Treath of Shadows: Journey into the Darkness (Adopter RP)

"Who says it was done by anyone?" Kindle replied, taking a few steps closer and examining the Cacnea's endeavors with mild interest. "Voltorbs tend to be very volatile. They can explode at the drop of a feather." She examined the area and quickly came to realize that this wasn't the case, there was no sign of burning or a crater in the area so whatever had happened to this electric type it certainly hadn't happened of its own will.

Kuro watched the scene with a mixture of fear and fascination. Sure, he had seen some pretty disturbing things in the time he had spent with his temperamental saviour, but Kindle always made her kills quick and clean, unlike what had occured here. All that gore... the Meowth thought, It is strange though, I would have thought that it would be...different. Kuro didn't voice these thoughts, but his tail began flicking in a manner that suggested that he was on to something.

In an instant, the Absol was up on her feet, Caesar clinging to her back, and had leapt after Needles and Kindle.
Boudicca wrapped her lithe body around the little Cleffa, cooing soothingly. "It's okay, it's okay...." she whispered, over and over again. Pandora kept crying, but the onslaught on tears was beginning to ease off. Now Kindle, Kuro, and Needles were watching, she felt slightly embarressed.

Caesar threw himself off Boudicca's back, landing in a little cloud of dust. He bounded over, his beady eyes wide in a mixture of horror and sheer curiosity. "Woah..." he muttered, crawling forward- before pausing.
"This was one screwed up voltorb..." on one of the larger pieces, there was what looked like a white button where one of the eyes should have been.

Boudicca frowned. "You know..." she said, glancing to Kindle, "...There's something very strange about this. It can't have been self-destruct... And I'll a little confused by the lack of internal organs." She stared at it harder. "Even steel types have a heart, and lungs, and things..." All she could see was a sort of 'lense', and several coloured rings running all the way around it.
The absol sniffed it darkly. It smelt...artificial, somehow. And old. Very old, like it had been there for a while.

{ooc| Sorry! Went to walk my dog.}

"Hmm?" at Boudicca's comment, Kindle furrowed her brow and looked closer at the remains of the Voltorb. "You're right!" she exclaimed after a while "There isn't an organ to be found, and what's more, it doesn't even have eyes. Look." she pointed one of her taloned feet towards the piece that had presumably been the late Voltorb's face. There were indeed no eyesockets, only a single strange lense which seemed to consist of some peculiar translucent material.

Kuro leapt closer at the exclamation, observing the pieces with newfound interest. He picked one up suspiciously and sniffed it a bit. "You know..." the Meowth said after a pause "I smell something fishy about this Voltorb. My nose never lies. What do you think about this, Needles?" he asked, turning to adress the Cacnea.

Needles & Miyako
-------------------

"This is strange. I mean, no explosion, no traces of a fight and something leaving or coming, and no organs?" Needles said, his bright yellow flower drooping a bit, "You don't suppose..." He trailed off his stare widening in revelation, "Maybe it isn't a Voltorb. Maybe it's not even a pokemon. Maybe it's something else." He felt a shiver go up him.

Although, what it was exactly he wasn't sure about. He just knew it couldn't be a pokemon. Perhaps a rock? It wasn't a plant, or he would know it.

It was beginning to get darker, or the trees around them were making it seem so anyway, blocking the horizon where the sun was sitting. The clouds aboe them streaked orange and pink in a beautiful sunset.

{ooc| Very scenic, Melissa!}

Boudicca growled lowly at both Caesar and Pandora. "It's past you bed time's now, Mr. and Ms." she said, in a scolding manner.
Both pokemon let up a howl of disapprovel, but one sharp look from the absol silenced them both.
For a moment, she stared at the pair of them, before turning her attention back to the others.

"I don't like the looks of this." she sniffed again. "It's definetly been here a while... maybe it's some sort of egg shell?" she shook her head darkly, as if to dismiss the thought. "The material's too hard... and it's cracked irregularily, you see?" she jabbed at it with one paw.

Pandora watched on in conusion. "Boodi..." she said quietly, tugging on the abol's leg hair, but Boudicca was thinking hard.

[ooc]: Agh! Leave it to me to leave right when everyone gets on! XD]
~----~

Na-Na had been watching over Boudicca's shoulder, glaring at the bits and pieces of what they thought to be a Voltorb. He frowned. Not even he could tell what it was. Judging by the mess, though, something had gone wrong.

"Uhm..." Na-Na peeped, sinking down to sit on a rock nearby. "Am I the only one who thinks we're in pretty big danger here? We don't have the first idea of what could come out when the sun goes down..." Na-Na was sure the Absol, or Kindle, who seemed to be the main leaders of the 'group', would understand what he meant. The last thing they all wanted was to get into a fight with another Shadow Pok?mon.

