Leaks, would be my guess. Look at what happened with X and Y. OR there is a distinct possibility these will tie in to the NX in some fashion, so Nintendo feel the need to keep details under wraps.

I just want to know whether this will be a new generation or a continuation of the old. Let me know WHAT I can expect. Maybe a CGI trailer with a couple of bits of in-game footage. 90 seconds. Not even that. It's not too much to ask, is it?

They did a similar thing with ORAS when they revealed as little footage as possible, it kinda prolongs the hype for when they follow up with a trailer a few days later I suppose. I would have preferred some sort of trailer in the direct, but at least we got the reveal and logos which is good enough for me.

We did get to see some concept art, didn't we?

I expect now the games have had their initial announcements we'll get a slow torrent of information coming through.

I'm anticipating more information about them "soon", but it is disappointing that all we really got was confirmation of a leak and nothing else.

Perhaps they're trying to stagger less information over the course of a few months?

For X/Y we knew a LOT prior to the games release (we knew a majority of new pokemon before the game launched)

My guess is because of how huge it is. It seems to be built as massive fan service and as "the game" for the 20th anniversary. If I had to guess, there are a lot of surprises in store and they want to keep it low. The concept art backs this up, as it shows the world is much more diverse and all the different cars lead me to believe this region will be pretty big.

We also have new pokemon as evidenced by the woodpecker who is probably the regional bird.
