gyarados, and also love defeating the Joker.
- Final team was:
Blastoise "Robin" level 100.

I never skipped a trainer.
All of my pokemon were theamed after Batman (and the characture was Bruce Wayne himself), and my rival was the Joker, with villan themed (I can't remember what I exactly called them all, but Venusaur was Poison Ivy.)

Sorry I haven't updated in a while, ive been sidetracked with other things, mostly MW2. But I finally beat red. I dont really feel like going into detail about everything that happened, but I beat, Misty with Slashes, Blaine with surfs, Brock with surfs, taught Feraligatr Ice Beam instead of ice punch, blue was just an easy version of red.
Red battle:
Pikachu was asking for an EQ (and got it)
Charizard got a surf
Blastoise just got some more EQ
Snorlax got slash'd
Venasuar gave me some trouble, but Ice Beam freezing him was a lucky break
