Top 10 most favorite Metal bands?

This.

1. Pantera
2. Slayer
3. Machine Head
4. Mastodon
5. DevilDriver
6. Lamb Of God
7. Parkway Drive
8. 36 Crazyfists
9. No Consequence
10. Rammstein

I can't believe some of these haven't been mentioned.
How has no one listed Machine Head?

Also, come on. Some of these being listed as 'Metal' makes me cringe. You want to list them as 'New Metal' aka, hardcore emo.

Dragonforce? 3 Days Grace? In Flames?

Seriously, come on.

Amazing man, Machine Head is good as. And I agree, some of this stuff makes me embarrassed... BMTH? Erghh, sorry. save that stuff for MySpace guys.

1) Burzum
2) Godflesh
3) Slayer
4) OLD Fear Factory
5) Possessed
6) Mayhem
7) Pantera
8) Cryptopsy
9) Obituary
10) Death

This is what I can remember off the top of my head, and it may change as I remember more of them:

1. Hammerfall - Basically everything they've made is quality. Even their covers. And their live albums are very good.
2. Rammstein - Amazing industrial sound overall.
5. Blind Guardian - Been good for a long time.
4. Edguy - Okay, so maybe I have a German metal fetish. :P
5. AC/DC - One of the first metal bands.
6. Black Sabbath - Another of the first metal bands.
7. Dragonforce - I like the power their tracks have, and the lyrics fit a Dungeons and Dragons campaign quite well, if you actually listen to them in their entirety. Also, I'm pretty sure most of you just hate them because you subconsciously dislike that they rode to popularity through what you probably think was an overrated video game series, or because they use multiple recordings to record their guitar solos. NEWS FLASH: Pretty much every metal band does this for all of their tracks, though not necessarily on the guitar solo.

No Metallica because I have fewer "must-have" faves of theirs, and I think that there may be a couple groups I like more that I'm forgetting.

My favorite metal bands? How about the only metal bands I've ever heard of? >_<'

Well, I don't hate them how they gained their success, I hate them because they are a horrid band, IMO.

And so what? There have to be multiple recordings for some bands, but at least they can then go and actually play it live on stage, unlike Dragonforce, who can't string together their solos without missing notes.

They are the ONLY band, out of all the gigs I have gone too, that miss notes in their OWN SONGS. Believe me, I have been to a lot of gigs.

According to last Fm, that list would be the following:

1. Amon Amarth
2. Immortal
3. Kalmah
4. Dimmu Borgir
5. Behemoth
6. Emperor
7. Anorexia Nervosa
8. Vader
9. Limbonic Art
10. Dissection

Of course, that's not quite correct. I'm not really into DB (except FAT, which is amazing, and some of ETD) anymore, and I have no idea where I got so many Behemoth plays from. Limbonic Art (by the way, I still haven't listened to Phantasmagoria yet...) is WAY to far near the bottom of that list, they're currently 3rd or 4th.
Ok, so I'll put Dimmu a quite a bit down and Behmoth out of this, adding Candlemass instead.
That would mean:

1. Amon Amarth
2. Immortal
3. Limbonic Art
4. Kalmah
5. Emperor
6. Vader
7. Dissection
8. Candlemass
9. Anorexia Nervosa
10. Dimmu Borgir

Runners up include Kreator, Dark Tranquillity, Carcass, Einherjer, Summoning and Sear Bliss.

revive post, omg.

No order:
- Strapping Young Lad
- Meshuggah
- Testament
- Death
- Bolt Thrower
- Neurosis
- Sunn O)))
- Deicide
- Autopsy
- Lamb of God

I really wanted to list like.... 100 more. There's just so many.
lol @ Three Days Grace and AC/DC

Don't really listen to much metal these days, so can only name a few:

- Between The Buried And Me
- Protest The Hero
- Deftones
- System of a Down
- Metallica
- Pantera

A few years back I used to listen to stuff like Avenged Sevenfold, Machine Head, Shadows Fall, Anthrax, Disturbed, Godsmack. Grown out of it a bit though I suppose..

OTEP!!! Kittie, [old] Korn [Everything before, and including, the UNTOUCHABLES album], System of a down, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Chiodos [if it can even be considered metal. maybe like emo/metal], and idk . i'm at a blank.
