Log #02: Student of Sinnoh - A full team!

- Battled Team Galactic in Jubilife City with Lucas, and won.

Observation #007: Stanley
When we reached Ravaged Path, there were rocks blocking our way. No matter how hard he tried, Stanley could not move them or break them. We needed the help of another Pokemon here, so we took Piplup out of the box and switch trained him until he was a Prinplup, so that we could teach him Rock Smash.

- Got through Ravaged Path

- I was challenged to quite a few double battles this time around, so on a number of occasions Prinplup had to fill in for my missing team members, who were either not obtained yet, or, later on, fainted.

- Reached Floaroma Town and picked up the Sprayduck from the flower shop.

- Battled Mars at Valley Windworks and won.

- Guided Cheryl through Eterna Forest.

- Reached Eterna City.

- Battled Gardenia and won.

Observation #008: Stanley
During the gym battle with Gardenia, Stanley levelled up to level 30, quite a high level compared to how many gym badges I currently have. After I had won the battle, Stanley evolved into Luxray!

Summary #1
Stanley: Despite being frail at first, Stanley has really overcome his previous weakness. Still, I am not sure whether this is due to practise (battling more Pokemon) or due to the growing bond with his trainer. He is currently the only Pokemon on my team (besides Prinplup, of course.) I wonder if he feels lonely without any Pokemon friends. I don't know. Maybe human company is enough for him.

- Battled Jupiter at Eterna City and won.

- Received Cynthia's egg (with Togepi inside!)

- Caught my second team member on Route 208, Sigmund the Ralts. He is named after Sigmund Freud, the (slightly weird) Father of Psychology.

- Reached Hearthome City

Observation #009: Stanley
As soon as I entered the darkened part of Hearthome Gym, Stanley insisted on going first in all of his battles, even though I wanted to train up Sigmund.

- Battled Fantina and won.

- Battled Tim on the way out of Hearthome City and won.

#Observation #010: Sigmund
I tried to train Sigmund in the battle against Tim, but he did not take damage from Tim's Staravia very well at all. I had to send Stanley in instead to defeat Tim.

#Observation #011: Sigmund
Sigmund struggles against even the wild Pokemon on this route, especially the Bibarel with Rollout. He fainted a couple of times - once against a Pokemon Breeder's Eevee, and again in a double battle. Despite not being able to hold his own in battle yet, he managed to gain enough strength to evolve into Kirlia.

- Cynthia's egg hatched into Togepi, my third and final team member. I named him after Phineas Gage, a famous case of brain injury to the frontal lobe.

Sorry for the late update guys. The world of work is taking its toll. I rarely have the time to play the game, let alone update. I've found some now, so........ HERE WE GO!!!

The Doyen of Vets

Upon a short rest (and some needed training in and around the Vermillion area) I boarded the SS Anne. I fought my way up through the vessel until I made it to the Captain's door. Then, only that arrogant brat, Gary Oak, stood in my way. I dispatched him without even breaking a sweat. Shortly after going back to heal my Pokemon, I met with the Captain and obtained the HM Cut (I had a Bulbasaur as my "starter" so I used him for Cut). Afterwards, I entered the Vermillion Gym and caught up with my old friend, Lt. Surge. Surge wasn't what you would call the sharpest tool in the shed. He was always better at breaking bones than breaking codes. I guess that was why he used Electric types (they compensated for his shortcomings in a manner of speaking). He more likely used them because, as he would put it, he likes to make things go BOOM. What else would you expect from the top Explosives Expert in the service. Nevertheless, he was always good for a laugh and you knew he always had your back. As you would think, Surge proved to be as tough as a brick wall, however, brick walls can break. Growlithe and Skarmory saw to most of his Pokemon. His Raichu though, I needed my Dratini to finish the job. It's reward was an evolution into Dragonair.

After a brief stop at the Pokemon Center, I made my way back through the Underground Tunnel Back to Cerulean. There, I picked up my Bike for the future Cycling Road and fought my way up to the Rock Tunnel. I went through blind, of course (no Flash) but I made it through all the same. I made a quick stop through Lavender Town and in particular, the Pokemon House. There, I spoke with a girl who said that Mr. Fuji, an old scientist I knew from war time and who ran the place, was assaulted and captured by Team Rocket when he went to confront them about the murder of a Marowak. Apparently, they killed her whilst she was trying to protect her son, an infant Cubone, from their cruelty. In any case,they held him in Pokemon Tower and I needed a device called a Silph Scope to reveal the ghosts hidden in the Tower. The road through to Saffron City, the location of Silph Co. HQ, was, unfortunately, blocked off. However, if Team Rocket made it to the top floor of the Pokemon Tower unscathed, then surely they would have access to these said Silph Scopes. Word on the street is that Team Rocket run Celadon City and have a major base in the basement of the Celadon Game Corner. Since Giovanni was last sighted there, I figured that Celedon City was my best bet to obtain that Silph Scope.

