I know this is a small issue, but assuming ppl have been playing S/M for a good while now has anyone been able to find out the names of the protagonists? Any info would be appreciated.

(p.s. do not say it's "Elio" and "Selene", those were placeholder names from battle royale trailer)

I'm sure we still haven't found out their canonical names. I do remember the male protagonist was called "Sun" in the demo but other than that, we haven't really discovered it yet.

Just go with Sun & Moon. Since the main male is called Sun, we have no reason to assume the female wouldn't be Moon!

This is what I guess we'll call them for now. In most early generations the male protagonist was commonly referred by the first of the paired versions, while the other ones was referred to the female.

They stopped using the version names as the protagonists canonical names a long time ago. I don't think Brendan was named Brendan in the ORAS demo, either, but that doesn't change that his official name is Brendan.

    They probably have normal names.

Too bad Solana and Lunick are already taken.

I guess until I hear otherwise, I'm gonna have to assume that this gen's protagonists have no default names. So I went and picked some names for them, Orion for the boy and Cassie for the girl.

It's very possible that they don't have canon names. They're the first protagonists since the FRLG girl to not appear anywhere as NPCs, after all. None of the protagonists who never appeared as NPCs have canon names. See also, the GSC boy (*not* the HGSS version, he was canonized as "Ethan" ), the Crystal girl, and the FRLG girl.

With the way trainer customization has become a new norm in the games, I wouldn't be surprised if GF decided that treating the protagonists as canon characters didn't really work anymore. They no longer have "set" appearances, after all, so why should they have "set" names and teams?

Of course, the fandom will give them unofficial names (probably "Sun" and "Moon" ), just like we called the GSC boy "Gold," the Crystal girl "Kris" (sometimes "Crystal" ), and the FRLG girl "Leaf" (sometimes "Green" or "Blue" ).

As BettyNewbie said, it's possible they could be the first protagonists to not have canonical names since this is the first time since FR/LG where the opposite gendered protagonist doesn't appear at all. Bulbapedia has only started updating for Sun & Moon so maybe we'll find out what their names are since it doesn't make sense not having a canonical name.

    Maybe something related to Snorlax

    *bump*

I apologize for bumping an old thread, but I was wondering, what with the strategy guide out and all, if there had been any new info regarding the protagonist's names or are we just sticking with "Sun" and "Moon"?

From what I heard, it appears we still don't know the canonical names. This page on Bulbapedia still lists their names as unknown.

Then we have this TV Tropes page that's currently referring to them as Elio and Selene, the placeholder names we saw in Battle Royal footage in one of the trailers.

The upcoming Sun & Moon saga of the Pokemon Adventures manga seems to be calling them Sun (male protagonist) and Moon (female protagonist) since that media tends to follow a theme of the main protagonists being named after the game versions.

Basically, we'll just have to settle with either set of names for now.

Okay then, just thought I'd check. Still I wonder if anyone's asked GF themselves on this matter or if there's a way to ask them.

Im assuming its just Sun and Moon, and if not, unnamed. That is, WE are the main characters.

Since the male protagonist was called Sun in the demo, I think we should just call them Sun (male) and Moon (female) because having them go without a name would be absolutely weird.

If it isn't the names in the demo, I'd suggest Sol and Luna.

Because creativity does not need to run terribly deep for human names.
