This Is War

oopsy i edited that ill put the things in the ooc

Addison pushed past the loose and willowy door of the research facility with her forearm, looking past the fog that made the wrecked town just so much more eerie. Upon taking her first step forward, the lass realized how disgustingly cold it was without the sun's heat. The sudden change in environment was enough to lower even HER spirits. The new Tamer Balls attached to the loops of her belt were the cleanest thing on this girl's person; after receiving the distress call in Olivine City, everything just went dooownhill from there. Literally.

From pure instinct, Addie reached into her pocket, handling her slightly fractured PokeNav with care, only to realize there was no service anywhere around. She sighed, not realizing how technologically-dependent she was until this recent turn of events. Like a momento, she stuck it in her satchel and replaced it with the handheld. For safe keeping. "Good luck and be safe," called out the same man who had given her the neccessary tools for survival. But everyone knew those words didn't mean a thing when dealing with some of the roughest, toughest beasts around.

A thought ran through her head.

If it weren't for Pokemon, how would humans ever survive? We've been so entirely dependant on them for so long; they were our friends. They helped us, and in return, we provided them food and shelter. Our relationship was mutual. Is this what would happen if our bond was broken?

Addie shook her head, shaking away the haze hindering her thought and concentration. She'd need all of her wits if she were to survive in this wilderness. It took a moment, but with a bit of motivating thoughts and determination, the frown on the lass' face inverted back into her posed smile. Apparently the last of the few trainers who attended the world-changing conference, she took her first steps into Route 29. She'd past through on her way to the Town, although this trainer didn't take the time to observe her surroundings; you couldn't, when there were predators in the bushes waiting for you.

Cautiously, she treaded into the hostile territory, the sensation of the grass below her melting... odd. This wasn't normal. How could she miss all THIS on her way here? Addie spots the various footprints of those before her, unweathered; unatural. It was hard to shrug off, but she did it.

Then, suddenly, there was a rustling.

Alertly, Addison spun around, only to spot some plump, pink salamander a distance away from her feet. "Slowpoke?" She murmurs, questioning herself. How did he get here? Regardless, she remembered the words of the wiry scientist before- Capture the first Pokemon you see, no matter what. But it wasn't hostile, this Pokemon. It seemed depressed. "Mmmhm... it's good to know not everyone has lost hope, yet." Reaching at her waist, Addie slipped a Tamer Ball from one of the loops, clicking the front button to enlarge it. "Here's for you, Milotic." Taking the opprotunity of this ditracted Pokemon, Addison took a step forward and hurled the ball at the immobile Slowpoke. A beam of infrared light thundered from the ball's tip, shrouding the Pokemon in a crimson glow. In a matter of seconds, the Slowpoke was no more.

Now, it was waiting time. Addie always dreaded this moment, because if you were to fail in doing so, then the startled Pokemon would run off. But this was a changed world, and a different ball, unlike the Luxury Balls she was accustomed to. If Slowpoke broke out, then he would be lost forever. The stakes were much higher, here. With a clenched jaw and nervous tick, the trainer waited. It seemed like an eternity.

Ring.
Ring.
Ring.

CLICK.

Luck was on her side on this fateful day as she proceeded to her new Pokemon with a streak of accomplishment on her face. "Pokey," she called to the Pokemon, "I won't let you down." If you were there, you might have seen a ray of light beam onto the trainer's face, signalling her new journey, full of twists and turns. A new adventure. And this was all just the beginning.

Lass Caroline: Congrats on capturing Slowpoke successfully. I can assure you it won't be easy from here on out ;) Please tell me the gender and nature in the OOC.