I pushed through to Celadon City. I picked up some Tea from a lonely Old Lady. I bought a Fire Stone for my Growlithe to use at a later date to be determined. I explored the city, spoke to the locals to confirm the rumors and made my way to the Game Corner. I got confirmation that Team Rocket ran this joint; using it as a front for their criminal enterprise in this city. I found the passage to their secret base and fought every last pathetic grunt who stood in my way. These punks aren't like any other henchmen I've faced before. During the war, I fought a lot of misguided fools who thought all of the mayhem the caused was towards some greater good. Team Rocket's members know they're the bad guys. They know the gravity of the chaos they cause. Most of all though, they know they only do it to fatten their wallets and claim power through fear. They disgust me. Anyway, after making short work of the last two Rocket Grunts, I came face to face with Giovanni. That man had an aura of power. He is one to be feared, yet, respected at the same time; just like his mother. He proved to be just as strong as well. I had to rely on Dragonair, my strongest partner, to get the edge over him. After I defeated him, he dropped what looked like an optical device. Upon further inspection, I found out it was a Silph Scope; just what I needed.

I rushed back to Lavender Town and started my ascent up the Pokemon Tower. To my utter frustration, Gary Oak stood in my way on the first floor up. I beat the brat once more; he's getting soft. I had no particular trouble with him this time around. After taking care of the brat, I pushed forward. The Rocket Grunts I faced here proved weaker that those at the Rocket base. I had no particular trouble until I was at the foot of the final flight of stairs upwards. I found that a furious ghostly entity blocked my path. It was the ghost of the dead Marowak that I heard about at the Pokemon House. I had to engage it in one last battle before it could rest in peace. I prevailed and Marowak moved on to the afterlife. Once I arrived at the top floor, I found no trouble in plowing through the remaining Rocket Grunts and rescuing Mr. Fuji. Once he was safely back at the Pokemon House, Mr. Fuji bestowed upon me a Pokemon Flute; a useful tool in future use. I had unfinished business in Celadon City, however, so I promptly made my way back.

Upon arrival, I headed straight to the Gym. After dispatching a perverted pedophile who was peeping in on the young girls in the Gym and doing things that no grown man ought to be doing in public, I made my way inside. I made my way to the Gym Leader whom I realized was a young woman named Erika. This young lady bore an uncanny resemblance to a nurse that I was sweet on in the early years of that war. She always had a knack for herbal remedies. We had a good thing going for the first six months we were stationed together, that is, until she asked for a transfer from out of the blue. She was gone with no explanation and no goodbyes. I didn't hear from her again until nine months later. She looked as beautiful as the first day I saw her. Her words were pretty vague though. She said something about not wanting to place this heavy burden on me. About not wanting to commit me to a role that she knew I couldn't fulfill as long the war was ongoing. She left me and I never saw her again. Not until now when I looked at this girl Erika. She looks the splitting image of that young nurse I fell in love with all those years ago. All except for her eyes; she has my mother's eyes. In any case, I wanted to see what this young lady could do in a Pokemon battle so I gave it my all. Growlithe and Skarmory ensured my victory, but I have to admit, my daughter's one hell of a fighter. I would have told her how much I was proud of her, how much I loved her. I couldn't drop that bombshell on her though. Her late mother chose not to tell her about me and I want to respect her wishes. I know now though, I have a purpose beyond Oak's mission. I have something precious in this world that I have to protect, even though she won't know it herself. In the mean time though, all I can do is to cripple Team Rocket. I have to make sure that they get nowhere near her. I ran Giovanni out of Celadon and now I have a personal reason to bring down their organization. Though it ached me to do so, I adhered to the niceties and bid her adieu and made my way to the Cycling Road. After removing a wild Snorlax from my path (thanks again for the Flute Mr. Fuji), I went and got the HM Fly and geared up to take on the Cycling Road. My mission to be continued.

Journey:

- Mr.fuji agreed to lend us a pokeflute if we helped him out with his orphans for a day. I was happy to oblige, Swift and Chicken
played with them a lot which was helpful, while i gave them general health check-ups and chatted about breeding tips with Fuji. I didn't offer him much advice on feeding though, he seems to have sussed out the orphans needs in that area by himself. While in Mr.Fuji's care, Swift, chicken and i all agreed that it was time to evolve. They had learnt all they could in their current forms and it was time to realize their full potential.

- After recieving the pokeflute i went and woke up snorlax, it was irritated by this fact however, but Swift soon sent it home.

