Since I haven't been around for a while and I cannot for the life of me remember what eras I was doing and on which games I am gonna make some new sign ups I guess:
Username: AoTora
Game: FireRed Advanced [FR hack]
Era: Jurrasic Jam
Username: AoTora
Game: Crystal
Era: Ice Age
Username: AoTora
Game: Red Randomizer [Basically a randomized Red game using online randomizer that adds random mons from all gens into the game - the levels still stay the same)
Era: The Pirate Golden age
The Ice Age has progressed at a slower age than anticipated. Perhaps my Pokemon are awaiting a thaw. In any event, I'm done with Silph Co. and Sabrina now, and I'm currently in the mansion in Cinnabar. From there, it'll be on to Blaine and Giovanni, who should both be a cinch with the typing of my team in this challenge.
I recently picked up Lapras, who is likely the final member of my team. I'm currently trying to get it caught up to my other team members, though it's going slowly.
Okay, I'm going to stop here then. I guess that means my challenge is over for now.
I will return later to continue it after I get a copy of X and after gen VII comes out.
Things have continued to progress slowly (i.e., I haven't been playing that often). I'm currently saved somewhere in the eighth gym, so I'll be tackling Giovanni and heading on to the Elite Four reasonably shortly. I'm still getting Lapras caught up to the rest of the team, but at this point, my team is around level 40 or so.
Started the game off and got my starter Cyndaquil
I forgot to name him but once I get to a name rater Ill change the names of my Pokemon.
Made my way to Cherrygrove City and got the running shoes.
I made my way up to Mr.Pokemon's house where I received the egg and pokedex from Prof. Oak.
Challenged by Silver ( renamed him Butch XD.) and beat his Totodile.
After returning to the lab I started my adventure , talked to mom, and recieved pokeballs.
Battled the trainers
Made my way to Violet City, beat the trainers in Sprout Tower and caught a Gastly I named Cronus ..
After beating the head Monk in Sprout Tower I received Flash and picked up Escape rope .
Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava while in sprout tower.
Singled the gym with Quilava and recived the Zypher Badge from Falkner.
Once I was finished I picked up the Pokemon egg and carried it with me till it hatched, and boxed Togepi after it hatched.
Trained up my Pokemon and battled the trainers through the next route making my way to Azalea Town.
Defeated Team Rocket and saved the Slowpokes. I also got Kurts number after giving him some Apricorns to make balls.
Went to the gym and defeated the gym with Quilava and Cronus. Beat Bugsy and recieved the Hive Badge.
Took on Butch again, and defeated his team with Quilava and Cronus.
After defeating my rival I headed into the forest where I helped catch both Farfetched, and received HM01 Cut.
I taught Quilava cut and made my way over to teach him Headbutt.
I went back to Azalea Town and had headbutt used on a few trees and caught a Heracross I named Huntress. ( I don't know if I am allowed to use Heracross this early but it stated to get a strong Bug Pokemon.) After I caught Heracross I rested some in order to do some training.
Heracross grew up to lv. 11 for the time being and will be training Cronus soon.
Was introduced to the daycare couple.
Made it to Goldenrod City and healed up my Pokemon.
Proceeded to the next route and caught some new team members. Selena the Nidoran (f) Riley the Growlithe,
Spent a eternity inside the game corner after getting enought coins for Ekans. XD. Renamed her Nina.
Update - 8/23/16 - I Got Two shinies ! !
Spoiler:
Did a lot of training today . During my training Nina evolved into a Arbok.
During my training sesssion I ran into a Shiny Nidoran ( M) !
I am almost ready to take on Whitney and her monster of a Miltank.
Armand evolved into a Haunter at Lv 25.
Went to the gym and won against trainers. I used mostly Nina and Huntress during the battle against Whitney.
I managed to take her I ended up using Nina against Miltank, and Huntress finished it off with a Brick Break.
Now I am training Angel up and then its off to the next city !
I got a shiny Metapod while training my Shiny Nidorino .
Made it to Ecruteak City and went through the burning tower defeating rival and found the gym leader there. I also triggered the Legendary Beast event.
Before taking on the gym I went back to the National Park and participated in the Bug Catching contest and caught a Scyther that I might evolve into a Scizor and use.
Now I am in training mode at the moment and have been playing hide n seek with Raikou, and Entei XD.
When I went to the Pokemon center in Ecruteak City I managed to find Bill there. I went back to Golderod and picked up Eevee.
Wednesday I did a bunch of training While training Max evolved into Typhlosion I also caught a few Pokemon like Miltank, Taurous, and two Magnimite. I also caught a Marill.
Update - 8-25-16
Spoiler:
Went back to the National Park and did another bug catching contest where I caught a Pinsir and named Terror.

Once the demenstration was finished I caught a Shinx and named her Lapis
and caught a Starly and named her Krystal.
For now Ill be training up these Pokemon.
Trained until all Pokemon were at lv 9 and proceed to Jubilife City There I met with Prof. Rowans assistant and he took me to the Pokemon school were we meet Looker.
After a bunch of talk. Lucus left me to go inside the Pokemon school. I battled the two trainers inside and got a potion. I then talked to Barry and gave him the parcel
Next I got my Poketech after answering questioned from three contest clowns XD.
After that was done I trained up my Pokemon again. Fought the trainers in the area on Route 204 and 203. I trained them up to
lv. 11 and continued on to Oreburgh City
I battled Barry and won with Sapphire and Krystal.