(( OOC: Haha, thanks! Of course, I'm aware that having a Slowpoke as a partner will be... interesting, hehe. I mean, if it doesn't want to do anything wild, why would it want to do anything in battle? I apologize, this should probably be in the OOC thread. >< I editted the info into my last post, because I can't double-post. ))

~~~
Now reassured with the company of a Pokemon, Addison exhausted a heavy sigh of relief. She tossed the slightly-heavy prototype ball up and down in her hand, getting a good feel for it. Tapping her index finger to the button in the front, the mechanics in the device activated, sending forth the same ruby beam that captured the sloth. Before her lay the same Slowpoke which was, apparently, not phased by the capture in the slightest. Spreading a bright smile on her lips, Addie bent over to face the salamander, waving her hand.
"Hello!" she calls to her new partner, the slightest bit of nervousness in her voice. "I'm Addie." The Slowpoke's blank stare was unnerving, the poor critter slowly piecing things together. It didn't groan, nor grunt. No, it was just laying there and staring, with that odd looking half-smile on his face. "Are you okay?" Addie asked, slightly worried. She waved her arm left and right, checking to see if it was alive, and, surely enough, the his eyes followed. The trainer hadn't known too much about this specific Pokemon before entering Johto, and even then, it was folklore of how they created rain. She peered above, light barely escaping the cover of black clouds above; was a storm brewing? Or is the world really just coming to an end? Looking down at the dying grass and trees, Addie thought everything could really use a drink.
"Alright, Pokey, use Rain Dance!" The trainer called out, on an impulse. Pokey eventually reacted after at least ten seconds of thought, where he gently swayed his tail left and right. A gifted trainer could tell how a Pokemon felt or thought through its facial expressions, though this proved to be quite a challenge. Addie had no idea what Pokey lolled about, but she knew from this moment on raising her companion would be difficult. Remembering the device given by the wiry scientist, she reached into her pocket and retrieved the PDA-like device. She raised it up, flicking through some screens until finding the Pokemon Scanner application, which mimiced a Pokedex. Holding it up to Pokey, a mechanical voice read aloud,
"SLOWPOKE, THE DOPEY POKEMON. SLOWPOKE HAVE UNUSUAL TAILS WHICH DRIP A SWEET-TASTING SUBJECT. THIS SUBJECT IS ATTRACTIVE TO MANY SPECIES OF FISH, AND CAN BE USED AS A LURE. UNFORTUNATELY, SLOWPOKE ARE VERY STUPID, AND TEND TO FORGET WHAT THEY ARE DOING."
Addison blinked, proccessing the information. This would prove do be difficult. Her eyes darted back to the device, reading her Slowpoke's moveset- Curse, Tackle, and Yawn. The lass recalled the Curse move would slow the user, but increase their stamina and physical strength in exchange, and the Yawn move's magic could cause other Pokemon to fall asleep. These could prove quite useful. Just as she was about to keep scanning the document, a rapid scurrying noise drew her attention; the hazy image of a mouse a distance away running towards them. Addie shoves her fist, along with the device, back into the front pocket of her satchel, quickly assuming a defensive stance.
"It must have come from Cherrygrove!" She pointed at the approaching beast, wild with unmistakable thirst for human flesh. "Alright, you know what to do, Pokey! Use Yawn!" By the time the big pink idiot took to take in the information, turn around, and stare at the sky for an undescribed amount of time, it was too late, for the speeding Rattata lunged towards the Slowpoke's face. Thankfully, the meager rodent's strength was uneffective against the fat lump that was Addison's Pokemon.
Addie blinked slowly.
The wild Rattata bashed into the Slowpoke several times, each time doing a slight amount of damage, albeit it wasn't noticable to neither the trainer nor Pokemon. Pokey opened his tanned muzzle ajar, eyes shut as it was about to drift into sleep. A large pink bubble escaped from his mouth, drifting toward the purple rat, where it exploded with a satisfying pop. The young Rattata had absolutely no clue what happened, slightly confused before recontinuing bashing Pokey. His attempts were fruitless, as the rapid charging was dulled by his slight daze. A haze of yellow and green mist obscurred his vision. Before long, the rat fell in his tracks, nodding off into a dreamless sleep.