Boudicca puffed out her chest. "I agree with this skitty." she said, in her most authoritive voice, "There are youngsters here, remember?" She glanced to Caesar, who was still staring at the remains eagerly.
"I think that's enough for one day." she said, and, almost regretfully, Caesar walked away. Boudicca tutted under her breath; she had been warned Caesar was a bad egg, and it was a bad idea to take him on. At the time, Caesar had been fine, but now he was getting far worse.

Pandora's eyes widened at the sight of the sitty's tail. "Oooooo..." she said, and waddled over to stand behind it, watching it as if she was hypnotised. "Who you?" Pandora asked eventually, smiling in her usual innocent way.

OOC: Well, it's based off of the sunrise I saw this morning coming to school. T'was pretty! X3

*glomps Charon's new avatar* So cuuute! -^.^-

EDIT: Gah! People posted before me. *edits* XD BTW, I'm gonna leave for a little while and get some lunch.

Needles & Miyako
-------------------

Cacnea nodded as the Skitty spoke. He agreed; perhaps they should move on. Though, he still felt drawn to the puzzle of the strange object.

"Nah, it can't be an egg, that would never have suvived all of this time. Besides," he said, poking at a piece, "It's way too hard. How would any baby have broken out of that?" He was completely stumped, but something about it creeped him out.

"Maybe it's human," came a voice from behind him. He jumped and then realized it was only Miyako. She stood looking there looking her usual indifferent self.

"W-what?!" squeaked Needles, looking awed, "H-human?"

Miyako blinked, "Oh Needles I was only kidding. There's no way it could be human, but the way you three talk about it, it might as well be. There are many things out there that we don't know about nor will we figure them all out. What matters now is to find some shelter. Leave the philosophy for another time; preferably when we're all hidden somewhere. I agree with the Skitty too. Let's go." She had come over because of the strange discussion she had heard. Not to mention, she assumed that they would be back if it had only been a dead Voltorb.

She fluffed her wings nervously. Though she had joked about it and considered it something that was less than it had seemed, she still felt an ominous feeling as she stared at its alien smoothness and cold appearance.

It was like a souless, hollow Voltorb.

{ooc| Thanks! The full picture... I'll post it tomorrow, maybe. Too lazy to do it now... I love yours too, even though I'm not a big Yu-Gi-Oh fan. I stopped watching it after duelist's kingdom, haven't seen it since.}

Pandora gave a little wail of fear, abandonning Na-Na's tail and throwing herself back to Boudicca. "Humans! Humans are mean, aren't they?" she cried, expecting the absol's normal reassurance, but when Boudicca remained stonily silent, Pandora frowned. "Aren't they?" she demanded, a little louder than usual.

Boudicca shook her head. "No one knows... but they must have been, to be banished like they were."
She glanced to Miyako. "Can you fly ahead? Scout about for a moment? I don't want to drag these two off only to run into the purpertraitor...."

"Purple-Traiter!" Pandora gave a gasp, "Oh No! How horrific!"

{ooc| By the way, I'll be home late tomorrow... and probably the day after....}

"True enough." Kindle concured, "There will be plenty of time to solve mysteries such as this one later on, and at the moment safety should be our prime concern." she turned to walk away, stopping when she noticed that Kuro wasn't moving. The Meowth now seemed utterly fascinated with the strange object, staring at it unblinkingly and looking unusually distanced from the world. "Kuro!" the Torchic called sharply, a hint of worry audible in her voice. "Stop dawdling and get a move on!"

"Coming..." the Meowth replied absent-mindedly, finally tearing his eyes away from the scene and turning to follow Kindle. Strange... he thought for himself That thing...it smelled...familiar. As if I had known something like it before... he shook his head as if attempting to dislodge this line of thought from it by force. How on earth could he have known a...whatever that thing was? It was practically ancient, easily older than him.

"Of course humans are evil." Kindle stated matter-of-factly as the topic came up "Why else would our ancestors have been forced to pray for another world just to flee them?"

Kuro however wasn't as firm in his beliefs, but kept it silent, his tail twitching in a thoughtfull manner. But what if... the Meowth thought for himself What if there are different kinds of humans?

OOC: Blergh. o.o;;;;;;

IC:

Twilight seemingly fell silent the entire time, but that was mostly just because she was confused. Never had she seen such a thing, nothing even came close! She hadn't even seen a Voltorb in her time!

Yeesh, I'm so useless.. The Girafarig remarked to herself as the group made the decision to move on, causing her to follow the general group silently.

Snail had already jumped off of Na-na's back, if a bit slowly and hesitantly, to get a better look at what looked like the dead Voltorb, although everyone had already proved it to be something else. Crawling over to a spot next to Kuro, she stared at the broken pieces for a long while before scurrying away when the Meowth did.

"Looks.. Like a machine.." Snail muttered quietly, trying her best to keep up.

~----~
Frowning, Puurii looked up at the sky, deep in thought. 'Kindle seems quite confident that humans are evil... But then, I should have known that she'd be the type to think so. I'm not too sure, myself...'

