  • UPDATE #2

    - Not much progress from last time. I delivered the letter to Steven inside Granite Cave. Immediately after, I went back to Rustborough to get the Exp. Share from Mr. Stone for delivering the letter to Steven. I came back to Dewford and Combusken (Capt. JACK) destroyed Brawly's Gym. I then got the Old Rod and left for Slateport. (note: I put the Exp. Share on Capt. JACK).

    - Upon arriving in Slateport, I took on everyone on the beach and in the Soda Shack. I went into Shipyard and talked to the guy who directed me to where Capt. Stern was. I went into the Museum, fought off Team Magma and delivered the package to Capt. Stern. I'm about to head off for Mauville City next.

Omg I had all my updates written down on notepad,
but my pc decided to reboot and obviously it never saves stuff that's in notepad o.O
    Damn you @#$% :(

I'll try to reconstruct a bit of what I did.
Firstly I decided to not evolve my Clefairy until it had Meteor Smash.
So I didn't evolve it until level 45.
Picked up Lapras as a next Team Member.
Bought Coins to get Flamethrower for RK9, since I did evolve him at lvl 31.
Caught a Tangela first chance I got.
That point in the Game everything went really smooth.
Even Blaine and Giovanni went down without any issues.
Victory Road was no issue at all.
But now I'm in front of the League, terribly underleveled (again lol)
And no one (except maybe Lapras) have their final movesets...

I had tons of stuff written down about how I countered corruption...
And I even caught Articuno because I happened to strand there by chance XD

    Spoiler:

    Edit:

Unfortunately I did reset the game as I wouldn't have been able to finish it anyway without a proper save type.
I got the problem fixed now, but I'll need to start all over again...
I suppose I will, but with an other team or even an other era.

  • I know the rules say no hacking, but I'm doing Jurassic Jam on an emulator in platinum, and for some reason whenever I try to enter the underground the game breaks, which means I can't get fossils. Should I hack in a (low level) Cranidos/Shieldon or play without them?

That's cause your average DS Emulator doesn't allow Wi-Fi, most likely o.o
I'll VM you with something that *might* help with your issue. if that doesn't work either, then you can pokesav the fossils

I have a question. I'm guessing that the era types are the ones you can use. But what's the difference between banned types and types that are simply not on the list? ( Sorry if this question seems stupid)

Also realized another thing. One of the rules says that you must use the required Pokemon of your region. But most ( If not all) of the required Pokemon knows surf. This is a problem because another rule says that only one of your Pokemon can have the ability to use surf. This makes it so you can't really use any other water type Pokemon as most of them learn surf.

I also have a question. In the Westward Expansion Era, pink Pokemon are banned. Would you be able to use a shiny Lickitung if you were lucky enough to find and capture one? It is a normal type and not in the fairy egg group, and its shiny form is yellow, not pink.

  • Update #3

    - I've made quite a lot of progress this time around. I took the Trick House Challenge and fought all the trainers between the Cycling Road (upper and lower levels), in Mauville City and en route to Verdanturf Town, I beat the Mauville City Gym, got Rock Smash and I managed to evolve my Combusken into a Blaziken.

    - Right now, I'm saved in front of the Winstrate House. I still have to go back and get Strength from the Rusturf Tunnel.

Well, if a Pokémon Type isn't on any of the lists, then you simply don't use it. But Dual Types that got 1 type on the Era Types list and one type not mentioned at all are allowed.

As for the Surf bit, that basically means that one of your Pokémon must know the move Surf. It's not related to the ability itself, but to the move. Meaning that only that Pokémon can have the move Surf as part of its moves throughout your game.

I also have a question. In the Westward Expansion Era, pink Pokemon are banned. Would you be able to use a shiny Lickitung if you were lucky enough to find and capture one? It is a normal type and not in the fairy egg group, and its shiny form is yellow, not pink.

Well, Lickitung's pretty Pink, no matter what color its Shiny version is, but if you happen to run into a Shiny one, I won't stop you from using it.

  • Update #4

    - I beat the Wintrates and fought my way up to the Fiery Path. I caught a Machop there (Quiet nature) that I named Mr. GIBBS after Jack Sparrow's first mate. I then went up to Fallarbor Town and took care of all of the Team Magma Stuff atop Mt. Chimney.

    - I taught Mr. GIBBS the TM Dig and I trained him up in both Flannery's Gym and Norman's Gym so he's a Machoke now.

    - I have 5 badges now so I headed back to Mauville City, headed to Route 118 where I got the Good Rod and then went up to Route 119 and caught a level 26 Tropius (COLUMBUS) and a level 26 Carvanha (SHARKCHOMP). They're a Naive and Hardy natures respectively.

    - I went back to Mauville City to Wattson out with the New Mauville situation and after that, I'll head back to Slateport and go the Abandoned Ship to get Ice Beam for the sixth Gym. Currently, I'm saved right in front of Wattson outside the Mauville Pokemon Center.

    My current team is:

  • Okay, so having finished my Stone Age Crystal and gotten past Week Hectic I'm basically definitely doing this again...

    Username: Waters_Echo
    Game: Emerald
    Era: Egypt

    BUT.
    I have questions.
1: The stance on PICKUP ability in relation to item rules?
2: Are... these rules based on Egypt stereotypes?
I mean, okay, I can give on the WATER type ban (even though basically every Egyptian city would have been located next to or near water (I mean, some of the most prominent animal associations are the hippo and crocodile, and the annual floods were MAJOR important)), but STEEL? The Egyptians had some really impressive metalwork going on, beautiful stuff. Why not grass or something?
(... And the fact that the pyramids were built with paid labor...)

(I think I need to stop and cease taking things so seriously)

    Also, an era suggestion:
    Bronze or Iron age.
Steel types, rock types, fire types, water types, maybe fighting, normal, dark or ground?
No flying, dragon, electric, or psychic types, perhaps?
An attack that makes things explode (have an animation that explodes, like flash cannon or self destruct)? A mandatory poison type attack? A cutting move?
Maybe you can only take berries from the field and you can only keep items you're given or that you've bought and you cannot use picked up items?
Torkoal the forge as a mandatory? Heatmor, macargo?

    Part 10

Well I chased Team Rocket away on the Sevii Islands.
All what's left now is to re-challenge the E4.
    So I'm just grinding really.
I decided I wouldn't go challenge it until
my Pokémon were at least lvl 65...
After only 2 tries I beat the E4 and my Rival
I can now proudly say I finished this Challenge :D
And really I think that's the first time I beat the entire game :O

I had a lot of fun with it too!

    Funniest moment:
Primeape stealing a Tinymushroom of a wild Paras
    Most frustrating moment:
Safari Zone / Catching wild Pokémon for dex entries

This was my final team, didn't change anything really...

Haunter lvl 69, Relaxed / Levitate
    Shadow Punch
    Giga Drain
    Shadow Ball
    Sludge Bomb

Charizard lvl 66, Adamant / Blaze
    Flamethrower
    Fly
    Rock Slide
    Metal Claw

Primeape lvl 68, Lonely / Vital Spirit
    Brick Break
    Thief
    Trash
    Thunderbolt

Raichu lvl 73, Careful / Static
    Thunderbolt
    Body Slam
    Rain Dance
    Thunder

Dugtrio lvl 65, Bashful / Arena Trap
    Earthquake
    Slash
    Rock Tomb
    Aerial Ace

Kingler lvl 66, Hardy / Hyper Cutter
    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Stomp
    Mud Shot