- A fisherman who had been cut off from town due to snorlax gave me a super rod as a thank you gift. I was elated and used it straight away, but nothing i caught had me very interested (gyarados was terrifying and krabby kept cutting the line) After wandering back to vermillion city port i finally caught myself a Brave Staryu. it was perfect! I named it Lionheart.

- I returned to Celadon city with my new Lionheart, i wanted to teach it an electric type move for good coverage and Thunderbolt was the best one i could think of. I was pretty sure i saw one in the game corner when i was buying Chicken's smoke ball...

- I bought a mystic water for Lionheart to wear since it would boost its watter moves, and since it was the brave sort i figured it would need all the extra help it could get to galliantly charge ahead into battle. However, i was quickly running out of money, Thunderbolt cost a total of 4000 coins and i only had 1100 left after getting the gift of mystic water, i decided to save up some more and come back later, instead choosing to head to the next gym in fushia city. I heard koga was a user of poison types so perhaps
Chicken and he dig move would be beneficial here too. Of course Lionheart being a good 20 levels behind was going to take priority
with training though.

- i wondered how staryu ate, if at all, i knew for care i would have to be extra gentle whenever i polished lionhearts crystal as i was aware any damage to it could be detrimental to a staryu's health. Staryu probably absorbed the nutrients it needed from water, so i started mentally concucting the best ways to 'feed' it. Being an oceon pokemon there wouls have to be some level of salt, but perhaps i could mix up a berry paste before hand and allow lionheart to bathe in that like a mud bath before washing it clean in salt water? Would have to experiment at meal times to see what Lionheart preferred.

- finally arrived in fuschia city, it had been a long and tiring journey to get here, before i challenged the gym though, i thought i should check out the the safari first, i heard that there was a quick claw hidden in there somewhere, and felt it would be perfect for Swift.

- I found the quick claw and handed it to Swift just as my time in the safari zone ran out. I turned around and promptly headed back in,
i had previously bumped into an old safari warden, i couldn't make heads or tails of what he was trying to tell me when we spoke, but eventually he wrote down on a piece of paper, asking me to find his golden teeth that he lost in the safari zone after being chased by an enraged rhydon. He promised me the Strength HM in return.

- After a bit of searching i finally found the teeth in question, as well as a guy who gave me the surf HM. Bonus. I taught it to Lionheart
straight away, it needed it good strong move in its repertoire and this was it.

- i returned the old wardens teeth, glad to be rid of them, carrying them around was weird...even my team kept looking at me funny on the way back to him.

- couldn't remember what i had bought at the last town so i stocked up on some super potions here before i took on the gym challenge.

- i challenged the fuschia gym, and was promptly confused. Koga was a poison type gym leader, and yet many of his apprentices used psychic types. It seriously made me doubt my original information about the self proclaimed ninja master.

- Koga was the toughest gym leader i had fought so far, Chicken took out one of his koffings thanks to its move-pool variety, but his Muk was one tough poison type. Even using Swift, my strongest team member, it was a struggle and i ended up using up my small supply of antidotes thanks to its frustrating toxic/minimize combination. Not to mention koga used a hyper potion twice when it got low, and i ended uo also diminishing my supply of super potions too. IT ended up knocking out both Chicken and Swift, leaving the last two of Koga's pokemon up to Lionheart to defeat...i tried using Lionheart's minimize to avoid damage the way Muk had, but it was useless, while koffing went down easily enough, both his attacks had hit Lionheart dead on, leaving it with only 4 hp left to face off against Koga's Ace: Weezing. We didn't stand a chance, and i was forced to retreat to the pokemon centre to rest up and replenish supplies. Perhaps i would attempt koga again once we had trained a little more. Maybe the pre-battle care i had put in before Lt.Surge would come in handy here aswell.

- after a bit of training and a day of play and relaxation we attempted Koga again, it was still a struggle, and Lionheart ended up getting knocked out, as well as Swift, but with a few revives, antidotes and super potions, i was eventually able to drag it out long enough for Chicken to Finish off Weezing with a powerful Flamethrower attack, earning my tired team their 5th badge.

- My team and i traveled to Saffron city next to take on the next gym, while there i stocked up on full heals from the shop and spent some time training at the Dojo next door to the gym, the master was kind enough to allow me to temporarily become one of his students and training there allowed my team to both study the moves and actions of fighting types, as well as become more limber and to think outside the box when it comes to movement in battle. For example, if the situation arose, Chicken had mastered diving out of the way and rolling gracefully to safety, before quickly offering a counter attack, and a machop taught Swift how to properly throw a punch. It was difficult for Lionheart though, and i felt a little bad, but it seemed happy to meditate instead, and occasionally practice spinning and rolling to confuse others.

