There arereal world holidays in the Pokémon anime, but not many. We've had a literal Christmas special, with an actual Santa (only one to date), and I believe the Women's festival all the way back in Kanto. My question is, what events in the Pokémon anime would you like to see that are actual real events/holidays? Or do you prefer the show with all fictional holidays and events?

I believe there's at least one episode where it's Halloween, is that correct? A New Year's episode would be fun too, and maybe an Easter episode with a Ninoqueen or Ninoking Easter Bunny haha.

There is actually 1 episode that isn't a special that is Christmas with Ash, Misty and Brock. However, it was banned, but you can watch it in other places which I can't say.

    Holiday Hi-Jynx
    Christmas Night
    Stantler's Little Helpers
    Delibird's Dilemma

Are all apparently Christmas related. Another episode I strongly consider Christmasy is "Time-Warp Heals All Wounds" where May's Eevee hatches from an Egg. I think the Poke Company America also considers it Christmasy, as it was one of the Winter/Christmas playlists last year on Pokemon TV.

I would love to see a new Christmas Episode. It doesn't have to be exactly Christmas. They can handled it in a similar way as they did the newest Halloween episode that was obviously based on Halloween. I was hoping for a Christmas like episode in Snowbelle City, but that didn't come.

I also want a New Year Episode, where the group is watching Fireworks. I actually suggested this in another thread for the 20th Ann, where all the characters meet back up and celebrate New Year's for the anime 20th Ann.

Ooh, that would be a great episode for the 20th anniversary. Maybe since Ash is going to school when he graduates at the end of Alola we'll see all or at least some of his past companions and friends made come back for it.

There was going to be a New Year's episode during the Kanto saga, but it got shelved due to the hiatus caused by the Porygon episode.

I'd like to see more Halloween episodes. I think the only one we ever had so far was A Festival Trade! A Festival Farewell? in XY. Although, I consider any episode involving Ghost types and/or are set in a haunted house to be Halloween episodes. There's also a Pikachu short that only aired in Japan called Pikachu's Ghost Carnival.

I'd also like more Christmas episodes. We haven't had any since Johto even though they were Pikachu shorts.

New Year's would be fun! But I suppose that would mean acknowledging that Ash is aging, so I'm not sure how realistic that is. Other than that, Halloween would be fun.

That is true, although they have acknowledged him aging in the past. It doesn't necessarily have to be the New Years though. They could change it a bit so it is not the ending of the year. To me, Jirachi Wishmaker was extremely close to what I consider New Years. So they could handle it like that.

And I know Canda and America are the only ones who celebrate Thanksgiving, I would love to see something based on Thanksgiving.

The aging thing is odd, as Ash is still 10 in the Sun and Moon anime. I don't see why not change it. Realistically by 13 Ash could have gone through all those regions. It doesn't take a full year.

As for holidays, I'd say Wishmaker certainly had a New Years Feel to it. Other then that, it's hard to say if they actually celebrate any holidays in the current and recent seasons. It be neat to see their take on them.

Then again, there was the Pokemon Christmas album....

The Millennium Festival in Jirachi Wish Maker is actually based on the Tanabata Star Festival which takes place during the summer in Japan.

Now that I think about it, there have been a few instances where they celebrate Japanese holidays in the original series such as Princess vs Princess being set during Girls' Day and The Purrfect Hero being set during Children's Day.

Since Unova is based on New York, I'm surprised they didn't celebrate any American holidays such as Thanksgiving during BW.

Also, I just remembered the episode Under the Pledging Tree in XY and it kinda reminds me of Christmas because it involves putting gifts under a tree and the town was decorated with lights.

Same. It is kinda similar to Christmas. But not quite. Alola may also be considered American, so we might have some more chances at American Holidays. I strongly believe there may be something like Thanksgiving in this Sun/Moon Saga with there being so many character. But it probably won't be until next year or the year after. I am sure the series will last at least 3 years, but it really really depends how they handle this.

Speaking of Pokemon and Christmas, anyone else have the Pokemon Christmas Bash XD?
