The Random Pokemon Challenge

Well the rules would allow for it to be traded in I believe. If not I would change it because that's not much different from there being other formes in previous games.

There is nothing in the rules that I can see that says I couldn't but it is more along the lines of getting someone to give me one. If it happens then I'll get one but if not then I'm perfectly fine not using the mega form.

EDIT:
I've gained my first badge and wanted to do a small update.

Spoiler:

*Started game. Named character Pablo (after Picasso).
*Gained a Fennekin (Frank), which I used to catch a Weedle (Dora)
*Using Dora, I caught a Scatterbug (Guernica) and a Caterpie (Angel)
*Trudged through Santalune Forest, nearly getting beat tons of times as nearly every fight had the enemy using a critical hit
*By the time I got out all my main Pokemon team had evolved, giving me a Kakuna, Metapod, and Spewpa.
*Using the area right before the city, I was able to level up Dora to 10 and evolve her into a Beedrill
*Went through the gym 3 times before finally getting the badge
*Currently right outside the town (Route 4) with the Exp. Share training my Pokemon so they will evolve

Next step was recruiting some more team members. I now had access to the first floor of Chargestone Caverns where I was able to catch Deus Ex the Klink and Shocker the Tynamo. Now that I had four member of my team I felt confident enough to challenge the fifth gym.

After surf was acquired I was able to get my fifth member of the team the Frillish that I named Dusk. I cleared basically everything before getting to the sixth gym. There my Tynamo did great work against the flying pokemon. However the gym leader brought me down to the wire with those high damage acrobatics attack. However true to his name Loyal pulled out the victory and I claimed by sixth gym badge.

I'll update my game in (hopefully) a few hours. I've finally beaten the 2nd gym and am looking for hordes of Yanma.

EDIT: Okay, I FINALLY found a Yanma horde and caught one so here is a super quick update.

Badges

*After evolving my original 3 Pokemon, I went into Lumiose to finally meet the Professor.
*After doing a quick battle with him (which I won), I grabbed a squirtle. Bought a ton of Repels
*Went down Route 5, where I caught an Abra to level up (Using exp. share) so I could trade it for the Heracronite
*After some quick fights, Abra evolved and I put it in storage and put up the Finniken I got at the beggining in the GTS for a Heracross (You can only get Pinsir in X)
*Helped the guy in Parfum Palace (after passing through Camphrier Town and going to Shabboneau Castle) find his Furfrou and defeated the Snorlax blocking the path
*Caught an Illumise (Sylvette)
*Went through the cave and Route 8 sprayed down with Repels
*Went through Ambrette, chose the Jaw Fossil and revived it for a Tyrunt (which I'll probably use later as trade material)
*Finished up and went to Cyllage City, where I got beat down by the first trainer in the gym thanks to me using repels
*Went back through the last route and Connecting Cave to train and waited 2 days for someone to finally trade me a Heracross (who I call Panza but can't officially change its nickname)
*Started training Panza to level 25 for Brick Break and taught it Shadow Claw (TM 65; From Glittering Cave)
*Used nothing but Panza to destroy the second gym
*Currently on Route 10 leveling up the Yanma I caught (Quixote)

I thought you said you were putting a randomiser on so you wanted the National Dex option instead of the Johto Dex? With the randomiser on you can catch anything from gens 1-4. All fo the Pokemon I chose can be potentially caught in SS in national dex mode.

I quite like the team though, except I'll have to hack for a zorua which will be a biatch =/

And national dex is for the game to recognize my seviper,crawdunt etc, you can't catch them there...

The National dex option is there for choosing whether to randomize a team with the National dex or the regional dex. Based on what you're saying you should have marked no. Both of those Pokemon are available in the post game though which you have to play in order to complete the challenge in Johto, so it's up to you. You can get a reroll on Sceptile for inability to trade one in though.

You get Feraligatr in place of Sceptile.

Listen here. Last time I checked I was the one running this challenge. You don't get to make calls on resetting people's entries. I concede that I should have paid more attention on the Starter part but let me deal with this since I already addressed him and am waiting to see what he says about the National Dex.