Once I was finished with Barry I headed down Route 203 to Oreburgh City where I went to the Oreburgh mine and trained up my pokemon after talking to the Gym Leader.

I also caught a new member a Ponyta I named Garnet.
After training I proceeded to the gym and battled the Gym Leader Roarak using only Sapphire.
Once I beat the Gym Leader I received the Coal Badge and TM 76 Stealth Rock
After leaving the gym I ran into Barry saying that Route 207 wasn't accessible until I got a bike. So back through the cave and Route 203 again back to Jubilife City.
Hey, I like to sign up for this challenge as well.

I hope my final team will be;
Sceptile
Ninjask --> If possible switching with Flygon (he looks like a reptile to me)
Shedinja --> Will be switched with Armaldo
Aggron
Camerupt
Sharpedo
After a amount of a lot of training I finally made it to the Ecruteak City gym defeated the trainers and defeated Morty. I mainly used Nina and Armand in the gym fight. After defeating the gym Leader I received the Fog Badge and the TM for Shadow Ball which I taught to Armand. After I battled the rocket grunt in the dancing girl house I recieved HM03 Surf and at the time taught it to my Belle my Miltank I had on my team before switching back for Nina
Once I was finished in Eruteak city I made my way to the next to Olivine City where Jasmine had left the gym in order to go take care of Ampharos. After climbing the lighthouse I managed to find her and agreed to help get the sick Pokemon some medicine. Once I made my way out of the lighthouse I proceeded to Cinawood City to get the medicine. Since I needed to do a lot of training with my Eevee at the time I skipped the Cinawood city gym and went back to Olivine city.
When I delievered the medicine back to the lighthouse Jasmine went back to the gym. There I took out Jasmines Pokemon using mostly Typhlosion. After defeating Jasmine I received the Mineral badge and the TM for Iron Tail. Once I was finished in the gym I went to do some excessive training. While doing so my Eevee evolved into Espeon at lv 30 . I was also able to obtain a Moon stone and evolved Angel into a Nidoking.
I went back to Cinawood city for awhile taking a break from training to go to the Safari zone and catch some Pokemon there. While going back I managed to catch my newest addition Trigger the Tentacruel. Once I got Tigger I put away Belle, and taught Trigger Surf. After catching Trigger I spent a lot of time training in the water. Tentacool and Tentacruel give of a lot of ExP. Later I moved on to Mahogany Town where I trained my Espeon. While in Mahogany Town I went to the place to catch the Red Gyarados and started the Team Rocket radio tower event. After talking to Lance I headed back to the city and proceeded to help solve the mystery.
Battling my way through the Team Rocky HQ I battled a lot of Rocket grunts and getting the password from a very helpful Murkrow Lance and I battled the Team rocket bosses and managed to stop the Electrodes powering up the HQ. After defeating Team Rocket for the time being and recieving Whripool from Lance I proceeded to train up my Pokemon until Espeon learned Psybeam. After going back to Cinawood City I proceeded through the gym fighting gym trainers and finally managed to challenge Chuck.
I used mainly Armand and Gage in this fight. After defeating Poliwrath with Armand I recieved the Storm Badge and the TM for Focus Punch. After stepping out of the gym Chuck's wife gave me the HM for Fly.
After making my way back to Mahogany Town I did some more training and when to go fight the gym leader and its trainers.
Going inside the Mahogany gym I made my way through the cold gym fighting trainers and finally managed to get to Gym Leader Pryce. During this fight I used mainly Max and my Heracross Huntress for this fight. I mainly used Heracross against Dewgong and Cloyster. After defeating Pryce I got the Galcier Badge and the TM for Hail. I then let Heracross rest for the moment when I went back to Goldenrod City to Defeat Team Rocket once and for all.
When I went down to the underground under Goldenrod I battled my rival, and managed to beat him with a team battle with all my Pokemon.
Against the rocket grunts I mainly used Max, Gage and Nina. Against Adriana I used Nina who surprisingly was faster than her Arbok and took the Murkrow out as well . I used Max against her Vileplume and beat her.
Against Archer I mainly used Trigger and Gage. I used Trigger against his Houndoom and Houndour . At first I had some trouble against the Houndoom but Trigger managed to take it out. Houndour was easier than Houndoom and used Gage against Koffing using Psybeam. After defeating Archer Team Rocket was disbanded.
Once that was over I took a break for awhile, and have been sitting in the game corner playing Voltorb flip while saving my coins to get Ice Beam , Thunderbolt and Flamethrower.
Once I save enough I will be heading toward Blackthron City to take on Claire and her dragon Pokemon to get the final badge. I don't know if at this point I will trade Trigger out for a Horsea at this moment in time so I can get a Kingdra. In the mean time Ill stick with Trigger as my dragon slayer. I also hope to evolve Armand soon.
The team (in brief, because I don't feel like getting the game out to check the details):
-Blastoise
-Lapras
-Nidoqueen
-Nidoking
-Sandslash
-Graveler
-Kabutops (on rotation)
All in the mid-upper 40s. I couldn't decide on a sixth team member, so I ended up with a rotation of seven.