Addie was baffled by her partner's battling style, not sure as to what just happened. But, allowing everything to just go as they went, she reached for one of the miniature sized Tamer Balls held onto by one of the loops on her belt. After enlarging it, she muttered a few words of luck, hurling the ball at the sleeping rat. It bounced into the air, shooting forth the normal crimson light from its machinery, sucking the lulled Rattata in with no effort. Now was the deciding moment. The ball rocked back and forth gently.
Chapter 4: A Wicked Route 30
Post Number: 2
After having killed those groups of three Pokemon, you might spend some of your time exiting Cherrygrove City dwelling on that. You are most likely tired and rather hungry right now, and night is rapidly approaching on the horizon. You have heard the stories of going out after dark and know that it is not safe, but you cannot bring yourself to stay in the town any longer. So, without caring what might get you in the night, you leave Cherrygrove City and head out onto Route 30, unsurprised to find it looking just as decimated as Route 29.
You walk a ways and finally decide, now that the light is gone, that it would be a good time to hunker down somewhere. You might be unsure as to where this would be, however, because as soon as you stop you can hear crunching and shifting of the night Pokemon. This might make you uneasy, so possibly climbing a tree will be your best bet? In any case, however you spend your night you might want to expect it to get interrupted by one of the wild ones.
Nearly all of these Pokemon will be attracted to you because you are something they have never seen before, and possibly even because you're currently sleeping on their territory. They might be angry or cautious, but they will approach you and attack if they can. As for Bulbasaur, it will most likely only be attracted to you because of the glow of your fire. These Bulbasaur aren't (oddly enough) like the other night Pokemon. Generally they are timid and will flee if they notice you move, but occasionally a stubborn one will show up. For your purpose, however, it might be better to capture one of the easier ones. Choose your Pokemon wisely, always remember that.
The next day you will wake up with or without a new Pokemon, and pack up your "camp". You get moving, realizing that it would be best not to stay in one place for too long to give these wild Pokemon opportunities to attack you. As you are packing up, however, a stranger approaches you. He says his name is Stryker, and that he is supposed to test you.
Stryker has dark brown hair that is curly and slightly long. He has a shaggy look about him. His eyes are a curious light brown that borders amber, though something about the light (or so you think) makes it look like there is a blue edge around them. He wears cut off shorts that have holes and patches nearly all over the place. His shoes are old and worn, and through them you can see his sockless feet. His shirt is a cut off tank top, and he has a brown pack slung over his shoulder. There are six Pokeballs across the strap of his bag, though you cannot be sure they are each filled with a Pokemon. In any case, he grabs one of them and tosses it out. It's time to battle.
Opponent: Stryker
You will win this battle, but only just. His Quilava is probably the toughest opponent, and will show his strength in the form of his fire attacks. Spinarak is good at annoying, what with the poison and the string shots. Koffing is new, and Stryker isn't as experienced with her as the other two, but she's still tough enough as it is. This battle most likely should be a close one, so make sure not to make it a landslide. After you beat him, Stryker will give you three potions and then leave.
Zypher stood up to his feet slowly making sure he would not become light headed or pass out again. He then looked back to the girl standing in front him holding onto Chance, feeding him. With her being there his smile once again showed on his face, he hadn't seen her in over a year and he wasn't sure if she had died.
"Sly how did you find me?!" Zypher asked walking over to her and Chance who quickly sprung from Sly's grip and into the arms of his trainer.
"PI!" Chance cried out happily licking the side of his face, Sly just smiled back at him.
"Glad to see your alright Chance thanks for protecting me" Zypher said patting Chance on the head.
"Your welcome" Sly said smugly.
"Welcome for what?" Zypher asked back.
"Saving your's and Chance's life, then healing him that's what!" Sly shouted back with a grin, the two of them had always tried to one up each other.
