The Slump of the Nintendo Wii U

Nintendo's marketing and practice is what's killing Wii U. I mean, as a console, it seems more practical than the Wii. But would anyone want to buy a console that barely has any games? We won't see a Zelda game until next year, and Smash Bros is late 2014. If a console's getting good games after 2 years, there's clearly something wrong.

Just like the 3DS, a lot of people waited for certain games, and a lot of them bought a 3DS for Pokemon (I for example did that). So people are probably doing the same with the Wii U, waiting for Zelda or something that's not Mario. I'm not interested in any Wii U game at the moment, but I would consider buying it when Smash Bros and Zelda are out. There's no point buying a console without games.

There's Wind Waker HD available, and the upcoming Hyrule Warriors and Zelda Wii U this year, and yet that game didn't help much, so it's not Zelda that's going to help the Wii U. It's actually Mario Kart and Smash Bros. that are the killer apps the console has been waiting for, since Melee and Double Dash helped saved the GCN from becoming a complete flop.

WWHD didn't sell well as it wasn't really new content. I know lots of people who are waiting for Zelda U to come out in order to get a Wii U, so idk.

What the Wii U needs is an Animal Crossing. Just some game to throw years into.

tbh I always felt that Animal Crossing games on home consoles were irritating and inconvenient. Animal Crossing is a game that's designed to be played every day for the rest of your life so making it portable makes it a more feasible milestone.

Honestly, I think the Wii U needs to be marketed much better. They should release a Wii U bundle without the gamepad for £150 and bundle it with a mario game and wii u pro controller. It would be a good sell due to it being much more cheaper than the PS4/XB1 and would also force nintendo to make there UI easier to navigate without the gamepad. Also I wish there was a option to not use the gamepad and just turn it off so it doesn't waste battery.
