So, as some of you have already noticed, Greeeny has made us some nice new userbars for the UMC. I'll be adding them to the first post with haste. :D

And in regards to updates, expect one either this evening or early tomorrow. ^^

EDIT: I just noticed that it's been exactly a year since I started this thing, and it's still going strong. Awesome challenges, people! :D

Log

As Water is my type of choice, I started off with Squirtle. I quickly realized how hard this was goingto be; the second Water type I could acquire was in Vermillion City (Magikarp). At first things proved challenging, however, by grinding for a while, I wasable to get to level 18 for the first gym. Needless to say; I wiped the floor with Brock.

By the time I hit Cerulean City, my Wartortle was LvL 25 due to it being my sole pokemon, and it was quickly leveling off of the easy kills from the trainers on the bridge. Meeting my Rival at Cerulean was annoying; he led with Pidgeotto who survived a Water Gun and proceeded to Sand Attack Wartortle. After a long battle, I came out victorious and at LvL 26.The huge amount of trainers in Cerulean brought this number up to 29 by the end. I expected a challenge at Cerulean Gym, but was disappointed in them; Wartortle's Bite OHKOd everything except Shellder and Starmie. After that quick trip, I was LvL 30, and on my way to Vermillion City.

I was excited to be in Vermillion; there was a lot to do. First on my list was to go and see the Fishing Guru to get the Old Rod that I needed to catch Magikarp. Iquickly caught one, and went through the hellish process that is leveling it up to 20. By the time Magikarp evolved,Wartortle was LvL 34. I evolved it quickly, using Diglett's Tunnel to grind, and then turned my attentions tomy new Gyarados. After leveling it to 27, I boarded theS.S. Anne for some trainer experience. I encountered my Rival right before the captain's door, and battled him with my Gyarados, sweeping him completely.

When I was through with the S.S. Anne, Gyarados was
level 31, and ready to face Lt. Surge. It turned out, however, that Surge wasn't prepared for Gyarados' mighty attacks, and he was plowed through; only Raichumanaged to survive and attack, and despite a major type advantage, failed to do 50%. For the sake of equality, I decided to go back into Diglett's Tunnel and level Gyarados up to 36. With two offensive powerhouses, it's time to go to Celadon and obtain my third, and favorite pokemon.

Latest Progress:
Arrived at Celadon City and paid a random visit to the games corner.
Beat the poster guard guy and pressed the switch.
Went underground and defeated every Rocket and their boss, Giovanni.
Got the Silph Scope and headed back to Lavender Town.
Entered the Memorial Tower thing and beat my Rival, Smithy.
Traveled to the top of the tower which was annoying because the only move Onix could use against all those Gastly was Rock Throw, which is incredibly inaccurate.
Beat the Marowak and rescued Mr.... Foji? from the Rockets, got the Poke Flute.
Went back to Celadon City and challenged the Gym, won the Rainbow? Badge.
Headed left towards the cycling road and awoke the Snorlax.
KO'd the Snorlax because I lacked great balls and patience.
Rode down towards Fuchsia City avoiding as many trainers as possible. (I'll have a Rhyhorn to train soon.. ^_^)
Arrived in Fuchsia City and headed straight to the Safari Zone.
Caught two Rhyhorn and chose the one with the best suited stats to join my team.
Saved game outside Fuchsia City Poke Centre.

Anyone knows where I'll get my second water type? Except for Psyduck.

You can get Shellos and Buizel just after Floaroma, and a Magikarp as soon as you reach Eterna. And of course you can evolve Bidoof.

Congrats on making this thread last so long, everyone!

OK. My GBA-is pee is lost, so I'll just emulate here with... Fire! Is the userbar just for the guys who beat the challenge or is it enough to just participate?

2nd Sinnoh entry
Version: Platinum
Type: Grass

So, since my last update, I've been moving on, and, well... Long story short, I'm about to challenge Crasher Wake. I'm just gonna grind up Tangrowth to level 40, and then I'm gonna go for it.
My current team:

"image removed"Torterra, lv. 40
Lonely Nature // Overgrow // Soothe Bell
- Razor Leaf
- Return
- Eartquake
- Bite

My main battler, definitely. She can take a hit, and she's got a somewhat decent moveset. Return works as an awesome filler move, Earthquake is a killer, Bite is great for taking out those annoying Psychics, and Razor Leaf is just good for the STAB.

*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Leafeon, lv. 40
Naive Nature // Leaf Guard
- Secret Power
- Quick Attack
- Return
- Magical Leaf

I dunno why I wanted this guy on my team. I guess I was curious and wanted to find out how well he does in battles. Turns out, he does pretty well in battles. And when I finish his moveset, he will do even greater.

*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Wormadam, lv. 40
Gentle Nature // Anticipation // SilverPowder
- Tackle
- Psybeam
- Bug Bite
- Razor Leaf

I love Wormadam's movepool, it's seriously wicked! This is gonna be an important member of my team. To be honest, it already is.

*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Tangrowth, lv. 33
Timid Nature // Chlorophyll // Razor Fang
- Vine Whip
- AncientPower
- Mega Drain
- Shock Wave

Tangrowth... Honestly, I did not plan on having this guy on my team. When I planned my team, I originally restricted it to five Pokémon - Torterra, Wormadam, Cherrim, Leafeon and Abomasnow. However, I quickly ditched Cherrim, due to its lame movepool. I'm still gonna go for Abomasnow, but when I accidentally came across a Tangela in the Great Marsh, I just couldn't resist. Anyway, it has a great movepool, (I love the fact that it can learn Shock Wave!) and it has awesome stats, so I have a hunch that this guy is gonna be a very important member of my team.