Thoughts: I really liked picking up more of my team members earlier on this time. One of the things that really bugged me with Jurassic Jam was adding and training up a large portion of my team towards the end of the game. Even so, it was hard to get everyone enough experience. I guess it would be easier to keep a team properly leveled without grinding if using more like four Pokemon, but it was fun to have more variety (and gain more Pokemon at the end of the game that I can send to a storage file for later use or to transfer to Sun and Moon).
I like water types a lot, and I'm fairly fond of ground types, so the team wasn't bad. However, it felt less varied than in Jurassic Jam, maybe because the types selected had a number of overlapping weaknesses.
The lack of marts felt like less of a challenge this time, and more of a nuisance than anything. In particular, I've been somewhat annoyed to realize that in RBY, there are no places to get elemental stones (other than Moon Stones) outside of the Celadon Dept Store, so it does feel like I'm cutting out a bunch of potential Pokemon until I reach the challenges that don't have the mart restriction. That was more of an issue on my Jurassic Jam run than on this one, but it did rule out a number of potential water types.
I may move on to Stone Age in a bit. Not sure yet. It's taken me a lot longer to do this challenge than it did to do Jurassic Jam, so I don't know what my pacing will be like for future challenges, but if I start another one, I'll post an update.
Restarted my game and renamed my character Cleo and named my rival Ramses.
Here we go again !
For my first Pokemon I picked Turtwig, and battled Ramses and beat his Chimchar growing to lv. 6 in the process. After the battle Ramses and I went home to rest after our battle and to show my mom my new Pokemon. After dinner I told my mom about my day. After giving me some advice my mom gave me the Running Shoes.
Once I got my shoes I went back out to meet Ramses who had this great idea of going to catch a Legendary ... without and Pokeballs mind you XD. Going to the lake Ramses and I spied a odd looking man with spiky blue hair. I couldn't make out what he was saying but it was odd.
After finishing up at the lake Ramses left me to go see the professor. Trekking my way to Sandgem town I was met by Lucus who took me to the lab. Ramses came out all excited talking about Prof. Rowan and took off afterward. Lucas commented on how energtic Ramses was and the two of us headed into the lab. There I nicknamed
Turtwig Hapi. Once I got my Pokedex Lucus took me around town giving me instructions on the P.C and the P.M .
Lucas than suggested I go talk to my mom telling her I was going to go on a adventure. Once I had done so and agreed to take the parcel Ramses mom wanted me to deliever to him I set on my way. I met Lucas on Rt. 202 and he taught me how to catch Pokemon.
Once Lucas left I caught a Starly and named her Nut.

Spoiler:
Named self Ug, rival Oog. Picked up Bulbasaur named Tree. Soloed early game with Tree; became Ivysaur on Route 3 and Venusaur on S.S. Anne. Gave Tree Body Slam. Also Cut, unfortunately, because I didn't have a HM Slave.
At Celadon, I pause in my beeline to Flareon to realize that I can't actually buy a Fire Stone.
Oh.
Oh.
Oops.
At least I can get Vul--
Oh. No Fire Stone.
Ohhh.
As revenge for my foiled plans, I introduce Giovanni to my L37 Venusaur. And I do the same to Oog. I'm annoyed.
Catch Cubone with one PokeBall from Viridian Forest (hooray!). I then go to Snorlax and manage to catch it while asleep at half health with the Great Ball from the S.S. Anne trash bin. I was halfway expecting to end up missing it and have to go back to the other Snorlax with an Ultra Ball scrounged up later in the game (if there is such a thing), so that was a pleasant surprise. (It was asleep from Rest, obviously.)
Now that I had a real team, I headed down Cycling Road. Accidentally snagged a Rhyhorn in Safari Zone, much to my pleasant surprise... though I probably won't use it. In fact, I caught TWO Rhyhorns with one Ball each -- is that really supposed to happen? I thought they had a low catch rate.
Cubone evolved to Marowak while grinding a bit on Trainers nearby Fuchsia.
'Pokemon isn't about strength! It's about strategy!' - some guy in Koga's Gym who has no strategy beyond 'I have a L39 evolved Psychic type in Gen 1, lol :U'
Mind, I beat Koga with a L32 Marowak and L44 Venusaur, so I'm not much one to talk...
I then run off to Cinnabar and, since this isn't a Nuzlocke, collect Omanyte and Aerodactyl. After a brief Mansion jaunt, I sacrifice Blaine's entire Gym to the glory of LORD HELIX.
Now I take the oddest action of the run and beat Erika's Gym with Aerodactyl. That's not often a phrase you see, is it? But there's really no need for Strength early on, and my need to take her Gym out for EXP derailed when I suddenly realized that I couldn't buy Fire Stones. As such, there's no need for me to do anything but OHKO every Pokemon in the Gym with either Fly or Wing Attack. :U
LORD HELIX attains its final form while beating up Rockets in Silph. Afterwards, I solo Sabrina with... Aerodactyl?! Well. Never typed THAT sentence before.
(It occurs to me that, for all that Johto's Gyms look distinctly weird, it is in fact possible and easy to do Blaine before Sabrina, because the Mt. Moon Fossil can always solo his Gym with Surf (and a Pokecenter visit). So doing Gyms out of order isn't at all odd - it only looks that way.)
LORD HELIX OHKOs all of Giovanni's Pokemon, because why is the Ground type leader the final one? Just... seriously. Swap Giovanni and Sabrina and the game suddenly becomes more interesting.
With a finalized team of L36 Snorlax, L36 Marowak, L43 Omastar, L45 Venusaur, and L38 Aerodactyl, I head for Pokemon League. Amazingly, this actually whips Oog's team.
