Too old for Pokemon?

Well that's what I've been hearing from people around me......probably why some friendships didn't last. Tough for them I've always liked it and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Anyways I got hooked on Pokemon when I saw the first anime episode and it went from there. Like many others I'm sure, Charmander and it's evolutions (mostly Charizard) became my favorites. I was so excited when I opened my first booster pack and both Charmander & Charizard where in there ^_^

As for the games, FireRed was my first and I loved the concept of battling with and against other Pokemon and of course catching/training them. The last few months I've been mostly lurking but with X & Y around the corner I think I needed to connect with people who are just as excited and put myself out there :)

FR/LG are such great games to start with, they're extremely addicting and the addition of the VS Seeker made training your Pokemon to lv. 100 much more fun. You're absolutely never too old for Pokemon. :) I'm 22 and have loved it since I was 8. Am pretty sure my love for it will last forever! You just have to belieeeeve! Welcome to PC, Fiza~

You got a Charizard in a booster? :O Lucky you; I don't think I've ever actually gotten one of those. They were really wanted back then and apparently still are if they're in good condition. I've heard stories of mint-condition holo Charizards selling for around $10,000.. crazy, isn't it?

Anyways, I'll try not to ramble too much so have a lovely time here on the forum! Contact me whenever if you need any help at all or are looking for someone to show you the ropes.

I was like you, I had friends who used to tell me that playing Pokemon was for kids and that I should act more grown-up. The best thing about Pokemon is that, anyone can pick the game up and enjoy it. Its one of those games, like Mario, that no matter how old you are, its always targeted to a wide audience for everyone to enjoy. Now with that being said, I welcome you to the forums, Fiza! Don't let anyone get you down, try and enjoy what you love the most.

I loved the gameboy games too! FireRed was cool because we could see a classic Pokemon game in better quality. There's a section in the forums called Advanced Generation Gaming, here you can talk about the games that came to the gameboy advance, such as Pokemon Saphire, Ruby and FireRed. About the X and Y games coming out recently, what are your thoughts on them? There's been a lot of leaked pics lately and it seems the game is getting more hyped than what it has been. I personally love seeing more to a game, this makes me want the game even more, all tho there are some people who prefer to stay oblivious to it and discover things for themselves. Do you like the new starters that are now? What are your thoughts on them? I'm going to choose Chespin, because I love its desgin, and looks like a cheerful Pokemon! Anyway if you want to check on all the discussion on the new generation, make sure to check out the Current Generation Pokemon Gaming.

Enjoy your stay on the forums! :)

Thank you for the warm welcome! when/if I need help I'll know who to turn to.

If I remember correctly I had the card next to my bed when I first got it :D Right now it has more sentimental value than anything to me. Oh and I believe.....just have to find the right people in RL who believe as well ;)

I'm 21, and I love Pokémon games and Anime.
Over here, only the ones between 9 and 17 year olds say Nintendo games are 'childish', and games like COD, BF4, GTA, etc. are 'the only real games'.
The fun fact is, anyone over 18 years love Nintendo, and don't even want to touch those 'real games' at all.

    "Well, it's different with girls".
You think so? It's actually the same as with boys.
While my little sister and her classmates (male and female) play GTA V and Call of Duty: Black Ops II on her PlayStation 3, me and my colleagues (also male and female) rather stick with Nintendo, and if not, with something innovative.

As I'm observing it, this difference is a matter of age, not a matter of gender or the X-Factor of a game.

To be honest, most of the personal feedback I've gotten was positive. One day at school, I had to take my End-Of-Course exams, but there was a lot of wait time. I decided to bring my Game Boy Advance SP and Pokemon Red. When I was playing it, I noticed some of both stoners and jocks coming by my desk. I at first thought "oh crap, here it comes" but then, they got really excited. They asked to see my team, started talking about which one was the coolest, and discussed some old memories. Perhaps that's the beautiful thing about Pokemon. It can appeal to people from all walks of life from around the world.

Thank you Negix :) I'm quite a introvert so I think I've always seemed weird to most, then knowing I like anime & games (with Pokemon being my main "obsession") kinda sealed my fate. But glad I found out sooner than later right.

I look forward to discover the new Pokemon and the mega evolutions, but what I'm really curious about are the new features too. They seem to have gone out of their way to bring the game to a new level and we can finally customize our avatar. I was trying not to look at the leaked pics and trailers too much....makes me impatient....but I couldn't help myself.

My first thought was to choose Fennekin as my starter but I don't really like the design of the second evolution. Who knows how it's final evolution will look like, just hope it won't gain the fighting type. But I agree Chespin is cool and looks very happy, it would make a lovely choice too.

I'll be sure to check out the Current Generation Pokemon Gaming section. Thank you again for the warm welcome!

I'm beginning to think I live in the wrong town......with the wrong kind of people...

Atleast I can find like minded people here:)

Allow me to point you to this.

Honestly, you're never too old for Pokemon, or anything that you think is fun. I do know a lot of people who were "closeted" on their love of "childish" things like that and came out during college or later. I have to say that's a really lucky pull for your first booster. Charizard cards tend to be coveted, even if some of them aren't so useful. If you're into the TCG, I'm an avid player myself and would be happy to talk to you about that. We also have a Pokemon Trading Card Game forum in the Alternative Pokemon Discussions section. :7:

Anyway, allow me to welcome you to PokeCommunity! Be careful, the name has a double meaning and we do like to poke people. :7: If you have any questions, want a friend, or someone to chat with, feel free to drop me a message. I don't bite unless I'm hungry.

I'd be happy to try to teach you if you wanted. The Pokemon Trading Card Game Online (TCGO) is an excellent resource for learning and playing the game. It starts you off with a nice amount of cards (sadly nothing amazing, but not terrible) so you can experiment a little before you're committed to spending any real money (the game is free to play). As for the poking and biting, you'll get used to it. :7: Trust me on this. xD

Cool I'll go check it out. Maybe I'm mistaken but my brothers might have made an account in my name somewhere this year, well only one way to find out. I'd love for you to teach me the ropes ^^

Have you been poked & bitten or are you the one doing the poking & biting? Need some warnings so I can protect myself o_O

Hm... I'd say it's a little of both. xD

Alright. Just let me know what your username is and I'll be happy to show you the ropes. :3 They've also got tons of tutorials to help you get started as well. You should be able to get another account easily if your brothers did use your name (and they might even be able to merge them for you.) You'll just need an email that's never been registered with them.

Pffft. Whoever's too old for Pokemon's a froob. Because that isn't possible. Welcome to PokeCommunity! I'm still in that... err, teenage age and I don't really think it's possible to be too old for Pokemon. 'Cause I'll probably still be playing it when I'm 25. :)

I'm 18 and I've been playing since I was 7.. I THOUGHT I was too old for it in grade 7, so I quit. Started playing it again in grade 10 because well.. I'm never too old.
I'm actually pretty sure I made a picture about this and posted it on Reddit say, 3 years back.

    Oh yeah, I found it.

Like everyone else said, you're never too old for Pokemon. If you enjoy something, then who cares how old you are.
I stopped playing for awhile in my late teenage years but realized that it doesn't matter how old you are, just have fun!

    I know the feels. Even though my girlfriend likes my drawings she gets all silent when I mention pokemon or show pokemon artworks to her. She's got that "you're still hung up on pokemon even though you're 24?" look. Well whatever, I'm gonna marry her sooner or later then we'll have kids, then I'll get my kids hooked to pokemon too just to spite her. {XD}
