Still slacking on my challenge. Been too busy thanks to exams. Oh well. I will finish this... eventually.

Actually, I wanted to ask a question. Does anyone know where to get a Fire Stone before the Elite Four in Pokemon Crystal? I kind of need one.

Log:

  • Togepi hatched. Yay. I named it Geno just for the heck of it.
  • I caught a Growlithe, which was more difficult than it should have been because I had nothing to lower its health with (Bellsprout was useless). I almost caught it at near-full health with a Lure Ball. Haha. I named her Arwen.
  • Defeated Whitney. She's a lot easier than I remembered her.
  • Killed the Sudowoodo thing.

I believe that if you battle the SchoolBoy by the MooMoo Farm, he will call after a while and offer you a Fire Stone. I'm pretty sure.

Well, despiite being ill (again) I made signifigant progress! Wheee!
-Quick Question before I start, I'm thinking of teaching Swalot stockpile and such, which takes up 3 slots, any suggestions what I should Have in slot 4?
-Also, should I keep Air Cutter or get Areial Ace?

Trainer Name: Seb
Badges: 6

Log:

  • Defeated the Kimono Girls and got Surf.
  • Defeated Rival Shawn and released the Legendary Dogs/Gerbils/Felines (I would argue that they are felines. I mean, Entei looks like a lion and Raikou looks like a saber-tooth tiger.)
  • Defeated Morty. I always liked Morty. For the first time in history, I'm overleveled against him. Also, Arwen's Bite = amazing.
  • Tyson evolved into a Typhlosion!
  • Beat Eusine. I forgot that he existed. I'm not that used to the Crystal story line.
  • Defeated Chuck. I'm so glad Thunderpunch is a TM in this generation.
  • Defeated Jasmine. Sweeped the entire gym with Arwen, even though she was underleveled compared to Steelix.

Hell Razah/ Manectric lvl 42

hm slaves:Grovyle (flash, cut, rock smash)
Marrill(surf)

so Norman and Flannery both went down easily due to Hell Razah.

Norman was just straight sparks all the way through.

for Flannery i leveled up Hell Razah to lvl 39 to learn bite, so he could actually do some decent damage to ground types.
Bite flinched her torkoal straight through, easiest gym leader so far

Did stuff up to Silph again. Beat rival this time. His first 4 Pokemon were easy, Alakazam was barely defeated with 5 HP left, Blastoise got killed by a Wrapfest. Whew...
Sabrina was even harder, the Kadabra and Alakazam both outspeeded Dragonair and could do heavy damage to it. On my third attempt, Kadabra disabled Wrap, which got immediately undisabled again so I could use it and wear it down. When Wrap was over, it used something that didn't do too much and died to a Body Slam. Mime and Venomoth were both slower than Dragonair and thus killed by successful Wrapfest. Alakazam got paralyzed by the first Body Slam, used something, Dragonair survived and killed it with the next Body Slam.
Caught me a Pidgey with Master Ball because I need a Fly Slave soon because I am now going back to Vermilion since I skipped Surge to avoid levels, and his Badge is the one needed to Fly.

Log:

  • Went to the Lake of Rage and caught the Red Gyarados for HM usage
  • Defeated the Rockets at the Rocket Hideout
  • Defeated Pryce. Ice types. Lulz.
  • Defeated the Rockets and Rival Shawn. I'm loving Thunderpunch
  • Getting kind of worried. Arwen is close to Level 40, and I would like to evolve her at about Level 50. Where's my Fire Stone?
  • Red Gyarados is now a true HM Slave! He knows Surf, Whirlpool, Waterfall, and Strength
  • Made it through the Ice Path and arrived in Blackthorn. I'm worried about beating Clair.

Yeah, I know Tyson is overleveled. I just want Tyson to learn Flamethrower, and, besides, I'm going to need its Thunderpunch for Clair's Kingdra.

Tyson has a high special attack? I must have been spending too much time without the Cyndaquil Family, I thought all the fire-typed starters did better with physical attacks than special attacks. I know for a fact that Blaster is that way.

So far, his Special Attack is better than his Attack. I honestly never gave much thought into stats. I just add attacks based on what I thought fit, like adding Thunderpunch for all the Water types. I'm not that good with strategy. Too lazy for it. : P

Fire Monotype Challenge: Part 25 - Hahaha!

Trainer Name: Seb
Badges: 8
Generation: II (on Crystal)
Location: Blackthorn City

Log:

  • Defeated all the trainers in the Gym. Arwen fainted about 2 or 3 times because practically everything was a 2HKO. Where's my darn Fire Stone? Yeah, I'm looking at you Lass/Schoolboy/Person/iforget that's supposed to call me.
  • Got to Clair. First Dragonair was a... wait? It has Surf? That's not too bad. Headbutt takes care of it. Good thing I'm overleveled for Kingdra. Too bad for Arwen, who fainted. Tyson should be able to take care of it with Thunderpunch. Huh? That did less than I thought. Wait, Surf is a 2HKO? I don't have enough Potions to stall it out! And Kingdra lives with 1HP and Tyson faints. First attempt: FAIL.
  • Second attempt. Dragonair fight went exactly the same. Kingdra spammed Smokescreens instead of using Surf. Whodathunk Swift would actually be useful? The rest was pretty easy. Even Arwen took out the last Dragonair.
  • Dragon trainers are jerks. First, she won't give me the badge and she tells me to go into some cave. Then, I go in, and I'm told to leave by the trainers there. I've come to the conclusion that Lance is the only nice one around here (I forgot what Drake was like in R/S/E).
  • The people in the temple think that I'm wise. Final badge finally acquired.
  • Decided to run around in circles waiting for someone to call me and give me a Fire Stone.
  • Accidentally ran into the path of grass on the route beneath Blackthorn and... ENTEI APPEARED? Laughed for whatever reason (I get easily amused) and gave it a little bit of damage before it fled. Walked two squares to the left and... RAIKOU TOO?
  • Laughed for a good few minutes and lamented the difficulty (and my general lack of luck) of finding them in my regular playthroughs of the game.

