Every game prior to Generation V has had a Safari Zone. Heart Gold and Soul Silver have a very unique one, though - instead of it being six areas where you catch the same Pokémon, you can use Area Customizer to put six out of 12 areas in, place them wherever you want out of six slots and use Object Arrangement, which in the post-game can allow you to find certain Pokémon from Hoenn and Sinnoh that aren't available in the main game as easily.

What are your thoughts on the Safari Zone in this game? Discuss.

I actually loved the Johto Safari Zone, I really liked that you could pick which areas depending on which Pokémon you wanted to catch, not to mention the abundance of difference types of Pokémon you could get as a result :)

I also enjoyed the fact there wasn't a footstep limitation on this one, and with Baoba's method of calling you everytime something was added it gave a real feel of value to the Safari Zone, in that it was a place I could revisit numerous times as opposed to just the once like in previous games :)

Really really cool! I think it was the first customizable safari zone, or should I say the first. I love how if you put items down you can get foriegn Pokémon from other regions, so amazing! I've also seen a few shinies there by chance and caught all of them. That is pretty lucky and that adds to why I like it, but then again that is my own opinion n3n~

And it has no step or time limit! Woohoo! What a money saver. Much better then spending thousands just to find a Carnivine in the Great Marsh, haha. Although the result was awesome!

I liked the idea, but the fact that you had to wait a while for certain to Pokemon to show up was kinda ridiculous, and would have much rather you have access to everyone right off the bat, especially since there was no specific reason for their restriction, really.

I thought Baoba was cool, though. Props for Gamefreak for creating something different!

I really haven't spent much time there, despite having the game for more than 2 years and beating it forever ago. Most of the exclusive pokemon in there I had already transferred from gen 3/Diamond & Pearl, so I didn't really bother with it, though the concept is very cool.