- once done with our training at the dojo, Lionheart and i decided it was the right time to use the water stone i bought back at celadon city, and evolve it into a starmie. His increase in natural power should be a good help against the gym leader here.

- just before the match i returned to Celadon game corner with Lionheart and purchased him the thunderbolt TM, turns out it was a great addition to his move-set as a lot of sabrina's apprentices used slowpoke.

- Sabrina was a lot easier to defeat than Koga, my team had no problem at all earning our 6th badge. From here i was stumped however, as to where to go next so i looked through my map, there was a gym back at veridium city, but a quick call to some relatives living nearby suggested the gym leader was still away on vacation. Ah! there was a gym on cinnabar island, roughly a day or two away by sea if i left via fuschia city. Guess that was my next destination then!

Agent Log 08/02/17

I've just been moved to a new area to deal with a recent crime syndicate that is apparently starting to terrorise the Unova region. This is my first assignment after completing my MI5 training. Starting off in the make shift home that serves as my cover of a young pokemon trainer I collect the pokemon, Snivy, that I am to hand over to an oprative as of when I reach the Dreamyard in Striaton City so that I can collect my usual partner from when I was in training.

After testing out the strength of my tempory partner against two other agents that where to be posing as my friends/rivals I headed over to the local lab to get my mission in full, now of course the mission was given to me by code, again fitting the disguise of being trainers, so I am to be acting like I am filling out the regions pokedex. It was decided that I would be best to get to this organisation by becoming the regional champion so that I had a certain amount of respect from others, and so I wasn't questioned about what I was doing.

Once collecting my pokedex and being given a map of the region (perfect for plotting where I hear or see criminal evidence) I decided to begin my mission by heading north on route one to Accumula town to see if people have heard anything about this group. Of course being undercover means that I have to really think about the way that I handle this sort of investigation. That was when I saw Team Plasma, led by Ghetsis, the man I am meant to be taking down hopefully. Following his speech people start conversing about what they had just heard, as though they were trying to fully understand what was just said. I'm taken out of my thoughts by a young gentleman approaching myself and Cheren going on about my pokemon talking, turns out his name is N and he throws me into a battle against him and his Purrloin and I manage to defeat him with my Snivy who is reminding me a lot of my usual partner.

I make my wait to Route 2 and make the decision to skip as many battles as possible in order to make training up my usual partner a bit quicker seeing as trainer battles often give more exp than grinding against wild pokemon. Before reaching the town I meet up with Bianca who challenges me to another battle she has two pokemon now, a lillipup and her oshawott and because of my constant use of Snivy he has gotten to a very high level in comparison to her.

I make it finally to Striaton City and head straight for the Dreamyard to collect my partner Panpour who I haven't been in contact with since completing my training. After not too long I am finally reunited with my partner Aguamenti. After boxing Snivy I head back to route 2 and take on the trainers I missed before I decide to take on Cheren, and I beat him with ease, I forgo how strong Aguamenti was. Now I head back to the pokemon center to heal up and then bought some potions for my upcoming gym battle, only spending £1500 on potions so as not to draw too much attention to myself, when asked why I was only getting five potions for a gym run I explained that I was always on a budget of £2000, when instead I am making sure that I don't look to fishy in buying extensive amounts of items.

It isn't too long before I reach the gym leader, or should I say leaders. I already know that I would be fighting Chili thanks to my intelligence from my oprative when I collected my Aguamenti. It didn't take me very long to beat him, I just had to be smart with my healing. I gladly take the Trio Badge and the TM for Work Up. From my youth of training I had developed a style of my partners having one stat buffing, protection or recovery move, two STAB moves and one other move so I quickly teach Aguamenti Work Up as his stat buffing move before leaving the gym.

I am met by Scientist Fennel who I knew worked with Professor Juniper in inventions work. She gives me Cut which I will teach to Snivy so that I don't make Aguamenti's moveset detrimental. So I teach Snivy cut and head over to the Dreamyard again to try and find the dream mist for Fennel. I run into team Plasma and switly deal with them. After going back to Fennel I continue on my journey to Nacrene City.

A few questions.
1. Software update - Does this apply from the level I caught the pokemon at our fit every 10. Like if I caught it on lvl 7, will I have to update it at lvl 10 or 17. Another thing is for every update, I have to replace any two moved of all Pokemons with any other two, right? If I'm wrong please correct me.

2. Tool belt- Z-crystal also include in this?
And do I have to rotate the items every battle or for trails. Please tell if I need to use any specific rule for rotating the items.

Edit: Do I need to name the starter also, and if yes is it necessary to name it with above rule?
If I get my first Pokemon after Ilima's trail, shall I keep my starter along for the grand trail or not?
