Saw serebii's review of blastoise and it inspired me to make I want to build a team out of the three starters. Conveniently enough, the 3 have synergy with each other, with Charizard Y's sunlight helping Venusaur, and Blastoise removing rocks with rapid spin for charizard. I need help with the other 3 members though.

    Blastoise @ Assault Vest
    Ability: Torrent
    EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
    Modest Nature
    - Dragon Tail
    - Rapid Spin
    - Scald
    - Dark Pulse

Team rapid spinner. Dark pulse is to hit ghosts that stop spin blocking. Scald is cool, with a 30 000 % chance to burn. Dragon tail stops setup.

    Venusaur @ Life Orb
    Ability: Chlorophyll
    EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    Mild Nature
    - Sludge Bomb
    - Earthquake
    - Giga Drain
    - Synthesis

Sunlight helps synthesis heal more, which is needed because of . Earthquake and sludge bomb hits a ton of pokemon for good damage, and giga drain rounds off coverage.

    Charizard @ Charizardite Y
    Ability: Blaze
    EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
    Timid Nature
    - Fire Blast
    - Solar Beam
    - Focus Punch
    - Roost

Charizard Y has a lot of power, good coverage, and a useful ability. Fire Blast and Solar beam are standards. I equiped charizard with the rare Focus punch due to it's power and accuracy, as well as the flare of text it prompts from spectators. It hits Tyranitar, Heatran, chansey, and kin who think they can switch in. Roost heals Charizard.

These 3 pokemon are musts, however their sets and the other slots are up to debate as to what works.

Honestly, Venusaur and Blastoise aren't worth using outside of their Mega Evolutions. Remember that regular Venusaur is somewhat underwhelming now because Charizard Y can't hold a Heat Rock to extend its Drought to 8 turns. 5 turns (or less) may not be enough for Venusaur to do what it needs to do. It could work, though, if you know what you're doing.

Focus Punch is a bad move without Substitute. If Charizard Y is hit, the attack will fail. Sure, it can be used to hit Tyranitar and Heatran on the switch, but Focus Blast runs off of Charizard Y's better Special Attack. Yes, Focus Punch hits Chansey hard, too, but you're better off leaving it to other teammates. The standard full special Charizard Y set is the best mileage you're going to get out of it, I'm afraid:
    -Fire Blast/Flamethrower
    -Solar Beam
    -Focus Blast
    -Roost
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite Y

If you really want Charizard Y to deal with Chansey, it can go mixed. Note it's not as effective as the full special variant:
    -Flare Blitz
    -Solar Beam
    -Earthquake/Focus Blast
    -Roost/Fire Blast
    Nature: Naive/Hasty
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite Y

    252 Atk Mega Charizard Y Flare Blitz vs. 4 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey in Sun: 333-393 (51.8 - 61.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Assault Vest Blastoise isn't worth it, as it's not really strong enough. Assault Vest is better used on Pokemon that can hit decently hard (Azumarill and Conkeldurr are examples), but Blastoise isn't one of them. Defensive Blastoise is your best bet of using Blastoise, but remember that its Mega counterpart does offensive roles much better:
    -Scald
    -Rapid Spin
    -Toxic
    -Roar
    Nature: Bold
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
    Item: Leftovers

I don't like focus blast for its lower accuracy, but I guess both are kinda unreliable in their own way. For now I'll run focus blast.

Just a quick question, why roar over dragon tail?

Just a quick question, why roar over dragon tail?
Roar doesn't get cockblocked by the ubiquitous Fairies. Also has 100% accuracy over Dragon Tail's 90%. The damage will be pretty bad anyways since Blastoise doesn't have very high Attack and doesn't get STAB on it. Though Dragon Tail can't get Taunted or Magic Bounced, but I still think Roar is probably the better choice here.

To fill in the other slots, first thing you need is a rocks setter. Idk, bulky Lando-T would probably do that well. Immune to Electric which Zard and Blastoise are weak to, basically counters Excadrill, gives you both a useful Ground immunity and Ground STAB. Slower U-turn is good to safely bring in shit, etc. Might wanna pack an extra Ice resist though.