"Oh for that, ha... well I mean I would have found a way out of it" Zypher replied back getting closer to her face.
"Really? Because from where I was standing you were passed out on the ground out cold buddy" Sly said as the two of there faces were about an inch apart now.
"Please, I always have a plan.. where there's a will theres a way!" Zypher said laughing realizing he sounded like a corny movie protagnoist.
"That's lame Zypher, but why did you pass out" She said putting on a serious face and backing away. Zypher looked down to the ground, he didn't want to get her or Chance worried about him, not yet right now he had a mission to take care of.
"Oh well you know I ate a light meal" he replied sarcastically before laughing.
"Funny!!" Sly shouted punching him in the arm.
"Hey now watch it, or i'll sick Chance here on you!" Zypher shouted back as Chance just smiled.
"Pi pi" he said pointing to the big hole in the wall caused by the bagon earlier.
"Your right Chance we should probably get moving before other pokemon sense the smell and make there way here" Zypher said before noticing the gun on Sly's belt and the dead ratata on the floor. He then began to remeber killing the Bagon but it didn't bother him right now, he had more pressing matters... But at the moment all that he cared about was his reunion with Sly.
"You know Zypher it's going to be getting dark soon... are you sure we should leave just yet, maybe we should wait till morning?" Sly said with a concerned look.
"Aw is poor Sly afraid of the boogie man?" Zypher replied jokingly.
"You realize that comment is going to cause you physical pain soon, but fine i'll be the one protecting your butt when you pass out again" Sly said as the three of them began heading north to route 30. The truth was Zypher couldn't stand the sight of the dead pokemon there, especially since it was his fault.
Route 30 was nothing short of terrible, but Zypher was used to it now because of everything else he had seen since this journey started. The three of them walked for what seemed like almost a four hours before the sun began to set.
"Ok seriously Zypher let's make camp or something it's getting dark" Sly said stopping in her tracks.
"I don't believe it, your actually afraid of the dark!" Zypher said laughing at her.
"So what! There's nothing good that can come from darkness, it's evil!" Sly shouted getting ready to tackle the laughing Zypher to the ground.
"It's only evil if you let it be Sly, right Chance!" Zypher exclaimed as Chance began nodding his head.
"PI! Pi chu!" he shouted in agreement jumping to the ground from Zypher's shoulder.
"Hmph, what makes you two so confident!?" Sly asked angrily at there cockyness.
"We've got each other to watch our backs... Plus you know me Sly even at the darkest times the littlest bit of light can give you hope.. that's whats keeping going... hope" Zypher replied with that bright smile on his face.
"I never looked at it that way before.. but your right, I still think for our safety tonight we should make camp, maybe up in a tree?" Sly asked curiously wondering around looking for a big tree to make camp.
"Actually we'd be safer on the ground with a fire in my opinon, we can take shifts every half hour to watch each other while they sleep" Zypher before telling Chance and Sly to start looking for firewood.
Within a half hour the fire was made and there sleeping bags were rolled out right next to each others. Chance was laying all nice and cuddled up with Sly who was still awake chatting with Zypher about the old days. They talked for an hour or so about everything that happened on there original journeys, and then what happened with there old teams. When finally this question came up:
"Do you think our lives would be different if Beo was still alive?" Sly asked laying back looking up at the stars. The smile on Zypher's face was immediatly wiped from it.
"I'm not sure, but to be honest I sometimes feel like this wasn't what our lives were meant to be, like somewhere out there in the universe is a parralle world where Beo is still alive and things are much different, and the world is peacful not in distress... God I miss him" Zypher said as a tear rolled from his eye.
"I know what you mean... there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him... but I guess everything happens for a reason" Sly replied as she turned to Zypher and looked at him, she could tell something was bothering him deep inside.
"Anyways i'm glad your here Sly.... I missed you.. you saved my life today and kept Chance out of danger" Zypher said turning to face her as well.. The two of them began staring into each others eyes, and you could see just how close they really were.