LORD HELIX gets Blizzard. I now enter the League proper...
Tree L47, Club L36, LORD HELIX L45, Snore L39, and Wing L40 versus the best trainers in the land.
It is a testimony to Lorelei's wimpiness that I actually solo most of her team with Tree. You know, the GRASS-type.
I have to revive Snore and Wing afterwards, as I had a brain freeze and tried to take out Jynx with an Aerodactyl. I don't know what happened there...
Tree also solos most of Bruno's team because I have another brain freeze and attack Hitmonlee with Wing Attack rather than Fly. Um... Anyway, Wing gets revived afterwards...
I break out a Full Restore for Agatha, and have to revive Club because it turns out two Night Shades were more than its max HP. I hand out five more Full Restores afterwards because Lance is Lance.
Beat up Gyarados with Razor Leaf because why not. Oddly, its AI goes insane and doesn't deal me a single bit of damage. LORD HELIX dispatches the rest with all five PP of Blizzard, and takes only one Full Restore.
Wing takes out the lousy Pidgeot, but falls to Alakazam... and Snore lands SUCCESSFUL PARALYSIS ON ALAKAZAM and takes it out. Rhydon is, as always, a joke. So is Exeggutor. Gyarados takes out Tree with Hyper Beam, but Snore avenges. LORD HELIX gulps a Full Restore and takes out Charizard, because it's perfectly normal to take out a Pokemon 17 levels higher... Ah, only in Gen 1.
And that is how I ended the Pokemon League challenge with four Revives, nine Full Restores, and:
Wing the L40 :t142: Club the L36 :t105: LORD HELIX the L48 :t139: Snore the L43 :t143: Leaf the L50 :t003:
...What. Not one Pokemon above L50? And this isn't even an optimized team. I took Lorelei out with a VENUSAUR. And I beat the feared Alakazam by dropping an underleveled Snorlax on it. I... didn't even have super-effective moves to unleash on Gyarados.
Gen 1, there is only one thing I can say to you: :t054:

After doing a lot of Voltorb Flip I managed to get enough coins to trade for Ice Beam.
I managed to get through the Ice path and made my way to Blackthrone City. After some training in the Ice Path I made my way through the gym and battled the trainers taking them out mostly with Trigger. Once I defeated the trainers I went out of the gym healed my Pokemon and then went back inside to fight against Clair.
It was a tough battle especially against Kingdra. I managed to poison Kingdra with Angels poison point ability twice even after Clair used a Full Restore. Due to this I was able to take Kingdra out with Espeon. After beating Clair she didn't give me the gym badge at first and challenged me to go into the Dragon's Den. After getting through Dragon's Den and answering some simple questions from Clair's grandfather I managed to get the badge, and Dragon Pulse.
Once I got my eight badge I went back to New Bark Town were I went to talk to Professor Elm. He had notified me that a kimono girl had asked to talk to me at the Dance studio in Ecruteak City. After battling the Kimono girls I went to the Bell tower where I managed to catch Ho-oh.
Once I caught Ho-Oh I took a few days for training and then went back to New Bark town to head toward Victory Road and Indigo Plateau . After battling a lot of trainers and getting through Victory Road I managed to get to the Pokemon League. For now though I am taking the time to train my Pokemon .
Hopefully in the next few days I can defeat the Elite Four and start on the Kanto gym challenge. :)

Spoiler:
After catching a Kricketot I named him Ptah
After getting these two Pokemon I trained everyone till they were all lv 10
At Lv 10 Ptah evolved into a Kricketune.
Once everyone was at Lv 10 I passed through to Jublife City where I met Lucas. As Lucas was taking me to the Pokemon school the two of us noticed a strange man hiding behind a light post. The strange man introduced himself as Looker and that he was from some international police group.
After Looker left and Lucus told me somethings he left to go help Prof. Rowan. I went inside the Pokemon school battled two trainers inside. I managed to take both out with Hapi and Nut.
Once I beat the two school kids I got a potion from the first of the two. I then talked to Ramses and gave him a parcel with two town maps. After giving me one of the Town Maps Ramses took off.
When I exited the Pokemon school I met a guy outside that introduced himself as the guy who makes a Poketech. After talking to some creepy clowns I got coupons for the Poketech.
Once I was done I headed up toward Route 204 and battled the trainers there.
Leaving Route 204 I went back through Jublife city and toward Oreburgh City. Before doing so I ran into Ramses again and he challenged me to a battle. I managed to take out his Starly with Hapi and Chimchar with my own Starly.
Once I defeated Ramses I headed through Route 203 and managed to pass through the tunnel to Oreburgh City. Once I got to Oreburgh city some kid met me at the entrance of the city and took me over to the gym. Ramses was sitting outside the door after having defeated the gym leader already. Ramses told me that the gym leader had headed toward the mine. While in the mine I trained Hapi all the way up to lv. 16 and went to find the gym Leader Roark.
I managed to find Roark and he showed me how to use Rock Smash. Once he demonstrated how to use Rock smash Roark went back to the gym. After training Nut and Ptah on Route 207 fighting against Ponyta and Machops. I managed to get Nut up to lv 16 and she evolved into Staravia. Once I trained up my Pokemon I headed to the gym.
