Ultimate Guitarists

Thanks for the vid! I might be able to get a cover in at some point, but no promises! Pretty busy these days -.-

Seeker I really hope you can get around to it, it'd be really great to see a cover of it before I change it again.

They sound like fantastic instruments Zephyr, now I really want to see what they look like, would it be possible for you some how to get a photo of them?

Also does anyone have any ideas on how to make the club more active? Feel free to suggest something.

Here's a video of one of my guitars, the Parker Nitefly

That video didnt work for me pmarck! :(

Also I'd just like to say that the tab of the month has been changed and there was no entry for this months :( The new one will be the pirates of the caribbean theme song! Yayyy!

Also the topic has been updated:
Who is your favourite guitarist and why?

That's weird that it's not workin. I've tried to add a different URL to the same video, but it hasn't worked.

As for the topic, I'd probably have to say that, all though I don't have a favorite, Brendon Small is definitely up there. He's a great guitarist, and he made Metalocalypse, so you know he's awesome. Not only can he do sick solos, but he can also create songs with great chord progressions and rhythms that work well and are very metal.

Sorry, I've been really super busy lately, so I couldn't get a cover up. I'll try for the Pirates, but I still don't know if I'll be able to. Gonna be gone for two weeks, and I'm trying to learn a couple of songs to preform at a camp I'm going to in a few weeks. Yay showing off.

Anyways, my favorite guitarist? Easy. Mikael Akerdfelt of Opeth. He practically single-handedly inspired me to play guitar, especially metal. And not only that, but I'm pretty sure Brendon Small used Mikael as an inspiration for one of the fictional members of Dethklok (not sure which one, I don't really watch Metalocalypse). So yeah.

@Pmarck,
Perhaps youre not putting in the correct part of the url when you're trying to embedded it?

My Favourite Guitarist:

I have a few but the winner has to be Dan Donegan from Disturbed. He is basically the reason I play guitar and I have so much respect for him. He can play simple chord progressions like its all he's done his whole life then bust into a crazy face melting riff like nothing happened and to top it off producers INCREDIBLE solo's that add to the songs and arent just shredding or showing off. In my opinion a fantastic guitarist in every aspect.

It's a show, on Adult Swim, about "the biggest band in the world" names Dethklok. The creator, Brendon Small, created the songs on the show and is actually in the live Dethklok band, be plays guitar and he does vocals. They are a melodic death metal band, and all their fans are crazy for them. Each episode is pretty much what goes on in their daily lives, and in every episode at least one person dies. It's a pretty funny show with a LOT of gore.

Oh thats really cool! I might have to catch it one day, see if its as good as it sounds!

So what songs have everyone been learning lately? I just finished learning most of God Knows By Aya Hirano, and I was thinking of re-learning some songs I have forgotten like Focus shift By Dark Tranquility and tuning my guitars down uber lower for some Parkway Drive songs.

Hahaha, I watched a few episodes of Metalocalypse back in the day. I wasn't huge into it but I loved the concept.

Anyways, how's everyone been doing. My drummer went to Scotland so we haven't practiced in a little while. We decided to tackle Muse's Stockholm Syndrome - an incredibly simple tabbing, but repetitive and fast as hell. My wrist is going to swell, but it'll be awesome! We're gonna be playing a gig downtown in my city, should be awesome.

Here's our setlist:
Purple Haze (Jimi)
Purple Stain (RHCP)
"Nothing is True" an original
Don't Forget Me (RHCP)
Karma Police
"Everything is Permitted" the second part to our original
Stockholm Syndrome
Crying Lightning (arctic monkeys)

Well, I learn songs pretty quickly nowadays, but maybe that's cuz I've been doing a lot of rythym work, so there's not too much to learn. But anmyways, here's the songs I've been learning for the past... while.

Harvest - Opeth
Good Riddance - Green Day
Waiting on the World to Change - John Mayer
The Pokemon Theme Song - Ray Parker, Jr.
Gold on the Ceiling - The Black Keys
Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes
Welcome Home (Sanitarium) - Metallica
One - Metallica
Fade to Black - Metallica
To Bid You Farewell - Opeth
Holiday - Green Day
Hey Soul Sister - Train

And... Well, I'm not proud of it, but I had to learn it for an upcoming concert: Born This Way - Lady Gaga

I know. Kinda all over the place.

When it comes to acoustic, how do you feel when the guitarist is most talented?

I personally think that when someone can play and sing in different rhythms is more talented than someone who plays eighth notes and sings.

This:

Anyone who can play the guitar like that and sing is extremely talented in my books. Newton Faulkner is another good example of what I think is extreme talent on an acoustic guitar.

Also is anyone thinking of tackling this months tab? Its the pirate of the Caribbean theme song!

That guy's sick. I can barely play guitar like that, let alone sing along with it lol
While we're on the subject of finger picking:

He obviously uses an effect, but it still sounds great, it's hard to even believe one guy is playing.

I have heard that song before and thought it was cool then, still the same feeling! It really sounds cool another good fingerstylist from candy rat is Antoine Dufour, you should check out his song "Scratch" its pretty amazing xD.

Who here is actually a finger stylist? I am personally so hopeless at it its embarrassing to pick up an acoustic guitar. :|