"Your welcome Zypher, anything for you..." She said as the two of them began leaning in as if they were about to kiss.
crunch
"What was that!" Sly whispered backing away from what was certainly going to be there first kiss.
"Oh i'm sure it was nothing, nothing at all now where were we" Zypher said annoyed trying to avert her attention back to him but she had already pulled her gun out from her sleeping bag.
"Not now Zypher! Get your sleep i'll keep first watch" She said holding the gun close to her face. And with that Zypher crawled into his sleeping bag and began drifting off to sleep.
crunch
"Huh?" Zypher said waking up rubbing his eyes and looking over at Sly's bag to see she was gone and Chance sound asleep. He quickly scanned the entire area not seeing any sign of his friend.
"Sly..." Zypher whispered trying not to wake Chance or startle any wild pokemon, when suddenly he heard another crackle of a leaf, this time it woke Chance up.
"Pi?" Chance asked tiredly, looking over to Zypher who looked back only to be surprised and upset at the sight behind Chance.
"No way..." Zypher thought to himself as crouching behind Chance was a bulbasuar who was sniffing around for something, not realizing the two of them were now awake. That wasn't what upset him though, what upset him was the memories it brought back...
"Bulbasaur..." Zypher whispered to as he began remebering his starter pokemon from Kanto, who became his best friend until the day this whole thing began and it turned on him.
"Pi?" Chance whispered trying to get Zyphers attention before seeing the bulbasaur himself and getting ready to attack.
"Wait Chance don't... I want to take this sight in for a few moments more... Plus this pokemon doesn't seem as vicsious as the others... Bulbasuars are much more timid at nature" he said as he reached into his bag and pulled out a small garonola bar, he slowly broke off a piece and swiftly moved out of his sleeping bag.
"Bulb???" the bulbasuar roared sensing the change in movement around him before noticing Zypher who was closing in. It then began to take off into the bushes.
"No wait... i've got food, come on out little guy, I won't hurt you.. I just want to be your friend" Zypher said getting to all fours and slowly approaching the bushes. Chance became oddly confused at his trainers behavior and had no idea why he was acting like this.
"Pi pi chu!" he shouted trying to get Zypher to stop acting like an idiot and come back to where it was safe.
"Bulbasaur please come out, I promise I won't hurt you" Zypher whispered with a last try at it.. He didn't want to give up on this bulbasaur, not after losing his starter.... Suddenly two vines rushed out of the bushes slashing Zypher across the face causing two gashes in both cheeks.
"PI!!!" Chance shouted jumping to his trainers side and blasting a thundershock into the bushes.
"Bulb! Bluba!" the bulbasuar shouted jumping out from another bush, he then sprayed several seeds at Chance landing on him directly and causing small plants to sprout.
"Chance!!" Zypher shouted standing quickly to his feet, he had to let his past quite affecting the present.
"Pi!" Chance shouted as energy began to get sucked from his body and transferd to the bulbasuars.
"Chance use sweet kiss!" Zypher shouted as chance put on a cute look and blew kiss to the bulbasuar, hopefully this bulbasuar was a female... oh how Zypher hoped it was a female.
"Bulb??" the bulbasuar looked around for a moment, then a confused look came over it and it started slashing itself with it's own vines.
"It worked Chance!" Zypher shouted in surprise. "Now use thundershock!"
Chance began to focus on the bubasuar as electricty began flowing into his body before finally exerting it out in a blast hitting the confused bulbasuar directly causing it to lean forward on it's front legs and grimace in pain.
"Bulb!!" Bulbasuar growled as Chance flinced at the sound, the Bulbasuar then charged straight at Chance leaping into the air getting ready to tackle Chance.
"Chance dodge it and use another thundershock!" he ordered as Chance was about to dodge the attack but his energy had been worn down from the leech seed causing him to be weaker and slower.
"PI!!!!" Chance shouted in pain as Bulbasuar tackled him into the ground and then began to wail on him with several vine whips.
"Chance!" Zypher shouted, not sure what to do... his best friend and only pokemon was being held to the ground by one that reminded him of his old starter... he then found a stick laying on the ground and picked it up. Suddenly his mind flashed back to the Cherrygrove pokemon center when he lost full control of his body and couldn't stop beating those bagon.. those poor confused bagon...