After taking on the gym trainers and defeating them with Hapi he grew to lv. 17
Once I made it to Roark I took out Geodude and Onix with ease. At first his Cranidos caused me some trouble due to Headbutt. Eventually I took out Cranidos with a mix of Absorb and Razor Leaf. Once I defeated Cranidos Hapi grew to lv. 18 and evolved into Grotle.
After Roark gave me the Coal Badge and the TM for Stealth Rock I headed out of the gym. Making my way back to Route 203 I headed back to Jubilife City. There I ran into Prof. Rowan and Lucas being confronted by Galactic Grunts. Teaming up with Lucus we both battled the Team Grunts together.
Once defeated The grunts left, and I said good bye to the professor and Lucas. Heading back through Route 204. Getting through the tunnel I managed to get to Floaroma Town.
Next Ill be training my Pokemon and taking on Team Galactic .
Username: Disturb Not The Harmony Game: Blue Era: Egyptian Era
Okay, I'm now going (again!) through Blue.
Spoiler:
Grabbed Lebanon the Bulbasaur. There is a certain little-known feature in Gen 1 that Oak WILL give you five free PokeBalls - but only if you can beat the first Route 22 rival battle without buying PokeBalls or catching any Pokemon. Yes, that means only using your starter (since that rival battle disappears after you beat Brock). I managed this at about L11.
With my free goodies, I caught Isis the female Nidoran. Unfortunately, I realize that I don't need a strong Poison-type because I already have Lebanon. I'm on track to grab Meowth and Gastly and buy Clefairy from the Game Corner. I'm using Persian as my mandatory and Gastly and Clefable as my noseless Pokemon.
Incidentally, there is one Pokemon that Bulbasaur hates more than any other in the early game: Zubat. You see, this is Gen 1. One very interesting feature of Gen 1 is that Bug is super-effective against Poison. That means that all those Grass/Poison types are x4 weak to Bug. Since Bug utterly fails at countering Psychics in Gen 1, this gives Leech Life, Twinneedle, and Pin Missile an actual use - namely humiliating Erika's Gym and any other fools who use, oh, any Gen 1 Grass types other than Tangela. I feel that making Poison resist Bug was a mistake that detracted from one of early-generation Bug's niche uses, and, if I were a hacker, I'd specifically make Poison weak to Bug and Bug resist Poison.
The reason this is relevant is because Zubat can do 33% damage to Ivysaur with Leech Life. It also resists Vine Whip, and you can't OHKO the higher-level ones with Tackle, so... this is the one Pokemon in Mt. Moon that Ivysaur's really much better off running than fighting. Yes. Zubat is potentially a lethal joke in the very early game of Gen 1. That sort of weirdness is why I keep coming back to Gen 1 -- that, and 8000% Turbo in VBA. But honestly, in what other generation can you utterly humiliate a mid-game Gym with an underleveled Beedrill?
On the other hand, the Bulbasaur is absolutely overpowered in Gen 1. Its compensation for not being Squirtle of the flawless coverage is having Razor Leaf. What's so special about Gen 1 Razor Leaf, you may ask? Why, nothing short of Gen 1's bizarre mechanics rigging it so, for Pokemon of a certain speed tier, it always crits. Effectively-130BP STAB every turn? Yes, please.
So it's fairly easy riding through the first three Gyms and Rock Tunnel. I pick up Bast the Meowth along the way.
At Celadon, I luck into two 777s close together, granting me the remaining coins needed for Clefairy. In case you wonder why I went for this rather than catching a legitimate Clefairy, it's because I remembered Clefairy as having a poor catch rate and didn't want to burn PokeBalls on one and have nothing left for Meowth. I give it Body Slam and clean out the Game Corner with Lebanon, whereupon I head to Pokemon Tower.
Incidentally, one of Bug's uses is being a physical type super-effective against Poison... and the Gastly line has lousy defense. Again, I question getting rid of its effectiveness against Poison. Regardless, I successfully pick up Set the Haunter and train up a bit.
By the way, the only Pokemon that can TOUCH Haunter in the Fighting Dojo is Hitmonchan. I abused that and Silph for EXP, turned Nefertari the Clefairy into a Clefable after learning Minimize, and then turned to seeing to my rival.
KOed Alakazam with a L28 Clefable, thanks to a lucky Sing. Ah, Gen 1. Thanks to another Sing, I also discovered that a Pokemon's Rage can increase... while it's sleeping. Oh, Gen 1...
(That's right, I KOed two ~L40 Pokemon with a L28 Pokemon thanks to Sing. Gen 1 is a strange place. )
Giovanni is a laughingstock because, as it turns out, a Ground-type Gym Leader in disguise as a criminal forgot to bring any Ground-type moves. Set has a field day.
Erika is easily dispatched, incidentally. So is Koga, because a Haunter with Psychic destroys his entire team. I have a brief fearful moment when I fail to get Snorlax and I need an HM servant for Surf, but then I remember Isis the Nidoran and evolve her into a Nidoqueen. Problem solved! (And since I only have four active team members, I count myself as only needing Haunter and Clefable as noseless Pokemon. HM servants don't count, especially since I'm not leveling them at all.)
And thus we head off to another area. I grab Ra the Aerodactyl as a pure HM servant for Fly. I start handing Bast all the EXP because I honestly can't remember when Persian learns Slash, and I want some of that. Blaine goes down readily.