Taking matters into her own hands, Puurii tugged on Na-Na's paw toward the direction of the forest ahead of them. "I want to go look ahead, try and find some place that's safer. Are you coming with me?"

Na-Na nodded, looking over at Boudicca, Pandora, Caeser, Kindle... "Maybe it'd be a good idea if one group stays with the little ones and one goes to look around. I don't think it'd be too smart if we all tried to go at once..."

OOC: Hey hey hey! XD

"Oh.. There's a cave by the lake.. But it's far away.." Snail mumbled as she eventually caught up with Puurii and Na-na, hearing their conversation about shelter, then the part about splitting up.

"If.. I-If you get in trouble.. Don't run back to the little ones' group.. Lose the enemy, then run back.. But I hope you don't have to.." Snail concluded, hiding slightly in her shell, as if that would draw less attention to herself, then attempted to scuttle away at a decent pace.

[ooc]: My brain is dead. ;;]
~----~

"A cave... Sounds worth a try," said Puu, taking Snail's advice. Hopefully, they wouldn't run into anything, though...

Taking the direction Snail had given them, they both set off. "Certainly it couldn't be too far. Maybe we'll find something on the way, anyway." Toddling along after Puurii, Na-Na mused under his breath. He had suddenly forgotten why he was doing this, other than for the sake of the smaller ones. Atleast it wasn't a huge risk. After all, Puurii and he had traveled alone before, hadn't they?

"Don't walk too fast," warned the Mareep, "You might trip on something." She was right, the ground around these parts had proven to have been iffy and scattered with rocks and twigs. It was hard not to step on something just walking down the path.

Boudicca turned her attention to Snail. She was a ferocious sight at the best of times, but to the tiny little omanyte she must have been a monstrosity.
"And you are?" she asked, smiling softly, noticing the Omanyte's shyness.

{ooc| SHORT.... *dies*}

At Boudicca's question, Snail peeked out of her shell a little more, glancing upwards at the Absol, who was indeed much taller than her. Widening her eyes, she stammered in reply.

"S-Snail.. That's my name.." She said, falling silent after the last part. The creature seemed gentle enough.. So she attempted to calm down, although she still remained partially in her shell.

Twilight followed Puurii and Na-na with her eyes as they walked off, hoping to find the cave that Snail spoke of. She wasn't really that worried, but she did believe that there could be a chance..

"Oh, I hope they'll be alright.." Twilight stated, eventually turning away and walking closer to the group that had now been dubbed with the duty of watching the little ones.

Na-Na turned around once more to look over at Twilight and Snail. He half wished that someone else would follow them, but they were the ones that offered, right...?

The farther they got into the forest, the darker it got. The branches and leaves were so thick and plentiful that they covered most of the light that was left. This area was obviously not traveled very frequently, as the path had almost worn away, nearly grown-over by weeds and grass.

"If we don't find another Pok?mon in here, I don't think we should even consider it," Na-Na whispered to Puu. "There's only bound to be evil if there's nothing else."

"Um.. Isn't anyone going to help them? Or are they the only ones going to look?" Twilight asked aloud, gesturing towards Puu and Na-na.

Snail was too busy fearing Boudicca to even take proper notice of Twilight's question, glancing over to the Girafarig for a split second before fixing the Absol in her stare once again.

Twilight sighed. She was probably going to regret doing this, but she couldn't just let the poor Mareep and Skitty venture out there on their own. In a graceful matter, the Girafarig began bounding up the hill, leaping over rocks and twigs and such in the process, not wanting to make that much noise. After a few minutes, without slowing pace, she had arrived a few feet behind Puu and Na-na. She stopped bounding so fast, slowing down to a walk which matched the current pace of the other two.

"Hello.. Couldn't.. Let you go.. By yourselves.." Twilight huffed, catching her breath.

Na-Na flipped around, suddenly filled with relief to hear the sound of Twilight's voice. He rushed over and clung to one of her slender legs. "I'm glad you came, I was worried we'd be going alone," he giggled.

"Just stay close to us," reminded Puurii.

Now the path had disappeared completely, and the only way to get through was to keep walking forward and hope that you didn't steer off-course. "As long as there's space, let's keep going straight. If we loose our way, then..." Puu trailed off, trying to find something to mark a course. "Na-Na, just scratch each tree that we pass. That should help." Na-Na nodded, and hopped over to the trees nearby, sharpening his claws quietly. The claw markings were small, but noticable enough.

"Hmm.. Okay." Twilight sighed with relief as Na-na let go of her leg. It was reassuring that he was glad, but she wasn't used to people clinging to her leg.

"It would've been helpful if I brought that Omanyte.. After all, I guess she must know where the lake is. Grr, I'm so brain dead." Twilight continued, although she kept her voice down to a whisper, the darkness having that natural effect on her.

As usual, the Girafarig wasn't the least bit tired. She could explore all night if she wanted to. But ah well, she wanted to be part of the bigger group again, for it seemed safer. The sooner they found that cave, the better.
