Ultimate Monotype Challenge Thread

Finally beat Red in pokemon crystal with my fire team. Blastoise was damn near impossible, snorlax was also a challenge. My team: lvl 60 magcargo, lvl 61 magmar, lvl 61 rapidash, lvl 62 growlith, lvl 83 typhlosion. Had a togepi with me also to use flash.

-Yjumpy reached lvl 18 and evolved

-Rosebud reached lvl 21 and evolved

-POKEGRIND over...all pokemon on lvl 21

-Faced Whitney and won

-Went to the Park

-ran arround the park and caught Sunseed (sunkurn)

-Yjumpy reached lvl 27 and evolved

-Reached Ecruteak, met bill and headed to battle the Kimono Girls

-Defeated the Kimono Girls and recieved HM03

-Went to Burned Tower, and met Flare

-Breat Flare, but only just

-POKEGRIND

-Shrooms reached lvl 24 and evolved

-Caught 2 new sunkurn to breed so i can evolve the baby sunkurn into a
sunflora to access the entirety of its moveset

-went to Olivine to obtain the Good rod

-once obtained returned to Ecruteak

-POKEGRIND over...all pokemon on lvl 30 (took a good long time)

-beat Morty, beating Gengar with mostly Leech Seed

-Headed back to Olivine

-fought up the Lighthouse

-Jasmine sent me to Cinawood to get the Medicine Amphoros

-Caught Slave I (Crabby) tought it Surf and Strength

-Caught Slave II (Hoothoot) to later teach fly

-headed south to cinabar, on the way Leaves reached lvl 32 and evolved

-reached Cinabar island, recieved the secretpotion

-headed over to the gym and beat Chuck

-Recieved HM02 and flew back to Olivine

-Climbed the Lighthouse and gave Secretpotion to Jasmine

-Headed over to the gym and won

-Headed out for Mahogany

-reached the town then went to lake of rage

-got there and defeated the Red garados

-Headed back to Mahogany

-went into the secret Team Rocket Lair and shut off the strange signal

-Beat 'the-old-man-in-the-ice-gym' (i forgot his name) easily

-went to goldenrod to stop the Team Rocket broadcasts

-Cleared out Radio Tower, and got Basement Key

-Cleared out the underground and got Card Key (why do people need so
many keys)

-Cleared out the rest of the Radio Tower

-Flew back up to Mahogany and headed East

-Went through Ice Cave and arived in Blackthorn

-Went to the gym and faced Clair, and she refused to give me the badge

-Entered the Dragon's Den and got the Dragon Fang, and the Clair gave me
the badge

-Went down Mountain Road

-Went exploring, i was bored

-got Slave III (Goldeen)

-Got through most of victory road, then Flare challenged me, failed a couple o' times

-Got through Victory Road

-POKEGRIND

-Went to the Park for a bug catching contest, won and got myself a sunstone

-used the sunstone on Rosebud for a Bellossm

The progress of my ultimate

So, i did the boring beginning stuff. Named myself Tim and my Rival banana.
I choosen Bulbasaur (Jungle) and defeated my rival.
I walked to Viridian city and walked back with his parcel.
Obtained my pokéballs and walked back again.
I learned how to catch pokémon...
I catcht my next member. Weedle (Missile)
Trained both to level 10 Missile evolved and evolved again.
defeated Banana again.
Sweeped trough the Viridian forest.
Whipped away Brock and finally obtained my running shoes.
Defeated some trainers on the next route and catched a Nidoran f (Rina)
Defeated the other trainers and grinend some more.
Jungle and Rina evolved.
Get my Moon stone but i don't let Nidorina evolve.
Defeated team rocket and i obtained fossile. I don't no what because i don't need them
Sweeped Banana, the nugget bridge, and the next route.
Grinded to level 22 and let Nidorina evolve (Bite and Bodyslam)
Defeated Misty. one Vinewhip and one Twin needle defeated her.

I got my first two badges! That means i defeated 2/40 gyms thats 5% of all

The Story so far:

+ Grinded some levels with Swipe, before realising I had a handy little Metal Coat in Diamond >=)

Swipe evolved into an awesome Scizor B) I renamed him Chrome - I think it's more fitting ^^
+ Next up is Morty. Chrome's Pursuit is a godsend in this gym x)

A Pursuit took it to red hp, then it used Curse =P So down it went, and I switched:

It goes first, using Sucker Punch. But it fails because I used Scary Face >=D Now I'm faster, Shadow Sneak would have hit first anyway. It tries a Hypnosis.

+ The badge is mine, and it's off to Olivine. (Did you see that rhyme? Oh look I did it again ;D)
+ Nothing much happens on the way there. Same in the lighthouse once I get there. Jasmine tells me I need to get my 10 year old arse across the sea to pick up medicine for a pokemon she won't even use against me ¬¬
+ As soon as my rant was done, I crossed over to Cianwood City. Got the medicine, and then had a go at Chuck.

I thought I'd be classy and use Counter to knock it out. Trust the damn thing to get a critical Iron Tail on me ¬¬ After stalling with Chrome, I revived Rhino and the tactic worked second time round.

+ Then I saved the game ^^ Next step: road to Mahogany Town.

I've just defeated Red on my Pokémon Crystal Mono Flying Run - and my highest Level was only Lv.46, and on my first attempt as well! :D Heartbreakingly though, it seems something is wrong with the VBA video, the same thing that happened with Lance, so the only proof I have is a printscreen :'( . To be fair, the battle did last almost an hour and was basically me stalling while all of his moves ran out (Stalling off 35 Wing Attacks is NOT fun), but it's still pretty devastating :( . I'd like to think people will believe me, but I'll record again if need be :) .

Infact, I'll just whizz through the battle again at mega speed and record the end, showing off my team as well. That will offer sufficient proof I think :) .

EDIT: Excellent, I've just discovered that some of the original video has remained: footage of me defeating Blastoise, Espeon and Snorlax is still intact :D . I'll just record me beating the last couple of Pokémon in a new vid and show off my team as proof, I'm not too bothered that the Pikachu footage was lost as he was reasonably easy anyway. That's certainly cheered me up, expect proof soon :D .

-Caught two mankeys for my team, Walla Walla and Bananas

(decided to focus on leveling up Bananas for now)

My character's name is King (of course). And I have an Ivysaur named Fugly, a Nidorino, and a Zubat named Rawr. I'm not sure on the levels yet. So hopefully I'll get a real update in soon.