As does Sabrina (!), as does Giovanni. Venusaur takes Giovanni, Persian Sabrina. If there's any doubt, my rival goes down easily. It's amazing what an overleveled Persian, a Clefable, a Haunter, and a Venusaur can do.
League time!
Lorelei takes one Revive, but goes down like a ton of bricks. Set takes down Lapras, of all things. Hm.
Bruno is obvious Haunter bait. Between Dream Eater and Psychic, he doesn't even get to deal damage.
Guess who gets to solo Agatha? A L45 Haunter. You really don't use Ghosts well, ma'am. I didn't even have to PokeFlute once.
Bast gulps a Full Restore before Lance. Things go very wrong when Nefertari goes down, and thus we behold a Haunter taking down both Dragonairs and Aerodactyl. Due to Set running out of PP (!), Nefertari has to gulp two Revives before it sticks and she can take out Dragonite.
Haunter for most awesome unevolved Pokemon?
I pitch an Elixir to Set because I just want to get through this without issues. Lebanon and Bast get a Revive each, and they and Nefertari gulp three Full Restores.
There is a rather awkward moment when Alakazam decides to Psybeam everyone, but a Revive scramble brings them back long enough for Bast to take out. Exeggutor, which is always trash, provides a convenient time to revive everyone. (Seriously, it's totally broken -- Gen 1 Exeggutor's default moveset is Hypnosis, Barrage, and Stomp. Compare to Arcanine, which at least has basic STAB, and the horror that is Gyarados. Someone did not balance the rival's teams well.) Set takes it out after Lebanon gulps Full Restores, since Gen 1 Exeggutor can't touch Haunter, and also solos Gyarados with Hypnosis stunlock. And... Charizard with Hypnosis stunlock. Wow.
WHAT.
Final Team/Thoughts:
Spoiler:
Nefertari: L39 :t036: [Blizzard | Body Slam | Sing | Minimize]
Set: L47 :t093: [Psychic | Dream Eater | Night Shade | Hypnosis]
Bast: L50 :t053: [Bite | Screech | Pay Day | Scratch]
Lebanon: L48 :t003: [Razor Leaf | Cut | Tackle | Leech Seed]
Nidoqueen and Aerodactyl were HM servants for Surf/Strength and Fly, respectively.
WHAT EVEN WAS THAT. Once Hypnosis landed, the enemies were completely shut down. Why did the AI not activate and start spamming Full Restores? Rival's certainly done that to me with less provocation.
This makes the second run where, with the aid of the 10x Full Restores and 10x Revives, I've taken out the Elite Four with a distinctly underleveled team. Huh.
Special thanks to Set, who took out most of the E4 on his own. I've learned to truly respect Ghost-types. And to think, he wasn't even fully evolved...
Haven't playen all week due to the fact my final year in high school started last week. I want to pour most of my energy in schoolwork. I'll try to update this bi-weekly
Still loving the games.
I put Z the Totodile into the PC after obtaining her(totally not bc my rival will be easier to beat with the poison type advantage over Chikorita no....) and caught a Weedle. Trained Weedle as we went to Cherrygrove and caught a Zubat on the way to Violet City and trained her in Sprout Tower. Weedle evolved along the way, and again vs the Elder in the Tower. Beat Falkner on the first try, but only due to Harden spam. ~w~;; Its hard to buy one of everything, im not sure i have the money for such but Im trying.
Went through the routes fairly ok, and after saving the Well from the opposing Mafia gang Team Rocket, we caught our next member Slowpoke. I believe I named him great according to his dex entry saying he "doesnt react to or feel pain" or something. Trained him up with the others on the way through the Gym and beat all the trainers. Against Bugsy we did great and beat him first try as well.
The forest was a bit tricky for Slowpoke but all in all nothing major happened and we got out. The next route we caught Drowzee(I wanted to use Xatu before remembering it said Flying was banned outside of Crobat) and I had some trouble finding a name for her(I had too many good names for male but not female and caught her before seeing that). Went to Goldenrod after training against the trainers on both sides of town. Accidentally got Gina's number so now I have that to look forward to every few minutes. In other news I hate Whitney. I lost count of how many tries it took to beat her, but eventually Slowpoke did it, I nearly cried when he killed that Miltank with Water Gun or Tackle or whatever, Im just so proud.
Training more on the way to Ekruteak, and can I just say the quest to get the Squirtbottle may as well bethe longest and most complicated process of getting a Key Item? Go to the girl near the Sudowoodo(which is worse if you havent played in a while and went back to the flower shop first and went all the way back again...), go back to Goldenrod Flower Shop, talk to the little girl(longer if you accidentally talked to the older sister), make sure you have the Plainbadge(if not then go get it and come back), then talk to the older sister(again) and go back to Sudowoodo to use it. I always forget and I hate it almost as much as Whitney. Anyhow we got Eevee and its about time to go to the towers and fight Morty. Beat Morty on the second or third try, had to Sand Attack spam his Gengar but we won in the end. After setting his Gym on fire we continue our journey.
