That's what I once thought aswell. But I do believe it is quite unlikely for them to put up more restrictions which would cause the end of our comics.

Heck, I even PMed Jake not long ago asking if the new '10 images per post' rule was new. Here's his reply.

It is, actually. It's around to stop the idiotic signature flooders putting smilies all over the place, and the newbie posters from overflowing their posts with smilies. If you want to post more than 10, you may post consecutively, depending on what you're doing.
