Sorry if I posted it in the wrong section, but this news is really huge on YouTube right now:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/React_(media_franchise)#React_World

In summary, TheFineBros, a popular YouTube channel that makes videos based on X reacts to Y reaction videos, plans to license their React series, and faces tons of backlashes and many have unsubscribed from them, due to reports of them copyright claiming reaction videos and them trying to trademark the word "React".

    Thoughts?

I've been watching reaction videos about this news a few days ago. This is truly going to be the downfall of TheFineBros due to this shady practice. It's like how Sony tried to copyright "Let's Play" and King trying to copyright "Candy" and "Saga." TheFineBros may have popularized react videos, but they did not invented it. You can't copyright something that's within public domain.

It's definitely agreeable that what they did was pretty stupid. Their subscriber count is falling like Rome, and I think they've gotten the message. I'm curious to see how well their attempts to cover up their act will work. It's somewhat sad they let all that power get to their heads, they're legitimately nice guys.

They're still dropping subs and they're dropping from 14 million to 13.6 million even after that "apology" which seemed like PR written all over it.

At this point it would take years for them to build back their rep but I highly doubt it.