Realizing I forgot the Surf HM and tr Kimono girls, we went inside and Chrime evolved in the first battle. Then we went to find Jasmine and left for Cianwood, teaching Surf to Slowpoke. Trained the way there though Im sure we missed some of the trainers. That route seems easier in Crystal than in GS? Is that just me or? :/ Either way, fought Eusine up north of Cianwood to claim dominance and went back down to fight Chuck. ....We had to go all the way back to Olivevine for Strength... Taught Strength to Slowpoke(gee Fran your trainer lets you have two HMs?) and beat up Chuck on the first try out of Mafia anger. Afterwards we got Fly and I relearned a hard lesson about Golbat before going back and remeeting Jasmine. We went back down and finally beat her after the third try. I refound an old Gen II trick I forgot, if you use Twineedle on a Steel type you can still poison it. Good luck with this kiddies. :D But really I was super confused since I forgot. Almost as confused as that Magnemite I bet. Drowzee evolved and we went back to the PC and to pc.
Brought Z with us on the way to Mahogany because I saw Suicune and I dont believe Ive ever gone past that tree to see what happens there, but all it was was Suicune running away. I dont blame it bc of Eusine but that was pretty annoyinga nd pointless. :/ Put Z back and went to the Lake of Rage and beat the Red Gyarados using Golbat. We beat up those wimps Team Rocket in a manner that Silver would be proud of. Not that he was proud, he was jeally and trash talked me again but thats fine I dont expect more from him at this point. :/ Went back and healed before killing everything in the Mahogany Gym and in true PokeSpe-manner rage we murdered Pryce with only Slowpoke. Man I hate that piece of crap guy. Appearantly youre supposed to beat Team Rocket there AFTER you fight Mahogany Gym... Ive been doing this wrong forever... :'/
Cleared the Radio Tower and Department Store of Team Rocket like a Mafia Boss and got the Amulet Coin finally. Chrome evolved somewhere in there I believe.
Went through the Ice Path and found a Sneasel by surprise, I planned on using a Houndoom instead but I fidnt realize they were in here so I caugt her and now I wish I named her Lal Mirch instead but whatever. Trained her the rest of the way through the cave and intl Blackthorne. I had to sleep soon so I wanted Eevee to evolve before I went to sleep but dang he was stubborn and took forever to evolve, hence his grossly overleveled...level. Eevee and Slowpoke evokved out of it though. Beat Claire the next morning actually very easily when I was waiting for her to send out a Dragonite to use Sneasel but she never did. Went through the Dragons Den and accidentally said Tough Pokemon were most valuable(I meant to click B not A) so I guess we really are Mafia now. JOHTO YAKUZA
I wanted to take everyone through Victory Road but no one could learn Waterfall so I had to catch a Mantine and teach them Waterfall, Whirlpool, and Surf to get through Tohjo Falls. I think we mightve overleveled for the game but thats ok too. We managed to beat the Elite Four and Lance in one go after using all our Revives/Potions and made it into the Hall of Fame.
Spoiler: Kanto time
Climing aboard the SS Aqua it was time to beat up Kanto's Gyms as well. We immediately took down Surge with Beedrill and Crobat, everyone helped out but like half the team fainted cause we arent very good va Electric or Rock(Rollout) types. :/ Geodude used to be a pain but at least we got Slowbro and Sneasel to take care of that too.
Sabrina was a joke, I just wish I had been smarter and hadnt sent out my Poison types first. :/ I thought Beedrill could do it but one Psychic killed him, same with Crobat. I ened to be more careful with them. Does Sabrina just like stand there and say she saw you in a vision everytime she fights someone and then gets beat and is like 'well maybe it wasnt you' like?
Took me forever to figure out how to bring Misty back. In the mean time we beat Erika and Janine and continue to run around Kanto doing small tasks ans barely making it into Pewter City. Brock was fairly easy and Im becoming more and more impressed with Sneasel. <3 I did try to catch the Snorlax to get its Leftovers but ended up accidentally clicking 'Run' on fast forward so oh well.
Went to find Blue when he wasnt in his Gym, and got the TM for Dream Eater along the way to Pallet. Im sure Hypno would learn it sooner or later but eh why not? Continued through Pallet after going in each house("I sre you understand how to use pokeballs" really oak) and met Blue in Cinnabar. He seems really... Depressed? I was jokingly mad before but now im kinda sad that poor child let me hug him. We went to Blaine first since we were already so close and easily beat him before challenging Blue back in Viridian. Blue was somewhat harder as his team was like 50+?? But now weve got all 16 badges, were on our way there Red!
Made it up Mt Silver easier than usual? Mustve been partly due to teaching Umbreon Flash? We went straight up and managed to somehow overpower Red but we used quite a few Revives and Hyper Potions. It didnt seem as fun as when I normally fight him? Oh well, I guess that means Im stronger than usual this time. Afterward we spoke to Elm and Mom and fought Felix(/Silver) in Mt Moon. Gotta love that kid after his redemption arc stuff.(or his precious innoent child versionin pokespe.) Finally, done. :')
Final team:
Gokudera the Beedrill, Male, Level 50 (Amulet Coin)
Twineedle/Focus Energy/Harden/Fury Cutter
Chrome the Crobat, Female, Level 50
Fly/Wing Attack/Bite/Confuse Ray
Fran the Slowbro, Male, Level 50 (Quick Claw)
Curse/Strength/Confusion/Surf
((Mini)) Mosca the Hypno, Female, Level 51 (Focus Band)
Headbutt/Hypnosis/Dream Eater/Psychic
Tsuna the Umbreon, Male, Level 50
Bite/Shadow Ball/Flash/Headbutt
Oregano the Sneasel, Female, Level 50 (Nevermeltice)
Icy Wind/Slash/Screech/Faint Attack
Pc: Z the Totodile, B the Togepi, Mantine
Spoiler: Thoughts on the team:
Gokudera was fun to use at the beginning or when he had a type advantage, but like usual as an early game Pokemon he fell out of it somewhat. He was still amazing though and always pulled through(except for against the Psychic move... Hits hard).