I think it's safe to say that nothing really changed. Speaking of change, I want my Fire Stone now.

1 ) The schoolboy near Moo Moo Farm, I believe, but the chances are about the same as finding a Chansey in the Safari Zone.
2 ) This is why you need to consider your stats. I remembered that Kingdra being a pain for members without physical viability.
3 ) There you go. If you don't get STAB + Weakness, go with what you know works. And Swift, by the way, is giving my Pidgeot no end of trouble back here in Kanto... when I find someone that knows it, I mean ;)
4 ) Drake is... well, like Lance back in Gen I - not really a fleshed-out character. You have to remember, you don't really get character development in the Elite 4 unless you've been around.
5 ) Wise enough to handle Extremespeed Dratini?
6 ) Don't force it, Bill's Grampa is just on the other side of Vermillion, and isn't there a Move Re-Tutor in Crystal?
7 and 8 ) Don't I know it... I actually had a friend that thought you can't naturally catch the others if you've seen one of them. I had caught Entei and used it in battle against him, he was angry at me for a week. Then he found and caught Suicune. (If you're on here and I've told it wrong, Greg, I'm sorry)

Pfft. Stats? Who needs and strategy and stats? It's more of a personal challenge for me. I don't bother with finding perfect natures (even though they didn't exist in this game, you get it) or EV training or all that.

And I don't think there is a move relearner in Crystal. I think those appeared in Gen 3.

Log:

  • Went through Mt. Mortar. I forgot how much I hated that freaking place.
  • Sold TMs that werent applicable to my Pokemon and... Arwen can learn Dragonbreath? Really? It may come in handy in the Lance fight, so I taught her that.
  • Cheated the system and got 14 MooMoo Milks because I was bored. He only gives you one at a time, but I just had my Pokemon hold a bottle and the guy gives you more. Lulz.
  • Went to the Tin Tower to fight Ho-Oh... or Suicune. Nevermind. Beat it with two Thunderpunches to the face. Euisine thought it was a spectacular fight. Lulz.
  • Got Buena's Password thing because I was bored. It's "Lemonade."
  • Got the Masterball because I supposedly helped Elm with his research even though I trained a grand total of two Pokemon.
  • Finally showed Elm the Togepi. More lulz.
  • Tried Battle Tower. They only let me in the level 40 room, but Tyson and Arwen are too awesome for that. I guess it's because my other Pokemon was my Gyarados slave at level 30. I don't care. I'm not good at the Battle Tower.
  • My mom saved 48051 dollars. Heck yeah. She bought me Pokedolls because she loves me. Oh, and I have 203777 dollars with me. I'm a rich kid.
  • It's Rival Shawn. You know you're overleveled when your Growlithe start outspeeding Sneasels. And I'm nearly 10 levels overleveled, well more. Feraligatr fainted to one Thunderpunch. Haha.
  • Arrived at Pokemon League. My mom is the only one who is calling me. At least she loves me.
Team:
I don't really care about getting Extremespeed or anything, but Arwen can't take a hit, and I don't want her fainting on me a hundred times during the Elite Four. I need a Fire Stone. I'm kind of wishing I just did a solo run with Tyson. It probably would have been easier.

Oh right. Tyson is level 51. He now knows Earthquake. Arwen is level 48. She now knows Dragonbreath.

Fought my way to and through Union Cave, skipped all Water trainers on the way because my Horsea's only attack is Bubble. Beat TR in Slowpoke Well, with a lot of SRing though, stupid Poison and Confusion.
Beat Bugsy's underlings except for the one with the Paras, but I was not able to beat Bugsy him/herself yet. I already beat my rival, though, on my first attempt. Horsea lived at the end with 4 HP and a burn, but it lived.

Update: Also beat Busgy now. I finally got lucky and first did not get poisoned by his Kakuna, and then managed to get some Smokescreens on Scyther, which totally screwed Bugsy's Fury Cutter strategy. With my last Berry and 1 or 2 Potions, I somehow beat Scyther then despite Horsea falling asleep when victory already seemed close, I thought this would screw me up. After the battle, Horsea finally learned Water Gun, which will now be my new main form of attacking until I get Surf.
I can't hope to challenge and beat Morty before level 30 (which would mean the complete end of disobeyance), but at least for Whitney, this seems realistic.
But before I try that, I will first do some progress on my other challenge, Bug, where I still am not far beyond Hearthome.

Things became a lot harder since it learned Leer, unlike Smokescreen it's completely useless, similar to what Thunder Wave was with Dratini against Brock.

Leveled up Scyther via Exp Share while beating the Unown ruins and the Ghost Tower. Went back to Oreburgh and got myself the Brick Break TM. I met a Lv.10 Golbat in the cave, I never knew Golbat could be obtained that early... (or even worse, that makes level 11 Crobats legal). Whatever, with Scyther, I fought my way to Veilstone and Scyther's Wing Attack (and BB for Luke) beat Maylene's gym with ease. The puzzle took a lot longer than the battles, despite not being hard at all.
Fought the double battle with the 'nice rival' (or whatever this person is called again) and the grunts and got the Fly HM.
Next: Beating Whitney on Dragon, then catching a Starly or something similar on Bug, nicknaming Scyther and then finally getting my final teammember Yanma at Pastoria.

I don't think of Agility as a viable move on Scyther, it's already pretty speedy, and it's way to frail. SD would be a better option imo, but currently I do lean more towards a 4 attacks moveset, because of the aforementioned frailty.