"PI PI!!" Chance shouted in agony as Zypher looked up, this time with a more focused look.
"Time to stop living in the past!!!" Zypher shouted as he charged at the Bulbasaur who was caught by surprise and was flung off of Chance with the stick's force being swept underneath him.
"NOW CHANCE THUNDERSHOCK!!!" he shouted as Chance jumped into the air and blasted a bolt of electircity at the stunned Bulbasuar hitting it directly causing it to fall unconsicious....
"Pi!" Chance cheered running to Zypher who began searching in his bag for another tamer ball, hoping that the guy from the lab was smart enough to place more then one in it.
"There's gotta be another one in here, I can't just let it get away!" Zypher shouted finally finding one at the bottom of his bag as everything else lay spread out around him on the grass. "Your mine bulbasuar!" he shouted throwing the tamer ball at the unconcsious pokemon hitting it on the top of the bulb and sucking it inside.
It was now or never, if he didn't catch it then it would be gone for good... if he did catch it then he would have another memory of the past.... did he really want that?
The ball began to roll back and forth on the ground as Zypher and Chance watched it, when suddenly he remebered something....
"Wait what happened to Sly?!?!?! he said realizing he hadn't seen her since falling asleep....
Sacred Beo: Aw shucks, moment interrupted XD Congrats, Chance grew to level 14! Zypher managed to capture a level 11 Bulbasaur! (Don't forget to tell me gender/nature in OOC)
Sorry for shortage in posts I keep writing them but being forced off the computer also because The one chapter is posted before I joined I decided I'd just make my character run away. It would be longer if I had a battle~ Dave
David walked down his poliwag on his shoulder scouting the area. They had decided to take route twenty nine because of the dangers at the other route. David watched two rattata fight while a dead one lay near. David felt a tear trickle down his face, but he got too caught up in his emotions and tripped. As poliwag fell over and sputtered out water from its mouth, the two rattata stopped and swarmed David biting a chunk of skin out of his calf "poliwag use….ugh…bubble" he moaned. Poliwag dashed in and blew a bubble so strong David though it might just turn into a watergun CRACK! The rattata flew fifteen feet and nailed a tree.
David had gotten used to the pain in his leg and learned to ignore it as with his poliwags feistiness. While he was walking a seedot attacked but he dodged its tackle and moved along. When he finally reached Cherrygrove he dropped to his knees and almost started balling. He watched an old man fork out the gut of a rattata and David threw up right there. A piece of paper landed on his face and he grabbed it, it said-
STARVING PEOPLE BEGIN TO KILL AND EAT POKEMON!!
Just two days after the Pokemon destroyed the extra food supplies, people began to starve. It is
apparent that they were counting on this food to survive, and now they are resorted to very
drastic measures in order to live. There have been numerous reports of starving parents (in
dire moments of desperateness) killing their once favorite Pokemon and serving them as dinner,
if only to feed their starving children. The wild Pokemon have found out, and will soon begin to
do more damage to this world. Already they have started gathering more tamed Pokemon on
their side. Their numbers increase continually, while ours die off because of starvation and
sickness.
People are also reporting strange things occurring when they are bitten by a "savage" Pokemon.
The bites are slowly becoming infected, no matter what medicine you are injected with. The signs
of an infected bite include but are not limited to:
-Bloodshot eyes
-Fever
-Swelling around area of the bite
-Intense stomach pains and headaches
-Death
The doctors are now saying if you begin to experience these symptoms you must go to a hospital
immediately. They are trying to find a cure, and their efforts will hopefully be rewarded soon.
We fear our entire population shall die out, and if we don't do anything it shall.
David threw the paper down and spit on it "horrible" he muttered in anger
David walked into the broken down pokemon center and looked at the disgusting rotted bodies of patients, he also noticed pokemon feeding on them he immediately ran out and picked up a unused tamer ball from the ground.
kk I wanted to catch up in chapters so i rushed it somewhat