Chrome is one of my favorite Pokemon that I live to use in Johto, so originally she was going to be taught Swift from the TM in Dark Tunnel or whatever like most of my Zubat. But she managed to learn Bite first and actually did very good on her own. She got weaker in her attacks later on but two hit kos are still very good. I was considering giving her Toxic over Bite in the end, while I didnt I think it wouldve helped more too.
Fran is a Pokemon Ive never gotten to use but liked. I have a Slowpoke in HGSS but I havent evolved her yet and well she isnt the strongest, But at some point Fran pulled ahead and hit everything as hard as possible. The mvp of the challenge honestly, I really loved using him. He was pretty much the backup of the team if things got hard, and the only Rock/Ground counter until Sneasel, and the only one who could even touch Steel types without fainting in one go.
Mosca was ok for a long time there, I wasnt really impressed in the beginning but Im not usually when it comes to Drowzee. However in Kanto she seemed to get better and hit harder as time went on, slowly but surely. She learned Psychic right before Red so that helped a lot as she took down maybe almost half of his team or something? Not able to take too many hits though, she was usually faster at least. Her Focus Band is what probably saved us from some of his Pokemon in the final battle.
Tsuna was great at first and could usually one or two hit ko things with ease. I hoped hed carry that on to evolution, but unfortunately not. His attacks became weaker and he would take a while to kill trained Pokemon sometimes, but his bulk was amazing too since now he could actually use Sand Attack/Flash and not immediately die. He did very good but annoyed me when he took forever to evolve. :/
Oregano worried me at first, I wanted Houndour ayway but I caught her since I thought Ice might be better than Fire this time, and Im so thankful I did. The only times Ive used Sneasel beforethey were fragile and weak, but she was so strong and amazing and fought so greatly. Her battling kept going uphill and she made it as second best I suppose since Fran was first? But she was amazing and I likes having the new type coverage there.
This has to be the fastest Ive ever played any Pokemon game tbh.
Department stores are exempt from this rule because lots of things in there are possibly too expensive for anyone's budget. But if you wanna challenge yourself then go ahead xD

Yeah theres no way I barely have enough Item space in my bag to buy the normal items let alone a department store of them. :'D And i may have the money now but back in Goldenrod first time around...sheesh please no...
Got Mudkip as my starter and continued on to train like heck, seeing as how for a minute he'll be my only Pokemon teammate. Quickly made it to Rustboro and kicked a couple Team Aqua grunts over in our excitement for adventure. The Gym didnt stand a chance and Mudkip demolished it in one go, evolving after Roxanne's battle.
Skipping a few trainers for the next Pokemon, we set off for Dewford with Mr Briney and immediately went to deliver the letter to Steven. Caught a Makuhita in the cave for our mandatory before delivering it, and went back to Petalburg to train on those few trainers we skipped. Brought them back afterward and finally hit the Gym. Took us a few tries but after some training in the cave(probably shouldnt have gone in with a level 16 & 19...) Makuhita soloed him and finally beat Brawly. I also hate Bulk Up on opponents now.
Hit up everywhere in Slateport and Mauville, leaving trainers around Mauville for training again. Got the Soft Sand from a little girl on the beach. Beat Brendan second time, and beat Wally with one move. Struggled a bit against Wattson despite such good type advantages. Makuhita managed to evole already in the Gym?? I didnt realize they evolve that early.
Traveled up and caught Numel in the Firey Path, trained her back around Mauville and the Winstons. Brought Rock Smash into Rusturf Tunnel and got Blackglasses which may be useful? Went further north and caught a Sandshrew and Skarmory. Sandshrew evolved during training. Stopped Team Aqua in Meteor Falls and heading up to the volcano right now to rematch Archie after his bs win, then going to Lavaridge for the Badge.
Hit the Gym, it was a little tough but everyone pulled through ok. We headed back to Rustboro to tell Mr Stone we delivered the letter then go fight Norman. The Gym battle itself was a little hard but we managed to beat him with one Pokemon not fainted. Wally's parents gave me Surf HM to get by on as thanks.
Went back to Mauville and helped Wattson with his Generator problem and caught Magnemite in Sea Mauville. Magnemite evolved during training shortly after leaving there. This is probably my least favorite part of Hoenn, we went through the long fields and into the Weather Institute FINALLY. Team Aqua got their butts kicked and driven off, and as thanks we recieved a Castform. I swapped out is Mystic Water and gave that to Marshtomp in exchange for his Soft Sand which went to Numel for now. We kept trekking and got Fly from Brendan and the Devon Scope from Steven. We finally made it to Winona's Gym and beat her in one try(more due to laziness and not wanting to go back there again).
Traveled through Mt Pyre and Lilycove with a newly evolved Numel, and back to Slateport as well when slwe taight Fly to Skarmory. Btw I love its name, Scar, Sky, Armory, so beautiful and perfect? But this is the first Ive used it. took down the Team Aqua Hideout with a "dang you to heck!" as we left the exploding Electrode behind. Headed to Mossdeep and lost the first time to the Gym but beat Tate and Liza the second try after evolving Marshtomp.
